History
Established in 1976.
Housed in the YWCA in downtown Portland for the first 12 years, the school grew from two classrooms to three in 1984 and added the Montessori Toddler Community in 1986.
In October 1988 we completed a move to 105 NW Park Avenue on the historic tree lined North Park Blocks where we held a lease on a two-story, 20,000 square foot building.
In 1992 Portland began a renovation of the North Park Blocks which included moving the playground to the block directly across from the school.
In March of 1999, a fifth Children’s House classroom was opened in a senior living center now called «The Terrace» at Larulelhurst Village in Southeast Portland. This program includes an inter-generational component.
In September of 2000 we began a Lower Elementary class (6 – 9 years), and two years later, an Upper Elementary class (9 – 12 years).
We moved to our current location in NW Portland’s Pearl/River District in 2003, and began our second and third
