Aybla Grill

I always get the Mediterranean plate here, which is good. My friends have sworn by the Gyro here. The woman making the food is very nice and polite. Be sure to tip her!
Why not 5 stars?!?
I’ve found recently the lamb is a bit overcooked and crispy. While this isn’t terrible, it is not my preference. I usually end up throwing away some of the really crispy stuff.

Solid Greak salads here. I always get the lamb but the chicken is decent as well. I’ve had better euros at some of the other carts but you get a very good sized portion here.

Came here for lunch yesterday and got the regular chicken gyro. It was huge! I’m pretty sure it had a full two chicken breasts in there and they didn’t skimp on the sauce. The regular gyro is $ 6, $ 0.50 to add feta (no thanks) and extra sauce. If I’m describing the size of the regular chicken gyro, I’m assuming the super gyro is twice as huge for $ 8. Not much else to say other than it was delicious!

Large portions, affordable food, and very tasty! I get the falafel «sandwich» gyro and its always loaded with veggies, falafel, and feta cheese. They also take credit/​debit!

When it comes to Gyros you cant get much better than Aybla’s. I had the regular lamb gyro today and added feta. It was LOADED with meat and they cut it off the spit (I think that’s the right term, its the meat cone that spins around…) which I like better than those places that have the pre pressed strips. It might all be the same but I like it better this way. Everything else in the gyro, including the pita was really good. A coworker had the falafel and really enjoyed it as well. I have tried some of the other Greek carts and liked this one the most

Seriously the best gyros in town. Eat at one of their carts frequently.

Grabbed some lunch from here while I was downtown with the kids. The lamb gyro was actually really good and good sized as well. We also grabbed some hummus and pita and my kids loved the hummus! In fact, we also got some pizza from around the corner but the kids really just wanted to focus on the hummus, which says something when pizza is passed up. Good food all around.

Besides the fact that they have the absolute best hummus I’ve ever tasted, they consistently make a great meal no matter what you’re eating, you get a good sized portion for what you pay (which is not always true at food carts) and the service is always friendly and fast.

For $ 5, this place has an okay, pretty good sized falafel sandwich. It’s not among the best I’ve ever had, but it is an okay lunch for a small price. No complaints really, just nothing to write home about.

Went to Aybla for the first time last night. This cart was located at the «Good Food Here Pod» on SE 42^nd and Belmont, so I may be ignorant to the fact there is more than one cart.
Anyhoo…I had the lamb super gyro. It was, by far, THE. BEST. EVER. Once I started to consume this gynormous pita filled with it’s mediterraneon goodness, the rest of the world just faded into the distance. I was blown away. Luckily I felt no shame as the tzatziki began to ooze all over my hand and chin, (napkins are for pussies anyway) My date was equally enthralled with his chicken gyro, our eyes met every now and then and the unspoken OMG said it all.
Plans to return and work my way through the menu are in the near future.
Oh, and it’s not a good idea to eat the Super Gyro and then walk to the top of Mt Tabor. Do the walk first, people, I am not kidding the gyro was huge.

I tried their Baklava and it was awesome! Very yummy piece full of pistachio and not too sweet yet flakey phyllo with a hint of orange blossom water. Yummy!

I was in downtown the other day and was craving a mezza plate, so I decided to head to the food carts and find one that has a veggie mezza plate. Aybla was the first one I saw that had them, so I decided to go for it. Service was really quick, probably because there wasn’t a line. The hummus was really delicious and creamy. The baba ganoush was also tasty and super garlicky, just the way I like it. The falafel was flavorful and the portion was pretty big. I liked the stuffed grape leaves too, which was good since I usually don’t like them. It also came with a side salad with a creamy dressing. I need to figure out what they used because it was really tasty! The only complain I have is that they only gave me four small sizes of pita, and I wish I got more since I have a lot of the dips left after I finished the pita. Other than that, it’s a nice cart and I’ll probably go back when I’m craving for some Mediterranean food and in downtown.

Okay, so I know I’ve been reviewing a lot of food carts lately since I live at them during lunch time on the weekdays but this one HAS to be done!
Aybla makes great salads. No, scratch that — Aybla makes monster salads. No, no wait — Aybla’s salads eat other salads. These salads make fun of other salads for being little girly-​men salads and then roundhouse kick them in the face. They are the Chuck Norris of salads!
I’m not the biggest salad eater but I try not to eat a ton of carbs (especially for lunch since I prefer to stay awake at work afterwards). I also am trying to eat at every single food cart in downtown Portland… I’m not sure why I’m doing that but I am. The salad at this place was really the only thing I could get that didn’t have rice or bread somehow affiliated with it. I was not unpleased. I was, in fact, VERY pleased.
The first time I went I got the chicken salad and today was lamb. I love lamb! (lamp) It’s a barrel full of heaven and usually is enough to bring home and have for dinner. They do put a bit of dressing on it so if you’re watching your calories, you’ll probably want to address the dressing… there’s a pun in there somewhere, sorry. Otherwise there’s a donkey-​ton of meat which is fantastic after a lunchtime workout.
Special note: salad is normally $ 9 but there is an instant deal on
that gives you $ 9 for $ 6. I’m not sure how long that’s going to last but $ 6 for lunch and dinner pretty much can’t be beat. Not to mention — it’s friggin’ good.
And? They do Go-​Box. That makes it 5-​stars, baby!

really I would of only given them one star… but they had such good felafel balls they dredged a second star out of me… (I was kicking and screaming as it came out)
other than that… the prices are too high and the service is no where near the level of their felafel balls
I stepped up to order… then was pushed aside to deliver a previous order… stepped up again… pushed aside again… stepped up and was presented with an order i didn’t make… to me that says they don’t value me as a customer
They probably wont get my lunch money again

OK is the best I can say. I ordered Lamb Greek Salad and Hummus. I was expecting Lamb and got some ground, seasoned luke-​warm substance that had a faint taste of Lamb. The Greek salad had very few vegetables and was mainly lettuce which shouldn’t be in a Greek Salad. The Tzatziki was bland and the hummus tasted as though it was cut with mayonaise. The server was sweet however and tried her best to be helpful. I won’t give up on trying out Portland Food Carts — that’s a really fun experience that I do recommend for a casual lunch — just not this cart.
