This park was recently renovated and re-opened in the late summer. It has a lot of great features and a wonderful location. There is a water feature for the kids, a pavilion for picnics/BBQ, and a nice playground with new slides and other activities for the younger humans. There is a fence around the playground that is incomplete. There are large portholes that are meant to hold community based art, but they are still unfinished. Based on my activism, the city put up a wire mesh for the portholes to protect against kids going through them and straight into the street. Unfortunately, local teens think its a lot of fun to bust the mesh open. They get a few seconds of fun and the younger kids/toddlers are put at risk. The fence then becomes an obstacle for any parent letting their little one enjoy the small freedom of the playground. Unfortunately, I’m concerned that when the art is placed in the fence, it will be similarly vandalized. Its a nice park with some great features. Hopefully the community can embrace having it.
