Antoinette’s is where my fiancé bought the most stunning engagement ring ever for me. Antoinette worked with us through every step of the process to help us find the ring that was perfect for us. Her collection is constantly changing because she showcases unique pieces from various estates around the country and the jewelry is from all different decades. What I love most about my experience with Antoinette is that she is a GIA Gemologist, so she really knows what she’s talking about. She is also really sweet and friendly, as is her staff (which includes a couple of really cute pups). Lastly, Antoinette has a fantastic bench jeweler who can help personalize your jewelry to look and fit the way you want it to. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in buying jewelry to go check out her fabulous shop off NW 23^rd and have fun perusing her lovely collections.

My fiancé and I went here to get our engagement rings. We actually found Antoinette’s on accident, we forgot that most shops are closed on Sundays and I was so disappointed, but then we searched Unilocal for places open on a Sunday and found this little gem! We had a wonderful experience buying our engagement rings here, and came back just yesterdays, over a year later to try to find some wedding bands. Just as the first time, Antoinette was so welcoming, warm, and knowledgable, she made us feel right at home, and very engaged in the process of looking at rings and learning about the gems, and jewelry history. She is incredibly knowledge able andI can tell she loves what she does. This is part of why I trust buying my rings form her. My partner found both her rings almost right away, but choosing mine took me several hours both times! Antoinette was so patient with me the whole time, and when I couldn’t find a band there, she helped me find a close match and then we came up with a simple custom band her jeweler will make for me. This place is wonderful, kind, professional, original, and everything I would want out of my ring shopping experience!
Price wise I feel like things were well priced, expensive yes, but this is fine, antique jewelry. I did not feel over charged, and she respected our budget goal to stay under $ 1000 per ring, though there were many pieces above that price, there were also many below it too. I never felt pressured to buy, or spend more then I wanted to!

A couple of years ago, after 19−½ years together, my partner and I decided to get married with three days notice. I found a ring for him at Gilt, but couldn’t find anything there for myself. I then spent the next two days visiting every shop in Portland that had a decent vintage selection. I wanted something unique and affordable from the 1920’s. Antoinette’s provided by far the best experience. She was incredibly patient, let me take my time, answered all of my questions, and encouraged me to follow my heart about what I wanted. I tried on many rings before settling on a really unique cocktail ring that has been drawing compliments ever since. She held it for me while I thought it over and then went out of her way to make sure I had it on my big day. I won’t go into the details of everything she did, because I wouldn’t want her to have to do so much for everyone, but she really went above and beyond the ordinary. If I had oodles of money, I’d shop here all the time. Beautiful selection, top notch service, really fair prices. If you’re shopping for a wedding ring or just something unusual, go here first. You won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I found our wedding rings at Antoinette’s and we couldn’t be happier! Both Antoinette and her wonderful employee were both so kind, patient and helpful allowing us to find the perfect rings. I found her beautifully extensive collection to be very fairly priced and wonderfully kept. I love that they are antiques, that the journey of the rings continues and that we are a part of that story. Thank you Antoinette!

Update: I revisited this shop after almost five years and I am still in love with Antoinette’s professionalism, her knowledge, and the gorgeous selection of rings. I would love to shop here every week but it could be dangerous. :)
My review puts the pricing as $$$ because although this calibur of jewelry is expensive by nature, the rings I have purchased at Antoinette’s generally look much more expensive than they were. This is because vintage craftsmanship is simply not found anywhere modern and each piece is extremely beautiful.

The vintage engagement rings were the best selection and lowest prices we saw out of several places in Portland. That said I felt like Antoinette was quite the talker and could have spent a bit more time listening. I got that she has a great background and loves her job but being an introvert (ok, an extroverted introvert but still an introvert), I could have used a bit of quiet time and less discussion of credentials and «try this on, try this on, you’ll know it when you see it» etc. Again, not that she wasn’t perfectly lovely — I’m just saying go when you have some time/​energy to try a bunch of stuff on or know what you want and stick to it. I would definitely return for vintage jewelry because her selection and prices are outstanding.

Wonderful shop– the owner is thorough and informative. The rings are all stunning and truly are works of art. My husband and I stopped by because we wanted to upgrade my engagement ring and we felt respected and not pressured through the entire experience. Highly recommended.

We just bought our engagement ring from Antoinette. She was awesome!!! From the moment we walked in she made us feel special. She showed us many different pieces from different periods. Ultimately she had the perfect ring for us. We explored some other places and options and came back twice. By the end of the day we had our ring. I’m so in love with it. The service was top notch! The 1920’s Art Deco ring is gorgeous. I’m so thankful that we found this place and the ring! It is worth walking in and letting Antoinette give your her history lesson of beautiful vintage rings.

This is a perfect shop for the old soul. I picked out my own engagement ring the weekend my boyfriend became my fiancé and I seriously found it a breeze. I think most of that is due to the fact that this shop was right up my alley and the owner is knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
The variety along with the price is perfect for anyone. You can definitely find something you like if you are into gorgeous and unique vintage rings and jewelry. It took my about 10 minutes to get hooked on my ring but she had me try on all different ones just to be sure. What great service! I was able to compare different eras, gems, and cuts to the ring I fell in love with.
Also she does not pressure you to buy and really does work with any budget. If you are in the PDX area I suggest you stop by this awesome little shop, even bring your boy along. They have a pool table to keep them entertained.

While i think this place gets really beautiful rings, i don’t think she’s totally trustworthy. After i found my ring at her place i was so in love with it and didn’t want to wait 3 weeks to have it sized by her jeweler so i took it to another jeweler that specializes in antique rings. When i asked them to size it they put it under the microscope and we were both astonished to see it had a rather large chip in the diamond (no microscope actually needed), and the tips were missing from the diamond (they were amazed it was even still in there). I was amazed that she would sell a ring without mentioning this default. This coming from the «gemologist» who «worked on the antique road show» and says she «never forgets a diamond». Well she certainly forgot that detail. After going back and raising hell she told us the diamond was maybe worth $ 50 and the ring price just reflected the metal work not the diamond. For compensation she paid for the sizing in addition to replacing the diamond tips (which she said she normally does when the ring gets sized after it’s sold).
I thought this was a rare incident which is why it took me a while to write a review, until i spoke with a friend who also had a very negative experience with her. Now i thought i would share the experience so people can be a little more cautious when they find that «perfect» ring at her place.

I’d put ring shopping right up there with shoe shopping… My feet hurt and everything is the wrong size, and where oh where is the exit!
However, there is a glimmer of hope in Portland.
The lovely Antoinette took good care of us on our hunt for THEE ring.
And turns out it was waiting right there for us. She was so kind and patient with us and happily let the lil lady prance around the mirrors checking and rechecking if we did indeed have thee ring.
A billiards table and a seat to rest my weary feet and this was definitely one of the easiest purchases on our American shopping spree.

The moment we walked in the door, we were both at ease. A brightly lit shoppe tucked around the corner from a busy retail street, Antoinette’s selection of vintage engagement and wedding bands have a great variety. With an engagement ring already firmly placed on my ring finger, we zeroed in on wedding bands with Antoinette, patiently along every step of the way.
We never felt pressured, or judged by our lack of knowledge of gems and rings in general. A gemologist by trade, Antoinette was both knowledgable and sweet, inspecting my engagement ring and giving me more information about its origin than I received from the antique dealer it was bought from. Compared to some of our other ring shopping experiences, this one was very casual and friendly. We was welcomed to stay as long as we liked, walking around the store with various bands on, looking in the full length mirror positioned next to the window to test the various lightings, humming hawing, and then finally, selecting THE one.
Bonus — there’s a pool table in the rear for impatient to be husbands.

Wonderful service! The owner was so nice and helpful. She not only added to my wedding ring but also restored my antique family ring for an extremely reasonable price! You cannot even tel the ring was damaged. I will definitely be coming back for any future jewelry needs

I recently had to replace my original wedding set (purchased elsewhere) and decided to stop into Antoinette’s lovely shop. I had been in before, and was extremely impressed with her professionalism, knowledge, and jewelry selection. She is extremely personable, kind-​hearted, and a great sales-​woman. Wise, but never pushy. She has had (on separate visits) a few helpers in her store, who seem intelligent and helpful — but if you have the time, wait to speak to Antoinette.
Her prices and business ethics are much friendlier than *another antique jewelry store in the area*.
She helped me find a perfect ring– and I have received dozens of compliments on it! Thanks again!

Terrible experience. This is for Antoinette’s jewelry repair service, which my parnter and I went to based on the great Unilocal reviews. Our main issue was an emerald ring with small diamonds in which the emerald was loose. We wanted it repointed. We also had a second ring, with a big garnet, two small garnets, and seed pearls. I had lost a small garnet, so we decided we would replace the small garnets and seed pearls with small diamonds to match the emerald ring. We also had the band of the garnet ring enlarged. Here’s what happened:
1) She didn’t repoint the emerald, but repointed all the surrounding small diamonds. She said she was scared she would have cracked the emerald. Well, the emerald was our main concern and if she could not do the work she should have said so and we would have gone elsewhere.
2)She removed the small garnet and seed pearls, and did not return the small garnet. She says she probably lost it. Not cool!
3) I mentioned I would pay extra for nice, antique-​looking small diamonds to match my partner’s. Antoinette said that it would be easy to get nice diamonds that small and they wouldn’t cost much. Well, they look nothing like my partner’s diamonds. There was no attempt to match them, and I was willing to pay extra for this.
4) Worst of all, one of the diamonds is way to big for its spot. This means that the point sticks done into my finger. When my partner picked up the rings, she mentioned this to Antoinette, who pooh-​poohed it and said that I wouldn’t feel it at all. Well, I do. A LOT. It really hurts to have a diamond point digging into your finger. I can’t wear the ring.
I’m really disappointed. I don’t think Antoinette deserves these stellar reviews.

If you are looking for a piece of antique or estate jewelry Antoinette’s definitely the BEST selection, experience and prices around. WOW! I am blown away by Antoinette and her amazing talent, generous spirit and passion for what she does.
No pressure, no BS, no run around. We went to Gilt before discovering Antoinette’s and had a less than happy experience and walked out frutrated. Had the opposite experience here. She was so patient with me and my fiancé as we spent well over a 90 minutes looking, discussing and deciding.
I left Antoinette’s shop with the ring of my dreams and feeling super satisfied with the whole experience. I love this place and you will too. I promise. Thank you Antoinette!

I had a phenomenal experience working with Antoinette to find the perfect engagement ring! I am writing this review with the hope that Antoinette can help other guys who are searching for rings. Seriously, stop wasting your time with other bigbox stores (I’m talking to you, Tiffany) and do yourself and your soon to be fiancé a favor by working with Antoinette.
Let me start by mentioning that I shopped in New York City, New Orleans, Washington, DC, Atlanta, and even Birmingham, AL to find the right ring. I perused the internet and read all the articles I could about how to find the perfect, high quality diamonds in the perfect setting. And then, on a whim, I stopped by Antoinnette’s store in Portland and she absolutely blew away all of these other places I’d visited.
Antoinette not only has amazing stock on hand, but she has connections to get whatever it is you are looking for. She also has a superb bench jeweler who can do any repair or resizing that is necessary.
I should also add that I live across the country, literally, from Portland, OR. And Antoinette has remained extremely supportive. We have relied on her for recommendations for our other rings and jewelry. Rather than have us return to Portland for things we need, she makes local recommendations. She genuinely cares about supporting our questions.
I couldn’t have hoped to find a jeweler who is as good as Antoinette. She surpasses all expectations – not just for a jeweler, but for any store, anywhere! I would fly across the country just to work with her, and if you are reading this, I strongly suggest that you do the same. And I honestly feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have the opportunity to work with Antoinette. You owe it to yourself to shop here first.

Antoinette is amazing! She is knowledgeable and understanding. She has an absolutely stunning assortment of rings and they are all beautiful. My fiancé and I found the perfect ring to celebrate our engagement and something that is both practical and beautiful. Antoinette has prices that didn’t mortgage our future and I am so grateful for that!
Since our wonderful experience ring shopping I have been back to Antoinette’s shop for repair of some of my heirloom jewelry that I inherited from my grandmother. The bench jeweler that Antoinette uses is an absolute genius! Pieces that I have been hanging onto for years and are now wearable again. I am forever grateful for the thoughtful care taken with me as a customer, my antique pieces and most importantly my pocketbook.

Though there are some close ties, I have to say that this is my favorite antique jewelry shop in the area.
Antoinette has a few cases of mostly Art Deco rings, with a smaller selection of older pieces. Prices are very good, and Antoinette accepted a few trade-​ins from us for store credit to help our purchase along. There is a great selection of rings for every price range from the very budget minded to the seriously spectacular, and all kinds of old cuts.
I’m really pleased with the antique platinum diamond eternity band I found. It’s very unique, and though it was not in my very-​difficult-​to-​find size (4), Antoinette has got the hookup with a bench jeweler who has a laser welder (not everyone has one!) so she is able to have it sized. Antoinette obviously also really cares that the customer is happy beyond the point of sale: she wanted to be sure I knew that the band will probably cause wear on my engagement ring since my engagement ring sits so low — I had considered this already but she didn’t have to warn me, and really, that sort of info could potentially jeopardize a sale. She really wants the customer to enjoy their piece.
A word for the men out there: If your attention span for jewelry shopping is all of 5 minutes long, no worries, **there’s a pool table for you to play with**. Yup, genius.
