City View Apartments

I still agree with my review. But I want to add that my deposit didn’t come within the legal 31 days of my move out. I had to threaten small claims and call Affinity property management several times. Apparently the manager on site didn’t send them my forwarding address. From start to finish the worst place to live. If I could? ZERO stars.

This review is for Riverstone and City View management, and not the apartment complex itself. The view and location is beautiful, and I never had a problem until I moved out. I moved out and deposited by keys by move out (last day of the month) in the drop box outside of the property manager’s office, as it is closed on Mondays (which happened to be my move out day). I even left a written note stating I had moved out. I subsequently received a prorated charge for the first day of the next month because, as management put it, they did not receive the keys until the first of the month EVEN THOUGH THE OFFICE WAS CLOSED on the previous day. So basically, they charged me because they had a day off. I am very disappointed by this, and tried very hard to work with Riverstone and City View to correct the charge, to no avail. Please, for the sake of future residents, fix your leases and how move out is handled. Not everyone can afford silly charges like this, and residents should not be penalized for moving out at the appropriate time.

Beware the visitor parking. You will get towed if you don’t do some crazy song and dance routine prior to having guests. So heaven forbid you have an emergency late night, on a weekend like one of my friends did. I went to help her when she was in need of assistance, only to wake up and have my car gone, towed in the night and of course astronomical fees to get out of hock.
They have no real amenities yet they constantly jack rates. They keep trying to put lipstick on the pig. It’s a run down, ugly building but in a decent location if you’re attending OHSU.
I’ve never been happier than when my friend moved from this place.

I must agree with all the other negative reviews, and I am currently still stuck living at this place. After reading all these reviews I am even more afraid after my experience that I will be charged a terrible amount for who knows what, but if I can keep people from losing money here like I have, then I suppose that is something. This business does not care about its renters apparently or bad reviews.
DO NOT LIVE HERE IF, YOU HAVE MONEY AND/​OR WANT TO BE IN A NICE QUIET PLACE.
This is my review upon moving in FEB 2014:
I have had a lot of bad luck with living at this establishment. The office staff are some of the most rude and incompetent people I have ever rented from, which is saying a lot as I have traveled a bit. They don’t keep up with the property (dog waste is all over the pet area, despite my complaints as well as it just looking unkept), they failed to supply me with the proper tags for my vehicle resulting in it being towed which they are paying for (thank goodness, however they told me that was not an emergency, so they did not respond to me for over 24 hours). My apartment which seemed in good shape on first inspection, needs lots of repair. Upon doing a walk through, which the leasing agent insisted on, she told us, not to «tell her how to do her job» however, the railing for my balcony was loose which could have resulted in a serious injury (a fall of over 30 feet), they somehow missed that as well as several other simple issues. It seems I was mislead about the quality of this place, I plan to write another review in a month as an update, hopefully there are some changes :)
This is my second review from June 2014, as I said I would provide an update after a longer period of living here.
First the update on the pet area, although the maintenance has tried to keep the area clean, time has revealed it is the lazy pet owners that refuse to be respectable to their neighbors. I’m talking landmines everywhere!
A positive, a garden area has been installed, and parts of the property are slowly being renovated when the staff have time or budget. As for the management, that has changed hands. For the better, I’m not sure yet. The buildings are old, my unit still has the same repairs and a few new ones (which have me far more concerned for my safety) still to be fixed. I was lured to this area because I was thinking it was a classier, quieter, community, being near the OHSU campus, the hills, and with the price… you expect so much more. Instead, I have rude neighbors that don’t understand respectable noise level or hours for the property’s old, thin & intimate structure, to folks who aren’t capable of putting dog waste in a bin 2 feet away, all the way to staff who can’t seem to bothered to do much about your issues (that should have never been issues in the first place). At this point, if I could leave without any form of repercussion, I would run and never look back. Do yourself a favor and if you have any class, don’t make the mistake this gal did.

I had been in City View Apartments for only three weeks when I got selected for commission in the Air Force. I can’t describe how grateful I am to our new Property Manager, Amethyst Amico, for helping me in my needs from being called upon to active duty. At first, I was nervous because I thought she might not understand me, but I was greatly relieved when she told me her background that she’s from a military family herself, so she is familiar with the challenges of what a life in uniform can bring. Dear Ms Amethyst, thank you so much for assisting me — I recommend City View because its leadership understands and supports the varying needs of its tenants with sincerity and compassion. As I leave, I know the new renters occupying my unit will esteem this community just as much if not more.

We have lived in City View for a little over a year in a one bedroom. The apartments have been great. They have great storage, and are pretty large for a one bedroom. Not to mention the view! The price for these apartments is near impossible to find in the Portland area for the quality that they are. And it is awesome to have the trails right at your door step. The management and maintenance crew have been amazing! Seriously I have never bragged about a maintenance guy at any place that we have lived, but they have made our experience living here. I would totally recommend City View. The only reason we are moving is because we want more «walkability» restaurants, shops etc.
