History

Established in 1999.

Christine’s Math Tutoring was established in 1999 when I realized that some students need one-on-one support to reach their potential in learning math. Barriers in math learning, too often, are seen as a permanent barrier. when indeed they are temporary. With instruction that meets the student at his or her present level of skills and understanding, these barriers can be removed.

For over 12 years, I have helped students not only to improve math skills and understanding, but to take off the pressure that math can place on families.

Meet the Business Owner

Christine D.

Business Owner

I have taught in public and private schools, but decided to teach mathematics in a private, one-on-one setting that allows me to focus on the specific situation of each student.

I grew up in Germany, lived in Munich for ten years, and finished a Masters degree in History there. I married, moved to the US, had two children, and went through the teacher training program at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

I taught ESL for two years at Portland Public Schools, and math for three years at the German American School in Portland. Since then I’ve been tutoring, researching, and refining my teaching skills.

While math has played a major role in my life for many years, my interests are quite varied: from reading to writing, to Wing Chun Kung Fu, to belly dancing, backpacking, and much more.

Learning, seeking, and discovery is my way of life.
