I’ve had so many horror stories about this particular location, but I actually had a really kind gentleman help me last week. He actually still has his soul. He’s one of the newer employees there but he really carried and wanted to help me get what I needed completed. I had gone through almost 2 hour ordeal two days prior and had to go back with forms that they told me to redo… When I got there apparently the one of the two forms was incorrect again… This is after filling it out exactly the way they had told me to.
Long story short. The kindest gentleman helped me get my forms completed and was extremely patient in the process.
Keep up the good work to the one and only DMV employee with his soul still intact!!!

I’m sitting here waiting for my turn and running out of things to read on my phone, so I thought I’d come here and leave a review. So far my experience has been just fine. The chairs are comfy, the temperature is nice. They have lots of pens. Unfortunately, I may die here, as I’m #468 and they’re on 380, but that remains to be seen. One thing I will say for this DMV is that the employees are legitimately lovely people. They’re happy and friendly and very helpful. I’ve reached the conclusion that they must be pumping drugs through the ventilation, because I’m also not suicidal despite the fact that I can feel myself aging. All in all not the worst DMV experience, as DMVs go.

Drive to Sherwood, its faster! Slowest DMV ever — has been for 10 years and has not changed a bit.

More than 100 people lined up before it even opens at 8 and they have 5 clerks working. What a terribly administered branch of the state government avoid this branch in the mornings

Ah, the great equalizing experience that is the DMV. No matter who you are, you’ll be treated poorly.

Came in here twice, once for my license and once after selling my car. Both times were pretty quick and easy.
When I came in for my license I wasn’t sitting around waiting for too long and was able to get going on the testing part quickly. The machines were easy to understand and testing was a breeze. The gentleman who helped me at the desk was very friendly and didn’t give off the notorious DMV vibe.
The second time I came in I just needed to notify them that I had sold my car. I was able to go to the information desk and speak with the gentleman there and he was able to help me so I didn’t have to wait.
After being used to waiting for at least an hour for service I definitely will not be complatining about the wait times and service here.

Why only accept cash or checks in this day and time? I knew I had to wait, all DMVs are the same. I knew I was going to get so-​so service, all DMVs are the same. But who doesn’t take at least a debit card these days??? That’s as backward as it can get.

This DMV should be avoided. They have so few clerks for so many citizens, that they no longer display the number being served, and they know if they keep the crowd informed that many will leave, so they did this when I went this morning:
I had to circle for 5 minutes looking for a place to park, but finally arrived, took my number and sat, as I am used to doing at other DMVs. No ‘number being served’ displayed. A huge line, which I expected was the ‘test’ line as at other DMVs. Every 5 – 10 minutes a clerk would call for the next in line. Occasionally some very irritated citizen would utter something about the wait and a clerk would reply ‘we’re hiring by the way.‘
After about 15 minutes (and a half-​dozen people leaving with great sighs and rolling eyes) someone announced, ‘would numbers 100 and lower please get in line.’ After a clutch of folks shuffled into line, a DMV helper said ’93 should be first, back to 100.’ My number was 174 so I left.

Oh what happened here? When this branch of the DMV opened, they were crisp, efficient and polite. Whoa– yes, the DMV. But after 6 months they are back to DMV standards; they walk like there is a lack of O2 in the room. Dull faces. Slow talkers. I went to get my name changed on my license and completed the NAME CHANGE FORM. I completed the form and took the the appropriate counter, after a very long wait.
My old name was on the license when I left. I returned to the DMV counter and was told I needed to TELL them I had a name change form, simply handing them the NAME CHANGE FORM was not enough. Completely my fault. The agent was more irritated at my lack of ability to direct his job. It was up to ME to TELL HIM I had a form. Don’t expect him to just read the darn thing. Every stereotype about DMV is true at this location.

This has to be the most unorganized and outdated DMV location I have ever been to. None of the numbers are being called or displayed on an electronic screen, making my progress in waiting very hard to determine. I don’t mind waiting, but the seating area is small and located right in the middle of where the line forms.
Many DMV’s have a receptionist area where you claim a ticket number, so they can inform you of what materials you will need. This one does not, and I waited almost an hour just to learn I needed to bring my passport from home. This is the second day in a row I’m attempting renewing my license and I’m wondering if the Hillsboro DMV would have been a better shot. I’m from CT and have never encountered a single problem until now. So irate!
Not that it even matters– but most DMV’s that typically have people waiting so long have a refreshment cart where you can buy coffees and food. Maybe it would help with the curb appeal.

I would give them 5 stars if they would only have a popcorn machine :)! Who doesn’t love popcorn & it smells delicious! Joking aside, this was hands down THE BEST DMV experience ever! There was a sweet girl at the entrance handing out numbers & directing. Only took a couple of minutes to get help and the lady that helped me (long dark hair) was the sweetest and most helpful person I’ve ever encountered at a DMV. She should be giving training on what great customer service means. I didn’t have the correct paperwork and she walked me through step by step of what I needed to do. I won’t go to any other DMV. Not that I have to visit much but this is the spot!

This was the least unpleasant dmv visit in a long time. We just moved from out of state and had to transfer two drivers licenses and a car title. There was a huge line, but they kept it moving along. The workers were friendly and upbeat. The office ends the computer tests at four, but let us go at 4:15 anyways. We arrived at 3:15 and left at five fifteen with our temporary licenses in hand. They could use mirror at the photo area and perhaps a play area for kids, since our toddler was pretty much bouncing off the walls.

Busy but efficient, the Beaverton dmv is an example of how a public service agency should be operated. Of course I’ve always been a fan of the dmv. I love that money has no place here. Take a number, sit with the public, and wait your turn. Those who complain about the dmv usually cite employee fault or institutional disorganization. The real source of their frustration is having no choice but to sit with general public. «Like, ohmygod, can’t I just do this online or like pay for express servhesss.» Long live the DMV!!!

a much better experience yesterday than a month ago. I was in and out with my 21 day permit in 30 minutes. Friendly people and wait time eh. 30 minutes. EASY PEASY!

Oh my. Why does the DMV have to be such a stressful place!
All the staff was super friendly and generally efficient. There is an initial line everyone must enter to talk to an informational person and get a number. This informational person looks at your application and pieces of identification to make sure you have everything you need.
You then sit in a vast waiting room with 50– 100 people waiting. They call you by number group to another line in groups of ten. Then the honor system kicks in. They don’t check that the 10 (or 20) people lined up are in the right number group. A funny thing happens when people sit in waiting room for 2 hours, they budge. The line of ten begins to fill up with people that are jumping the line by 70 numbers and they don’t get called on it.
I can’t even think about how much longer I had to wait because of budgers. Too painful.
The room is fine, but I sat there wondering how dirty the chairs were; though they didn’t necessarily look it. The whole experience was fine. I’m just glad I don’t have to go back for another 8 years.

I can’t believe I’m giving a DMV 5 stars. For reference, I gave Comcast 1 star and 0 would have been generous.
I’ve been here twice and both times were a breeze. I’ve been to MANY other DMVs and not a single one has come close in terms of pleasant experience or quickness of visit.
Granted, people are cautious about how the long DMV lines will ruin their day. The line forms outside the door before opening. I suggest being 15 minutes early for the most speedy experience. However, they have so many windows open and so many people working, you’re not going to wait that long even if you don’t plan ahead or are unable to get there super early.
They also have a pass system. Maybe this is true for all DMVs, but I’ve never needed it before. I wanted a license that displayed my veteran status, but I didn’t have my DD-​214 (duh…makes sense that they would need that). I got a magical piece of paper that said if I come back the same day with that pass, I wouldn’t have to wait for a number to be called… I’d just walk up to the same booth and stand behind whoever was being helped at the time.
Freakin’ sweet.
By far the fastest and most hastle-​free DMV experience I’ve had.

What? Really?
I’ve been here twice now, and each time was a breeze. Once on a Friday afternoon, the other time on Monday morning just after they opened.
I have been to a Nevada DMV 5+ times and NONE of those times were less than horrible.
It almost seems impossible that this is indeed a DMV.
The first time I went to register/​get Oregon plates. The second time I went to get my Oregon license. Aside from the fact that my picture is horrible since they’re now taking SUPER close-​up photos in order to use their new «face recognition» software (and I look like I weigh 300+ pounds in the photo), it was an easy, painless process. They charge a lot for a license ($ 60 + $ 5 for the test), so I guess I won’t be pretending that I lost my license in order to get a new picture. I paid $ 21.75 for my awesome Nevada license.
The people at the counters aren’t totally miserable. They have pleasant personalities and are very helpful.
Bring more paperwork than you need.
I was surprised they let me take the vision test with my glasses on (Nevada doesn’t let you) and they didn’t ask for proof of insurance (Nevada does).
It was also nice being number 60 versus number 689.

Went here recently to renew my expired license. As Michael H. suggested, you’ll be a leg up if you read the website first and pre-​fill the form and check for all required documents.
But even so, I still have to stand in the long line to get a number. It seems kinda pointless to get a number if it took me 20 – 30 mins just to get the number.
Once I got my number, I could either sit down or stand in another line which is the «express» line. This was useless. it was no faster than the numbers being called. So you better off relief your sore feet from queuing for your number and sit down.
Other than that, all the people are very friendly. Probably friendlier than they should be for working at a DMV. :)

*looks around* am I really reviewing the DMV?! I read some of the other reviews while waiting and while I think it’s nuts, I tend to agree this is one of the better and more organized DMV’s.
I arrived at 11:33am and was in and out in an hour. I had to renew the registration on my car and it was seamless and problem free. Arrived on scene and someone checks you in and makes sure you have everything that you need before wasting and standing in line. What a concept. Anyways that person gives you a number then you got and sit and wait.
Is a nice big comfy place, I think better than the location at Tanasborne where you stand the whole time. Brutal!
I loved it here because I could kick back and relax until I was called on.
Oh, and you know that you’re going to have to pay cash or a check so make sure you do that before you get to the counter. Either have your check written out at least the TO part and have your cash already gotten from the machine! Don’t wait until you’re at the counter. try to at leat make an estimate of how much it will cost and be organized and ready please! That was my public annoucement for today.

Principle alone prevents me from giving any DMV 5-​stars. Honestly, being a 4-​star ‘yay I’m a fan’ is currently making me a bit uncomfortable, so upgrading to ‘woohoo! As good as it gets’ is simply out of the realm of earthly possibilities. However, my recent experience at this DMV dabbled dangerously close to 5-​star territory. Dangerously close.
After nearly 3 years of London living, I finally was a participant in a ‘local induction ceremony’ that catapulted me into ‘official Londoner’ range: I had my handbag nicked. From a proper pub. During a Sunday Roast. All good things for legitimacy points, all terrible things for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon two weeks before my Mexican destination wedding.
But back to the DMV: I knew it was going to be a great experience when I walked in, was instantly greeted by a receptionist who asked what I needed, and genuinely meant it when he responded: «Ohhhh, that suuucks» upon my explanation of why I was there. He then checked to make sure I had brought all of the proper documents and forms *before* giving me a number. The brilliance of this question, nay, the entire interaction, was not lost on me.
The rest of the experience went just as smoothly, and within 30 minutes I was walking out with a newly minted and photoed temporary replacement license and the promise of receiving the official version in the mail within 7 days. To an address in another state.
… Dangerously close.
