History
Established in 2008.
Janet O’Connor and her sidekick took over a space that had been a meal assembly business in mid-2008. Slowly & steadily the meal business gave way to a full-fledged restaurant. They opened a wine shop and offered wine tasting events with paired food courses. Pick a bottle from the wine shop and enjoy it at your table with only a $ 5 corkage.
Late dining is encouraged. You will be greeted warmly until 9 PM Tuesday-Thursday and until 10 on Friday and Saturday. The business has grown steadily as foodies from the neighborhood have learned they no longer need to schlep into the Pearl or Southeast to get a great meal. It gets busier and busier as more folks from the greater area choose BT as a destination restaurant. BT’s motto is simply, «Yes». The hospitality is unsurpassed!
In the Spring of 2010 hard liquor has been added to the menu and special tasty cocktails will undoubtedly crop up in the whimsical and creative organic fashion that makes «freestyle bistro» the perfect description
Meet the Business Owner
Janet O.
Business Owner
Janet is a restaurant lifer, a Foodie. Janet enrolled at Western Culinary Institute. While there she worked in the kitchen at the Ringside and upon graduation she completed her externship and worked at Atwaters in downtown Portland. When her stepmother became terminally ill she moved back to Eugene to help out where she was promptly hired to manage Café Central. After almost two years she moved back to Portland and went back to work in the kitchen at Atwaters for a few years before she began a 12-year stint at Zell’s Café in Southeast Portland. During that time she co-owned the also Savory Tart in the Hollywood District.
Bethany’s Table is Janet’s place. Certainly she has co-created it with David. But the freestyle cuisine is all hers, as is the commitment to comfort food and the simple use of fresh, local ingredients. She works the front, where her talent for hospitality is obvious. However, her heart is in the kitchen where she carves out all the time she can muster.
