Description

Specialties

We specialize in serving rich, traditional Middle Eastern cuisine specific to the region of Iraq. In addition, our chef is well aware of the various dietary restrictions and alternatives people live by these days. We have many vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available, which are clearly labeled on our menu. Our customers are happy with the richness of flavor paired with health-conscious options, without a loss of integrity and authenticity. We are also proud to serve Middle Eastern beer and wine!

History

Established in 2012.

Ghaith and Tiffany Sahib began their venture in the food industry in 2011 with their food cart «Aladdin’s Castle Café» in SE Portland. In their first year of business, they experienced incredible enthusiasm for their food and their story. They were featured in a variety of media, from news articles, to film, to local, national and international magazines. In 2012, the Sahibs opened DarSalam.

At DarSalam, the Sahib family is able to provide their customers with the warmth and hospitality of the Middle East, welcoming guests into their dining room, sharing the culture, people, music, landscapes, textiles, aromas and tastes of Iraq. Their menu is a fusion of Ghaith’s rich knowledge of authentic recipes and Tiffany’s passion for providing delicious options for all types of eaters; vegan, gluten-free and halal.
