Comfort Suites Portland Airport

This place was great! Room was clean and pretty large — bigger than I expected. The grounds of the hotel were also well-​kept and nicely designed. The staff was all very friendly. The free breakfast was good with healthy options. The free airport shuttle saved me an $ 18 Über ride even after the tip. I think I paid $ 73 for one night which was a great deal given what I got. I’d definitely stay here again.

Chose this place to save a few bucks after an expensive week in Portland. Should have spent a few extra bucks to stay at one of the many other properties nearby. It would have been worth it. Thank goodness we only stayed for one night before our flight out the next morning.
Our «non-​smoking» room had a very strong smell — smoke or something else? — that no amount of airing out (fan running on high, window open, etc) could eliminate or reduce. It was such a weird, obnoxious smell.
The carpets, furniture, etc. all look worn out and out-​dated. Linens and towels are thin, cheap. Complimentary coffee in the lobby was warmed over and nasty tasting.
Friendly customer service barely earns this place 2 stars.

This place had a little bit of a smell, all the upholstery was grungy and the cookies for sale un the lobby were stale. The complimentary crib turned out to be a broken pack’n play play pen.
It didn’t ruin our vacation as the kids didn’t mind, but the level of cleanliness made me a bit squeamish. The room should have no smell, or a nice smell. Also found an ant in our room.

I am only giving two stars because of the location. Sink did not drain, non-​smoking room smelled of smoke, peeling wallpaper, no molding at the floor, 2×6 bed frame and mystery stains. On checkout we tried to tell the desk clerk about our stay and we were told that it was our fault basically for our displeasure. Will not stay again and would not recommend..

Nice clean hotel. Comfy beds, spacious room. Like the seating area and how it’s separated by a small wall. The room had a working microwave and mini fridge. Free breakfast. They serve eggs (either scrambled or an egg patty), sausage, cereal, juice, fruit, 1 waffle maker (if you want to make a waffle there’s always a wait), coffee. I didn’t really like their coffee. You’ll hear a plane fly over every now and then, but it wasn’t too distracting since we weren’t in the room that much anyway. The wifi was a okay, not too fast.
The reason for the 5 stars is we arrived around 6−7am driving from California. My friend went to go see if we could get an early check-​in, at the time we couldn’t since there were no rooms yet available. So, she waited in the lobby and did some work until we were able to check-​in. While the rest of us slept in the car in the parking lot. One of the front desk employees felt bad for us, she let us eat breakfast. While we were eating breakfast, she informed us that our room was ready. She definitely went above and beyond to help us out.

Why did I give a budget hotel five stars? Because this is the king of budget hotels! Great service, clean rooms, comfy bed. If you want a hotel at the Portland airport that won’t break the bank, this is a great bet.

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. The included breakfast had plenty of choices from cereal to a waffle maker to yogurt to a selection of breads, muffins and bagels. There are also hot items that vary day to day. We had sausage and egg patties one day and scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy another. It’s nothing glamourous but it does the job and gets you out the door and on the way.

I like this room. I like being near the airport, friendly staff checked us in. They have guest laundry, which is a plus! Haven’t used it yet but plan to. Room is furnished well. Roomy with space to put things in the bathroom.

I really liked this hotel! Nice and clean. Indoor pool. Small exercise room. Complimentary breakfast. Really nice size room with two beds and a half wall separating a small seating area with a fridge and microwave. Its also pretty close to the airport and the Portland TriMet for those who was don’t to drive everywhere.

I chose this from a list of Priceline Express Deals because of the free airport shuttle, and the favorable ratings from guests. It was more than I usually pay for a higher star level, but it was still less than others near it.
TIP: If you are depending on the airport shuttle, call the hotel ahead of time and let them know! I found out the shuttle only operates until midnight. Fortunately, my flight got in before then. They had instructed me to get my luggage, then call from the courtesy phone in baggage claim. I did so, and they told me who the driver would be (Brandon), what the vehicle would look like (yellow stripe, says Comfort Suites on it) where to wait (Island 2), and how long to wait (20 minutes). All accurate.
I found everyone to be very friendly, check-​in was quick, room was just fine. It smelled musty when I walked in, but turning the A/​C on helped the stagnant air issue. I found it to be clean, bed comfortable, decent amenities. It was perfectly okay for a quick overnight. In the morning, I had a quick free bite. Hot options were make your own waffles (no time), sausage patties, and round things that I thought were pancakes, but very eggy, so maybe it was supposed to be eggs? Probably shouldn’t have put syrup on it then, huh? There was also cereal and other options as well. I had a quick cup of hot tea and had to keep moving.
Shuttle back to the airport was every half hour. Loved how they keep track of you and they even called me when I was running late to catch the one I had asked for. Very considerate!

Polar Vortex Part One (hitting the beginning on January 2014) took us to the Comfort Suites, not so much by plan. Our flight home to the freezing Midwest was cancelled for 4 days and we were left as ‘distressed passenger’ (no kidding, this is what the airline labeled us). As a result of this we ended up with a pink slip (adding to the distress, maybe?!?) and a number to call for local accommodations at a reduced price.
Turns out the price wasn’t all that reduced, but a warm room and a few extra days in Portland weren’t the worst thing I could think of (we were missing –25 temperatures after all) so we happily made reservations, called the shuttle, and an hour later walked into our room.
Since these are suites there is a small kitchen (fridge, coffee, ice bucket) area, a sitting space (adjacent to the beds/​not separate), a bed, bathroom, and the normal desk and chair set up. Nothing too fancy, but certainly enough for a comfortable stay.
Our well packed suitcases were spread out all over the room and while we did bunk here, we also got out on the town.
Biggest pros about this location: proximity (through a complimentary shuttle trip) to the Max (Red Line into downtown and beyond), the continental breakfast (standard toast, cereal, yogurt fare, but also hard boiled eggs, eggs various styles, breakfast meats, and waffles– totally sufficient!), and the airport shuttle.
I’d consider a stay here again, based on the nice accommodation, friendly staff, and advantages listed above.
This is also close to a decent sized shopping center with some food and browsing options if your stay is shorter and you’re looking for a few things to do near the airport.

Avoid this hotel!!! We stayed here through the Thanksgiving Holiday for 3 days. On our last day when we came back to the hotel after visiting family we discovered our room had not been cleaned. I went to the desk for an answer and no one had one other than I had left the do not disturb sign on the door which we had not as it was hanging on the inside of the door when we returned. I asked for clean linin and did receive it later. After discussing the situation with 4 different people including the manager on the day we left about a credit for the lack of service, again no one could help me. I left a voice mail for Joe, the G.M. who didn’t return my call so I called him again. He listened to my request and proceeded to argue with me that I was wrong and his housekeeping staff said the do not disturb sign was on the door. It wasn’t!!! He was very rude and unprofessional and I’m sure Choice Hotels would not have appreciated his tone of voice. He finally said the best he could do was reduce the last night by 50%, which is ok by me but he didn’t have to be such an ass about it! Also if you do stay there avoid room 215 as it is directly above the breakfast area and they start serving at 4am, the noise will wake you!

Found ourselves in need of a room for the night, thanks to an airport kerfuffle that got us in too late to drive home to Bend as originally planned.
The reservation process was easy; the front desk people were cheerful and helpful. When we arrived, checkin was simple (again, super friendly and helpful people — kindness goes a long way after 16+ hours on the road and in the air with three kids in tow!)
We got a room with two queen beds, and there was ample space for not only a pack ‘n play (no extra fee) but also to use the couch cushions in the little sitting area to make a nest for a three year old who was finished being in close proximity to her sister (no sharing of the big cushy bed, thanks just the same!)
I wondered what I might find under the couch cushions (goodness knows mine at home harbor all kinds of linty treasures!) and was pleasantly surprised to find only a couple of old Cheerios. The cushions themselves were in need of a good steam clean, but we just covered them up with an extra sheet. Toddlers aren’t picky. ;)
The *very* nice beds were made up with four fluffy feather pillows and down comforters. I love it when hotels put the bed blankets between two top sheets — it helps insure a bit more cleanliness (you know those decorative type coverlets don’t get washed between guests!).
The room was quite clean, and the bathroom had plenty of extra towels of average quality. The hvac worked well and had an option for keeping the fan on continuously — much appreciated for white noise to help drown out some of the occasional airport noise.
The window opens! You can get fresh air in your room!
There’s a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker on a small recessed counter by the closet. A nice touch.
We slept great, and because we were jet lagged on Central time, appreciated the breakfast hour beginning at 4am.
Breakfast consisted of:
Yogurts
Hard boiled eggs
Donuts (mini)
Bagels, toast, biscuits
Gravy
Scrambled eggs (of dubious quality/​origin, but not wholly inedible)
Three types of cold cereal (including froot loops)
And a DIY waffle batter/​baker station
There’s the typical plastic cups of PB, butter, cream cheese, and jam available. There is sugar free «syrup» if that’s your thing (the HFCS version is in jugs at the tables) for the waffles. Also ketchup and Tabasco (!) packets to help your eggs.
Hot water for tea as well as decaf and regular coffees (mediocre). Juices, water, milk.
There were some excellent bananas (erring on the greener side, which is so rare at these places!), tired looking oranges, and sad, mushy red delicious apples.
Checkout was as easy as handing off the key to the front desk and being waved cheerfully goodbye.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. This was, quite frankly, an incredible value for only $ 85. The only complaint I have is that the wifi was prohibitively slow. No problem for our short overnight stay, but would be an issue for a work trip.

I had stayed just recently for 2 nights at this place; and truly loved it. the service was good. the liked the full fledged breakfast offered at the hotel. starts at 6AM and continues until 10AM on weekend. I am a picky eater but was happily surprised stuff from yogurt to bagels, to donuts and 3 different variety of cereals.
Room was good, sheets were clean and fully functional AC. I am definitely going again. I liked the receptionist suggestions for local sightseeing she was right on.

Checking in and checking out was easy. Room was clean; and I thought rooms were decently priced for a 1 night stay.
Hotel is near Cascade Station Shopping Center, Costco, restaurants, and easy access to highway. Free continental breakfast, wifi, and pool offered as well. You can get a non-​smoking room; and I believe the hotel is pet friendly.

Second time staying here on my annual Portland trip, clean rooms, pleasent staff and I like the nice sitting area in my room. I’m a fan.

Very small parking lot, so get here early and don’t leave! I had a 6am flight out of PDX, so I asked the girls at the front desk what time the shuttle service started from the parking lots to the airport, they did not know. One would think that is a common question for a hotel so close to the airport.
At least the rooms are clean, the beds are comfy. There is some decent shopping & dining right down the road at Cascade Village. The airport is a straight shot down the road; maybe 5 minutes.

Very nice hotel. New, fresh, and clean. Staff is pleasant and up beat.

Hands down, the worst of the chain hotels I’ve found myself in. I got the room comped as part of a campus visit at a school I was touring the next day, and that’s the sole thing that pushed this to one star.
My GPS managed to take me to a different hotel and not being familiar with the area, made for a less than fun experience. Upon arriving, I was greeted by two people who clearly made some poor life choices and wound up in the bottom tier of the hospitality industry.
But that’s not the worst part.
The whole property is laid out very oddly, and that oddness translated to the rooms. The elevator in the lobby is wedged into a tiny hallway that you would miss if there wasn’t a sign pointing it out. When you get to the third floor, or any floor, really, the smell of chemicals and cigarettes will assault the senses. Maybe at one time, this was a smoking hotel and people took full advantage of it. But now it smells almost like a morgue. Walking into your room, especially at night, is an adventure in itself. Lights all off with blackout curtains to block out the streetlight, you find yourself feeling around the walls in the pitch blackness of your room, struggling to find the light switch, which is (in)conveniently located in the closet. Just don’t forget to open the door to find it.
The room was surprisingly spacious. Even had a somewhat nice little sitting area with a recliner and love seat and coffee table. In the little binder that the hotel includes in the room to tell you what’s nearby, I found a a squished juice box. Yay!
The only good thing about this hotel was its proximity to a 24 hour convenience store that had a 24 hour Subway… which happened to be run by the rudest special needs employee ever. But if I worked in a 24 hour Subway, I’d want to hang myself, too.
