Great service, food and atmosphere. Love the wood paneling and ambiance. Understand they have a new chef and he is slowly updating and tweaking the menu. Highly recommend –we will be back!

Loved this place! My husband and I went here for dinner on a Tuesday night while on vacation. It wasn’t crowed at all so I was nervous it may not be any good but I was pleasantly surprised. We decided to sit at the bar and I’m so glad we did. Several of the bartenders talked to us for a while and genuinely cared about where we were from and how our stay was going. We had such a great time here, the food was good and the staff was just so great! If I ever go back to Portland I would definitely eat here again!

Waiter/bar tender was super welcoming and these guys keep their kitchen open late. Found this walking around downtown late night looking for grub. Not many options around midnight so I was happy they were open because I hate fast food. Menu options looked pretty good and I decided to go with the 3 cheese ravioli. Free bread and softened butter were tasty and fresh. The ravioli came out within a few minutes and came topped with fresh arugula and I’m always happy about arugula, adds a fresh peppery taste that is well needed with rich Italian dishes. After a couple bites I was feeling the cheese combination inside the ravioli and it was really good, but the sauce was not like one I’ve had before. I wouldn’t say it was bad but it wasn’t my favorite. With that said it needed a dash of salt and pepper to break the buttery sauce but a solid 7⁄10 in my book. If I had to do it over I would probably order the fish. There was a boo boo when I ordered and didn’t see the dish comes with sausage, but they gladly replaced and remade the dish for me. Bar keep kept my drink filled and never let the water cup run empty. A+ for service, thanks dude! Portion was not impressive however for the price, I mean. it’s pasta. hook it up. Food and drink were around $ 21, I think any other time of the day there is better options but they did offer the happy hour menu(i just was drawn to the ravioli)

I love Cassidy’s; it is one of my favorite places in Portland. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel or impress you with trendy décor; instead it is comfortable and cozy, a classic«Portland» atmosphere, serving consistently good food from a menu that changes frequently. Service is always friendly and efficient, and they are usually playing some great music too!

The Happy Hour here is one of the best in town. Zagat food for $ 5-$ 8, and a decent drink deal to boot! I have been coming here on and off for the past six years, and while the menu and staff have changed with the times, the classic atmosphere and five-star service keep me coming back.

Came here by default because it was the only thing open late on a Wednesday night. It was a huge place and very dark inside. We sat near the bar area and ordered from their happy hour menu. The waitress took our order and later gave us our food. I ordered a jameson and ginger ale but it definitely tastes like they used ginger beer insead. I didn’t drink it, it was unbearable. The bf didn’t want to order a drink initially but after the waitress gave us our food, she decided to let us know then that his food would be a $ 1 more if he didn’t want to order a drink. I’m not mad at the extra $ 1, I was irritated that she didn’t feel the need to mention it when we first ordered. The cassidy burger was unbelievably average and dry. The mac and cheese was surprisingly decent. The grilled flatbread was really salty. The Ceasar salad could’ve used a little less dressing and more croutons. All in all, this place is not recommended. I’d try to go find another place that’s open late maybe further in downtown.

You know those places where the food AND drinks are good with honestly fast service? This describes Cassidy’s. I hesitate to rave because I don’t want my secret known… If you like Paragon, you’ll reeeeallly enjoy Cassidy’s minus the crowd. The exterior isn’t anything to write home about but the FOOD is. Trust me.

Every time I come here, I always leave happy and satisfied. The food is delicious — both dinner and happy hour, really the only place where you can get food this good, this late. Cocktails are always finely mixed and poured. Service has always been friendly but not overbearing. And you can come fancy or in your jeans. Leaves nothing to be desired, well done!

Amazing burger, cooked perfectly to order and I am a burger freak! Best soft toasted bun. Nicest waitress PLUS I had a high maintenance so cal cocktail order and she nor the bartender were jerks ! They were hesitant, but drink turned out perfect and I complimented him on it and he was appreciative. Love this place. Everyone should come here ! I will return on all next visits to Pdx

Great spot for a date night, so that’s what we did! First off, the specialty drinks are named after the Golden Girls, so that was fun. I had the«Sophia,» which was actually a bit intense for my taste. I should have known, she was the grumpy one. My boyfriend got the«Blanche,» which was fruity and full of bourbon, really tasty! The ambiance is fairly casual and you have to have a sense of humor about the«view» of the halfway house across the street and the people standing around smoking, etc. Or, you could just not sit by the windows. The food was superb. We started with an appetizer of fried calamari. A lot of places have this, but it was very good, served with a unique, mustard-y sauce that was great. I chose the ravioli for my entrée and it did not disappoint. It was served in a sage butter sauce that was to die for! Just amazingly flavorful! They topped the ravioli with an arugula salad. i generally don’t like arugula, but they did something special to this, it was magically delicious! I suspect heavy application of Parmesan may have had something to do with this. My guy had the pasta with meat sauce, which was very good, but not quite as terrific as the ravioli, in my opinion. Our server was perfect, very nice and efficient, without being overbearing. My only minor complaint is that I thought the dessert menu could have been more creative. All they had that night was crème brûlée, pots de crème and ice cream. Blah, we passed. But all in all, a really fab-tastic night that we will remember for some time to come.

To start: I am writing this very late and after several drinks. I say this so you hold my terrible typing against me and NOT Cassidy’s. Simply put: an amazing late-night kitchen combined with an equally great bartender. Came here two nights running and camaraderie was as great as the food. Night 1 was a burger(suggested by Jordan, the bartender). Result: perfection when paired with the right beer. Night 2: Pastrami sandwich paired with more greatness. Also amazing and also suggested by Jordan. Gave a thumbs-up to the guy in the kitchen(because he’s paying attention and wants to know what you think of his magic). Got a thumbs-up and a smile in return. It’s all good here and you’d be silly to pass this place up.

At first blush the place looks like a restaurant with an early bird special. The layout screams welcome people over 60. However, the menu is quite current Portland fresh by season. The salads are top rate with very fresh greens and importantly not dripping in dressing when you forget to order on the side. Overall Cassidy’s is a low to medium priced destination that will surprise you by the quality of the food despite the older look. The happy hour food is a great deal, but a little lacking on healthy options. Cassidy’s is a real deal in this area when compared to Gruner and Tasty on Alder, not to mention you won’t have to wait for ever like will at those restaurants.

Okay, it’s true New Yorkers are always surprised at how early things close up on the West Coast. With so few dining choices after 10PM(aside from the food trucks, but it’s not always what you want), Portlandians are really lucky to have Cassidy’s, a place where a delightful meal, great glass of wine and charming service happen at least until midnight. We were peckish after arriving on a late flight and wanted to reset our clocks by staying up a bit late. We each ordered a salad(my husband, the Butter Lettuce Salad, and me, the Organic Lettuce Salad) and then split the Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce. We loved everything – you can’t go wrong with perfectly seasoned greens and rich, meaty sauce on home made pasta! Our waitress suggested a lovely Nebbiolo wine which was delicious and not at all the most expensive on the menu. All in all a great experience!

Great late night happy hour. The French onion soup was perfect. The burger made it to our top 5. Very juicy with a lot of sauce which I personally love in a burger. Service was great, too! We got sat right away on a Friday night at 10pm.

Had an unexpected free evening in Portland with my boyfriend because a show that we were going to got cancelled. I was excited to try out this place after reading the reviews. There was an interesting smell when we walked in, but I didn’t notice it after awhile. The atmosphere was nice and intimate. Wait staff was very pleasant. I was interested in a wine and the waitress suggested I had a sample. I was glad because I hated it. The complimentary bread that was given to us was tough and cold, not impressed. I got the Veal and Pork ravioli and Bret got a chicken sandwich that had buffalo sauce and blue cheese. I was expecting a lot more food on my plate for how much I paid. It had lemon in the sauce, which I love, but it was way too much. The sandwich was mediocre and the chicken had zero flavor. It came with fries though, which were the tastiest thing at our table! We both finished our plates, but left very dissatisfied. Will not be returning.

My boyfriend and I were in town for Valentines Day this year. Since we were unfamiliar with the area and restaurants we had no idea what we were getting into when we ended up at Cassidy’s. And It was great! Great service, delicious food, and affordable prices. I would definitely recommend it and come back if I am ever back in Portland. We eat out a lot and were expecting a large bill since it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for us, but it was surprisingly inexpensive and we both enjoyed our food! I had steak which was cooked exactly how id asked, and he had the special which was a seafood dish. This would be a good place for a date, time with friends, or a family dinner out. It is very versatile and I think most would enjoy it.

We were spending the evening in Portland. After the mall closed we wanted to catch a late dinner in a nice atmosphere. Unilocal guided our decision to Cassidys and we LOVED it. Quiet and dark with little tea candles on every table. The music was perfect for the setting. So intimate and cozy, not packed and the waiter was extraordinary and attentive. The veal and pork ravioli with arugula was an explosion of flavor. As was the gnocchi and the cassidy burger. The flavors on everything were rich and fantastic. Lets not forget the pot de crème and the crème brûlée. Tasty. A bit pricy, but the experience was fantastic.

We were looking for a place open late on a Sunday evening after finishing a Brewcycle tour and I noticed that Cassidy’s was open late, had decent reviews and wasn’t too far out of the way on the route back to our hotel. The BF and I thought we’d pop in and see if it looked worth sticking around and were very glad that we did. It was a quiet night with only a couple of tables occupying the back of the bar and we were welcomed to sit wherever we wished. We picked a table in view of our friendly bartender(for quick drink service) and picked a couple of promising sounding cocktails. After settling on our entrées and placing our orders we were pleasantly surprised when our food came out within about ten minutes. The meals were delicious(I believe we had the pork shoulder and the chicken) and the service friendly and fast. I was especially impressed since it was late on a Sunday and pretty quiet in this joint. Highly recommended and will definitely return the next time I’m in PDX.

Sooo… this place is wonderful. The scene is dark, woody, and super intimate. Adding to that intimacy is the fact that there’s not a lot of people there. What gives? I’m surprised since it’s such a cool spot; on top of that, they’ve got a late-night happy hour(say what??) that’s pretty respectable. I had a happy hour Caesar salad(which was awesome) and a couple beers – all were reasonably priced. We sat at the bar and our bartender was quick and cool. The only downside might be parking. Depending on WHEN you go you might fight drivers/parkers from the Crystal Ballroom. Is it worth it though? I’d say so.

Food: I was too hungry to take many photos, but I’m happy to talk about the Marinated and Grilled Flank Steak Salad that I ordered. I don’t think this salad blew me away, but it was reasonable for the price. The steak was a little juicy but at least it wasn’t dry. The tomatoes and red onions tasted fresh enough and I was full after finishing the plate. Compared to their variety of food, the selection of beers on tap is much lower which is depressing considering it’s a pub. While nothing was horribly bad, this was just barely above«meh» for me. Features: This is quite a large restaurant and they have a private room for large gatherings in the back. I had absolutely no problem getting a reservation at 7PM here so I’m guessing it gets busier later on a Saturday night. The building is quite old and if you take a look at the walls you can tell this place contributes to Portland’s old history. I’m not a big fan of this style, but I know there’s an audience for this type of restaurant. There’s also a great mural about music outside(picture at the bottom). Service: Food and atmosphere didn’t cut it for me, but the service here was on par with my favourite restaurants. Our waitress was superb at taking and splitting my group’s order, refilling up on water and beer, and accomodating our tourist looks. I am very impressed with the speed and attentiveness here. One-liner: Guaranteed to have space for you Highlight: The service and mural outside Recommended for: Customers who don’t want to wait 2 hours for a busier restaurant Would I go back? No.

You won’t have a wait for a table at Cassidy’s on a Saturday evening, at say around seven or so. At least that was true two weekends ago. Besides our table, there was only one other customer besides us. I don’t know if the 95 degree outside temperature had wilted people’s appetites or if Cassidy’s is more a late night-type spot. The wood-paneled walls in the restaurant had a certain whiff of old money. Service was very good until the end when we were forgotten, or so it seemed. The staff apparently had become deeply engrossed in their chit chat at the bar, and forgot there were actually customers in the restaurant. But up until that point, service was quite good. We loved the complimentary bread. It had an excellent light and feathery texture and the bread came with soft butter. That was the high point of the cuisine. I’ve been on a flatbread kick of late, so I ordered Cassidy’s flatbread($ 10). Their flatbread comes with cotija cheese(a hard white cheese from Michoacan state in Mexico), white sauce, chicken and bits of poblano chile. I requested that they leave off the arugula. Cassidy’s flatbread was just fair. The flavors were okay, but the flatbread was doughy and underbaked. Along with the flatbread, I also ordered French Onion soup. It was very good with an especially delicious broth. Our friend Lindsey just wanted a burger, so that is what she ordered: the Cassidy’s burger with fries($ 12). I felt sorry for her though, because the Cassidy Burger was served on one of those inferior and banal Brioche buns. Poor Lindsey’s Brioche bun soaked up the juices from the burger and(predictably) disintegrated into pieces. JP went with the smoked chicken hash($ 11), topped with a fried egg. He thought it was okay, but wasn’t wowed. While there was some hiccups with our dinner, overall, I’d still have to say Cassidy’s is pretty good.

The food, drinks and happy hour menu are still so amazing! Tonight I had the veal and pork ravioli with a butter lemon sauce and arugula. Divine. $ 4 well cocktails which is hard to find now downtown, anywhere. Forget the trendy and come to Cassidy’s! You won’t regret it.
