I have gotten several pairs of glasses here over the years, and I’ve always had a good experience. It is expensive, but your glasses are one of the first things people see. I would say expect to pay 500−800ish. They have a nice mix of quality, classic styles as well as more unique designs. Great service, friendly people. If you are looking for something more colorful or expressive, this is a good place to look.

Fabulous selection of frames, and an adequate if cursory exam. I was high-​pressured into buying my glasses with pricey progressive lenses, against my wishes for bifocals — I was told clearly and repeatedly that I could come back at any time and they would replace the progressive lenses with bifocals at no added cost. Well, I went in today to do that — the first chance in my very busy schedule, and they said, «No, sorry. That will cost you $ 285.00» I reminded them of their clear offer, and they refused to honor it. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

Great selection of frames that you won’t find anywhere else. Yeah it’s expensive (to me anyway) the price point for most frames seems to hover around 500 dollars.
The GF has made multiple purchases here, she always gets compliments about her glasses.

I gave them two stars because they did do an exam, which seemed to be accurate, and the guy doing it was nice and quick. After that it went down hill. I have never had glasses before, so I was hoping for some education and some questions that would help guide me to the ‘right’ pair of glasses. I told them fashion was not important, function was critical for my work and my life. They kept going back to fashion related things, «what shape frames do you like…» I got so frustrated I left and brought my wife the next time to help me. I ended up walking out with some very expensive glasses. I was struggling to get used to them, so I would call up and they kept saying, «give it time.» After three weeks and calls and emails with Dr Armstrong, I went in ready to ask for my money back. A guy named Chris pointed out that my framed weren’t adjusted to my face. After that I could actually see.
Then they suggested that I try the Transition lenses, which change to dark glasses automatically. It sounded really great, so I paid the extra money… Then I left the country to go back to where I work and live in the Tropics. I found out that Transition only works if they are in direct sunlight. No one in the Tropics stands with their face in the Sun! Now I am back in the US for a bit and called them about this. They want $ 400 to change the lenses.
And, incase they don’t tell you. Transition lenses need direct sun to change… that means that in the car, they don’t change. To me they are selling cool technology that doesn’t help us in real life. I think they are a rip off. I would look for someone who asks questions about what you will use the glasses for…

This place is great. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an eye place where everyone is so friendly and sincerely eager to help you find the glasses that are right for you. They have a great selection and are easy to get a hold of over the phone. Their weekday hours are a bit tough if you work a regular 9 – 5 gig, but they’re open for a few hours both Saturday and Sunday, which is great.

These guys are happy to sell expensive European and Swiss brands.
Unfortunately when it comes to later service and support you’ll feel like you had bought a used car.
Too bad they don’t do justice to the brands they carry.

I bought a pair of hip glasses there. I also both purchased new lenses for old frames and brought them computer glasses –that I stupidly bought online– to fix. All told, I’ve done business with them for four years and I have nothing but great things to say. Super-​nice staff. Competent optometrists. Nicely set up store. Five stars across the board.

Literally, the best experience I’ve ever had purchasing glasses. The Dr. and Staff were so friendly and helpful! I came in and they got me an iced coffee while I waited and then the exam was more thorough than any I’ve ever had! They have a great selection of unique glasses and sunglasses. I will definitely always get my glasses from here.

OK. I admit it, I’m very picky about glasses. For the past 5 years I’ve been wearing glasses from Silver Linings in NYC. They set a very high standard. I wear progressive lenses and Slver Linings advised me to use the finest Japanese progressives. I was delighted and later discovered when I tried to get a pair of glasses from Lenscrafters, that cheaper progressive lenses simply can’t match the performance of the lenses Silver Linings sold me.
So, now I live in Portland Oregon. So I consult Unilocal for the best optometrist and come up with Blink. So, why do I think you should be warned?
Not because of the doctor, the eye examination was conclusive. I’ve had plenty of eye exams in the past, where you weren’t quite sure if they really got it right. This doctor gets it right, and it’s convenient to have a doctor in the store. Silver Linings can’t do that.
The problem is that the sales staff is smarmy and deceptive. I had read Unilocal reviews before I went that mentioned the prices, so I asked for a quote on lenses for existing frames. The salesman went over my needs (finest Japanese progressives– Seiko, scratch resistant coating etc.) and quoted a price. I asked if this was all the best they could do. He said yes, it was the best. I said I’d like to think about it and compare prices.
I returned the next day (without shopping anywhere else — I liked the doctor after all), and said I’d like to buy the lenses. Well, the smarmyness index went over the top, I was asked if I’d like an iced tea? No, I’d like to order the new lenses, I replied. Then he started asking if I’d like improved scratch resistance, plastic types etc. I said that he had already quoted all that yesterday, and he replied, well this is an improvement over that. Then why, I asked, did he tell me yesterday before I was to go shopping that he’d quoted the best? He said he was sorry, then he smiled in the most infuriating way. I think he knew I wasn’t going to go for it, so he wanted to save face. I said, that was a lie yesterday wasn’t it? He said, I’m sorry you feel like that, and smiled again. Well, maybe you like smarmy salespeople like that. If you do, you’ll have a great time at Blink…

This place has many glowing reviews, and I understand why: everyone who works there is friendly, they offer you coffee, and the frame selection is great. I’ve had two exams at this place, and have hesitated to write this review until now exactly because everyone was so nice, but let’s be real: this is the worst eye exam I’ve ever received.
I went to them after spending a year ordering contacts overseas to avoid the cost of an eye exam; at $ 140, they were the cheapest. I was surprised to find that my prescription hadn’t changed that much, though I was having a hard time seeing road signs. In fact, the prescription in my left eye showed vision improvement. That couldn’t be right. Still, I let it go because the doctor I saw insisted that my vision «didn’t need to be ²⁰⁄₂₀.» Okay… if it doesn’t need correction, why am I here? Still, I was able to make it work, and told myself it must be my imagination that my vision seemed worse.
The second exam was a year later, and even worse that the first, and was the fastest eye exam I’ve ever had in my life. Keep in mind I’d mostly gone to places like Sears or Lenscrafters before this. She gave me two different options for contacts, and I told her which ones worked better… and she didn’t correct the prescription. Now if I order from 1−800-CONTACTS, they have a prescription that states that one lens is too strong, while the other isn’t strong enough. Great. When I attempted to call about this, I reached a dead end through a newish person on the phone who didn’t seem to understand what I was talking about. Suffice it to say, I’m ordering overseas again.
I’ve since encountered others who have had the same experience: friendly service, a beautiful office, but an awful exam. This, and other reviews reporting the same thing, lead me to believe that this is an ongoing problem they should take seriously. If you’re uncertain of your prescription, please look elsewhere.

From someone who has been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years, I can easily say that no optometrist has impressed me like Blink has. Friendly staff and Doctors, great funky store, if your looking for an Optometrist that captures SE Portland’s feel this is it!

I almost did 4 stars on this one for the price of the glasses. Its not a shopping mall kind of store. So prices are steep.
But what you get for that is a GREAT selection of glasses and very very friendly sales staff. Not only are they friendly but they seemed to have this amazing ability to match my face with glasses that looked good… not so easy with my face…
Also when they are not all busy they will jump in and help your current sales preson and so now you have two people pulling out well chosen glasses to try.
The glasses came in earlier than promised. I am wearing them as I type.
So I will be back then next time I need a new frame.

This store is awesome! They have the best selection of frames in town and amazing staff. They carry all the regular frames you’d expect, but also hand-​crafted artisan eye wear. The first pair of glasses I purchased didn’t work out and they changed them out for me, no hassle. They simply want people to be happy with their glasses.
The staff will give you an honest opinion on how glasses look on you and go out of their way to help you find the perfect pair for your face and taste.
Even if you don’t need help seeing, they also carry sunglasses in an amazing array of frames. You really should check this place out!

This place is so hip and so cool. I took a picture for my family optometrist out of state and said, how 1987 does your office look now? He responded with, I liked 1987, it was a great year.
Walking in I was already on ice cream high from 50 licks just around the corner. I did a simple Tahitian Vanilla, hand made in shop with lots of love swirled in, but I digress.
Blink. Yes. Walking in, I see shimmering lights, dangling little mirrors, a few cute classy looking workers, and glasses. Glasses of every shape, size, color, style. I saw lights shine down and heard angels sing. I was in eyeglass heaven!
Ive been wearing glasses since 8^th grade, when it was NOT cool to wear glasses. In fact, I wish I had the glasses back from 1989 that the kids use to laugh at me with, bc I’d be the coolest kid now. I have always had a passion for frames :)
Now. Having my infamous chipmunk cheeks, a heavier face structure and a my dads forehead, sometimes finding the right pair can be a pain in the glass… I mean ass. I get easily embarrassed bc being a bigger gal, the glasses I try on can tend to look like kids frames.
However, while talking to 3 different associates, at different times while waiting for my friends eyeball appointment to be over, they ALL had a perfect pair for me to try on! Spot on with measurements and listening to the styles I like, each one of them were able to suggest a pair that I fell in love with each time. I bought a pair of Kate Spades on the spot and have my penny bank already collecting for my next pair which is made from recycled and earth friendly organic materials. I swear ONLY in Portland.
Such a cool shop that did NOT make me feel unwelcome or unhip. Don’t let the hipster neighborhood, look, or vibe fool you, these peeps are so nice and super glad to be there, hell so would I with 50 licks so close… ok ok. time to write that review ;)

What a cool shop. In the past, I always found myself choosing between the best frames I could find in a mediocre shop, not being very excited about any of them.
I just purchased my second set of frames from Blink and cannot recommend them enough. The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and the selection can’t be beat. There is a great range to choose from, a little on the funky side but plenty of options for anyone. They have a lot of great frames for any style. You might pay a little more than some other shops, but for the service, selection and quality, you cannot beat Blink.

I’d been wearing the same pair of glasses for almost 8 years and really needed a change. I’d already gone to several other eyewear places but couldn’t find any glasses that I liked and that flattered my face.
When I walked into Blink, a friendly employee approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her that I wanted plastic, flexible frames but that I didn’t really have much of an idea beyond that. Within 30 seconds she handed me frames that suited my face perfectly and were even tinted with my favorite color (that part must have just been a lucky guess). She also showed me several other promising pairs but in the end I bought the first ones she plucked off the shelf.
I will definitely be going back the next time I need eyewear.

I’ve been visiting eye doctors and opticians since I was a very small child, and Blink is BY FAR the best experience I’ve ever had. They have removed the «clinic» aspect of the whole eye doctor experience, both with a hip décor and great vibe. You walk in and the staff is super friendly and warm, but I didn’t feel «chatted up» like I do in some retail stores. They seemed super genuine. They even offer coffee or tea, water, whatever, like at a good hair salon. And if you don’t want it when you get there, they’ll give it to you to go when you leave. Such a nice touch on top of the incredibly warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The eye exam itself was as painless as could be imagined. The doctor was warm and friendly, explaining what she was doing and answering questions thoroughly, while making the whole thing seem rather enjoyable. She gave me several options that she explained super well.
I don’t need new frames, but if I did, I’d definitely come to Blink, too. They have a huge selection and I saw several just in passing that looked really awesome.
On top of all this amazing service and selection, the costs are generally the same or lower than the nearby competition. And… you can stop at 50 Licks for the best ice cream in the world on the way home. Who could ask for anything more?

My experience here was not so great. I brought in a pair of frames to be filled, frames I love. I noticed a week later one of the Gucci emblems was gone which sucked and cant be replaced so now one of the temples has an empty cut out where the emblem used to be… oh well, but thats not the biggest issue
The girl who did the exam was sweet in a Portland hipster way (what would you expect, really?) But she seemed determined to pick up something with my eyes no other optometrist ever did… and gave me the whole run down of blah blah blah… after I picked up my prescription basically I always felt some weird fish eye thing happening which I was told would pass and didn’t, and for the next 6 months my eyes were fucking killing me… after I moved I went and had another exam and was told that she just made them way to strong with all kinds of corrections I never needed. My eyes have been fine since and no more headaches!
Blink off… very disappointed and at a shitty price

This place was incredible. I first came here when my boyfriend was looking to find some new frames, he ended up going with the Moscot Lemtoshs’. Normally when you go looking for glasses you are just bombarded by a sales person trying to sell you a pair of frames; the employees at Blink have something very special though.
Each of the pair of glasses they carry have a very unique story and history behind them making you not only buy the glasses for the look but also for what the company has done. They are not overbearing and give you just enough information and time to try on some specs without feeling like they are hovering over your shoulder while staring at yourself awkwardly in the mirror.
I ended up going back to get my prescription updated and the vibe was exactly the same way as the few months I was there before, relaxed, enjoyable, and helpful. Such a great place to get some eye candy!

In short: GO HERE, YOUR EYES WILL THANK YOU!
Why I Went: For months, I was experiencing tired eyes whenever at work (on computers), and my headaches became so constant that I haven’t read a book in months (the longest I think I’ve ever gone without reading a book).
I had my first eye appointment in over a decade here. I chose to go to Blink because of the amazing Unilocal reviews.
I left with my very first prescription. Surprised? I wasn’t.
Examination: My appointment was with Dr. Ashley Erdahl and she was personable, sweet, thoughtful, insightful. She was everything I wanted in an eye doctor. She answered all of my questions and even explained the contraptions she was using to me and told me what they were telling her about my vision.
Diagnosis: I have astigmatism and I’m far-​sighted. The appointment itself went fast, so I was surprised she knew already what my vision issues are and the prescription I would need, too. Apparently, I’m a «glasses-​all-​the-​time» person, and she helped me understand what that really means to my day-​to-​day lifestyle. I’m going from 0% to 100% and she sincerely wanted to make my transition less stressful.
Shopping: I decided to purchase my frames and lenses at Blink. I was passed along to someone who helped me shop for the right frames for my face and eyes for about 45 minutes. It was really sweet, and I felt comforted knowing that I wasn’t alone in this, because honestly, going from no glasses ever to picking out a pair I will need to wear all the time every day is a little overwhelming.
Price: The glasses I bought are name-​brand (which is atypical of me, but these frames rock). The appointment itself is very reasonable, though, and there’s no pressure at all to buy from Blink. This really comes down to what your budget allows.
Delivery: I ordered and paid for my prescription the same day as my diagnosis, and I ordered a pair they had available in-​store, but wanted a color they had to ship in — after that, the frames had to be sent to their lab. I was told that my glasses would be ready between 1 — 1 ½ weeks, but they were all ready to go five days after my frame order was placed! They feel and look fantastic. My headaches are already disappearing.
Bonus: They will give you hot cocoa!
