I work a few blocks away and this is the best lunch place ever. They are pretty quick about getting the food to the table, especially if you mention you are on your lunch hour. I always order the panang curry salmon with veggies. Literally the best salmon I ever have eaten. The mango sticky rice is awesome too, but I’m usually too full from the salmon and order the sticky mango rice to go. The staff is courteous and professional. It’s a must try!

Pad Thai way too sweet. I did not eat it and they offered to fix it but I was not interested in a second attempt.. The service was good but at the end they rung up the completely un edible beef pad Thai. As an appetizer we had a 8 $special coconut shrimp. 4 Greasy prawns with soggy sweetened coconut on grease soaked paper and 4 shrimp chips(yuck.)My wife’s drunken noodle was delicious and I ate off her plate. I can’t believe they charged me for the badly made unauthentic Thai cuisine. Don’t advise this place with all the options in Portland .too bad. Nice folks, bad business.

Hands down the best thai food in PDX! I highly recommend the crab fried rice. The drunken noodles and thai iced tea were also delicious. I’ve been there several times and have never been disappointed.

Our takeout was so disgusting that we each ate a bite and had to throw it away. I never do that and I’m not the pickiest person in the world. The vegetables were mush and the chicken was so dry like it had been cooked hours prior. Don’t waste your money on this crap shoot!

The first time I went, it was not so great. The rice that accompanied my stirfry was in a plastic bag too, which I disliked. A few months later, I decided to give it another try, because it is close. Maybe the chef had an off night? The second time I order something completely different, but it was equally disappointing. The main flavor was soy sauce /salt. Blah. Next time I’ll walk a few blocks further to try out one of the many many other thai places nearby.

To be fair, I used to live near this place and have eaten here a dozen times without problems. Not spectacular, but not bad, either. Today was it. Got the masuman curry with pumpkin and beef. First off, the chunks of beef were huge, easily over two inches by two inches. Would it have been that much more work to cut the meat into bite-sized pieces? Especially since there are no knives on the table? But the real problem was the veggies. I had a piece of pumpkin and thought it tasted really weird, but maybe because I’d just put some chili/fish sauce on it. Then I had a piece of carrot and it tasted the same. It was at this point my wife said, «These vegetables are rotten.» They were. They tasted like they’d been pulled out of a dumpster and thrown into a curry. We told the waitress, who just smiled and said, «Sorry about that!» I don’t know if she didn’t understand us or just didn’t want to discuss it further. Either way, not going back.

Why is this place rated an average of 4 stars? There are seven food photos posted here and most of them look greasy. There were two people eating here when we arrived at 7:30 pm. I ordered the curry chicken puffs and they tasted like bad samosas. They are dry, with a small amount of potatoes and chicken and unfortunately that was the best item we ordered. It should have come with a sauce and … actually we should have left after this course. Why people stay in movies hoping it will improve when the first part made no sense, well, there we were hoping. I’m guessing its under new management. The place closed for the night at 9pm. Hello ! Nate ordered the chicken panang curry; the chicken was off and it was mostly sauce. I ordered the special for the month, a grapefruit shrimp salad with spicy dressing. The waitress recommended it. OMG It was fried toasted noodles with iceberg lettuce, bruised Roma tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and four pieces of shrimp in a sauce resembling bottled vinaigrette with chili flakes. On a positive note, they have a fantastic outdoor patio seating area with multiple colored festive lights. I suggest you bring your own food and ask for outdoor seating. I came here because of the four star rating and I was totally hoodwinked. Lesson here: If you walk in to a big restaurant at dinner time and its completely empty, turn around and smile.

The first time we ordered from Authentic Thai, we came away with pretty positive impressions. First of all, they are about 3 blocks away, so the food arrived in 15 minutes or so. The delivery-man actually walked to our place with the food, which was hot and exactly as ordered. He brought two drinks, both with ice. It was great. The food was above average, good given the price and convenience. The Drunken Noodles were run of the mill but satisfying nonetheless. Sweet and Sour Pork was a bit runny, but typical otherwise. Based on that initial, mostly positive episode, my partner and I ordered Authentic Thai once again about a month later, and the experience was much different. It was a bit later in the day, around 7ish and they were noticeably busier. We had a bit more difficulty ordering this instance due to communication with the person that answered the phone, and some background noise there. Still, everything seemed okay and we paid, said goodbye, and hung-up. They said it would take 45 minutes. We called after an hour and were told it would arrive«any minute.» We waited another 20 minutes and called again. They told us the driver had left a half hour previously and that they would«call him.» After waiting another 15 minutes, we simply had to call again. It was getting late and we still weren’t hearing anything. At this point, we were prepared to give up and leave to pick something else up. We called them again and they said that they would now call the driver, which infuriated us even more-so. Another 10 minutes and we called again. Their reply this time was that the delivery driver did not answer his phone. Speechless, we hung up in the hopes that the driver was close-by. After another few minutes passed, we called again prepared to give up and ask for a refund, expecting the food to never show up. The phone just rang and rang. We waited. Called again. Rang and rang… until someone answered«What do you want?» We realized then that they were screening our calls. They insisted that the delivery person would arrive at any moment and didn’t seem to react sympathetically to our cries that the food would likely be cold. They simply declared that they had done everything they could do and hung up. We felt defeated, having tried in earnest to track down our food. Perhaps we should have requested an utterly new meal be made and delivered to us(or picked up even). We gave up on calling after that. We just started watching out our windows like obsessed voyeurs. It had been more than two hours since we had ordered. Fifteen minutes or so passed before the delivery-man finally showed up, first going to a neighbors door, then ours. We paid, thanked him, and say goodbye. Before leaving, he apologized and said that he had«a number of deliveries» before us. We weren’t happy, feeling drained of energy and enthusiasm. As we unpacked all of the food, it was apparent that indeed the delivery man had been out a long time. The Drunken Noodles were warm at best. And I don’t have a microwave either. Veggie tempura was cold and soggy, with a gaping hole in the top of the plastic container, obviously from too much heat(see photo). We were shocked. It was inedible. The one drink we ordered, we no wanted since the once hefty amount of ice had entirely melted and so it no longer resembled a thai iced tea. Unsure of whether it was even worth calling to complain, my partner finally did and after some back and forth was offered amends. We’re still not sure how things went wrong on this fateful night in June 2015.

Been going here for years, and the food is pretty consistent in flavor and the service is good. We often get the pumpkin curry with chicken(instead of beef) and it’s worth the $ 14. Large portion, and very creamy curry. I often get a one of the salads and a noodle dish and they are all a very large size. You will either have left overs, or your guts will be near explosion if you eat all of it. I had the beef salad last night, and the beef was cooked perfectly. It was a nice medium to medium well — a bit of pink, but no bloody. Good variety of greens in the salad with cucumber, and tomatoes on the side. It’s a hearty $ 10 salad. The reason this isn’t a 5 star review is because if you order several entrees, they do not necessarily come out at the same time. I finished my large salad before the curry came out. This often happens so plan ahead. If you’re not doing family style and sharing the dishes, someone might be sitting and watching… patiently waiting while the rest of the group eats.

I would love to tell you about the food, but I was unable to try it. I looked this place up on Unilocal and it told me plainly that I am 1.9 miles from their place of business. I triple checked the Web page to make sure it said delivery within 2 miles so I was excited to try someplace new. I spent about 20 mind familiarizing myself with the menu and selecting my food choices. When I called it took almost 2 minutes to get the lady to take my phone number and name, but as soon as I said my address she handed me off to a rather rude man who said they don’t deliver to me. I pointed out that I am within the 2 miles and he insisted. Don’t say you deliver within 2 miles and than be a jerk on the phone. good luck with your life, but please change both Unilocal and your Web page to reflect the fact that you will decide on the fly if you wish to deliver to someone.

DELICIOUS! Just moved into the neighborhood and thought I’d try this place out for lunch. Good choice Rachel. I got drunken noodles with pork and man oh man, they were good. They aren’t spicy at all(perfect for me), so if you’re into that then ask for some hot sauce. I see myself coming back here a lot in the near future.

This is my favorite thai place, but not my partner’s, hence the 4 stars. I like places with cloth napkins, this place has them so you get a sense of the ambiance. The food is consistent and fresh every time. They are very helpful and willing to make you happy. The first time I ordered mild which was too spicy for me(I know I am a whip). I asked for more coconut milk to dilute it and they said that would not fix it and made me another bowl. I like the vegetarian curries(no tofu) and ask for extra veggies. For the Panang ask for a fork as they do not cut the green beans. The fresh salad rolls are the best and full of flavor. No salad roll is complete w/o the peanut sauce which I judge harshly since I love my PB! It is not gelatinous, watered down or too salty like many other places. Tom Yum Noodles are good, as is the Pad Thai. Great service and friendly. My only negatives are that It is a little on the cold side(which may be due to it being an older building) and the spoons are very heavy. I am not a dainty little thing, but I do not like the heavy spoons. They have added an outdoor area.

Very good thai food, with generous portion size. This place has some good food. The pad thai and drunken noodles are delicious, noodles are just the right consistency, and the mild is just as flavorful as the med/spicy versions. I also love the chu chu mee catfish! So, good and the string beans are perfectly crunchy every time! Just wished they offered a happy hour!

I went here for dinner and got the panang curry with tofu and asked for it to be ‘hot’(one step down from they’re spiciest ‘extra hot’ level). I could have handled a little bit more spice for sure. I was not a fan of the fried tofu — I prefer it fresh because fried tofu that is sitting in liquid always tastes rubbery and weird. There were about 3 pieces of broccoli, a little bit of red pepper and a giant pile of green beans which were extremely long and therefore hard to fit in your mouth without making a mess. The curry itself was fine, I’ve had better though. Service was good, except we had a late dinner and they were very obvious about that fact that they wanted us to leave. That’s not a big deal though, I totally get it. With so many Thai places in SE, I wouldn’t go back here.

Authentically made Thai food? I think that’s what the name suggests. It really is good. There are a couple dishes I will always have to order when I go here and that is the Nam Kao Tod: It says it’s on the special menu, but it’s always offered and on the special menu. It is a type of lettuce wrap full of ginger, peanuts, chicken, and crispy rice. It’s delicious because of the textures and flavoring. Every bite has a crisp from the lettuce and a crunch from the rice. I also love the chu che catfish. It’s a fried fish dish with red peppers and onions. The sauce is really good as well as the crunch from the fish fillets. No need to worry about the fish bones. The tom yum shrimp soup is also tasty with rice. The pad kee mao is always full of flavor and meat. The price is decent for the amount of food you get. The staff is very nice as well. This is a neighborhood favorite. They have awesome lunch specials for people eating on a budget! Bonus: Best take out and left overs for the next day!

I love this place. It’s around the corner from my house and I’ve been going there for years. If you have the good fortune to go for lunch the lunch specials on the back of the menu can not be beat! Panang Salmon for $ 9. As spicy as you want it. It’s one of my go to spots with guests. The house special noodle curry is also fantastic. No a lunch special, but nothing will break the bank. The people are friendly and kind. The place is clean. The food is tasty. They put that wretched Pok Pok to shame. I used to live in Thailand and measure a Thai restaurant on its Pad Thai. It varies drastically from place to place. It’s very good at Authentic Thai. If you want delicious Thai food, you don’t need to look any further.

It’s basically impossible to be in the running for the best Thai restaurant on SE Division if your chef isn’t Andy Ricker. These guys really can’t compete with the Pok Poks and the Sen Yais of the neighborhood… but damn if they aren’t good at what they do. What is it exactly that they do? Authentic. Thai. Delivery. The food is inarguably authentic(I mean, the name IS Authentic Thai…). Their curries, their noodles, and their salads are all more than acceptable. Like most Thai joints, any dish can be made vegetarian or not, spicy or not, and substitutions can easily be made. And seriously, how smart is Thai delivery? Just about all of the business these guys have gotten from me is because I don’t want to leave my house and I don’t want pizza. The only requirements are that you live within a 2-mile radius, order at least $ 20 of food, and are willing to pay a $ 3 delivery fee. Seems reasonable to me. For what these guys do, I’m a fan.
