Update from the receiving end. My units arrived on schedule to the San Diego location, and the facility was quick in getting a drop-​off time scheduled. The driver was great, and even helped with a couple boxes that were toppling out once I opened the unit.
All in all, Door to Door was effective in getting my belongings from point A to B, but their weekend Customer Service and problem resolution was lacking considering how expensive the service is. I have yet to see if they will reimburse me for paying my movers to jack up and level the units before my departure, and it was unsettling knowing how little control over the actual pickup and delivery Door to Door has themselves. I would use this service again if I were moving across country, but for my state-​to-​state move a Uhaul would have given me more peace of mind and control over my belongings.

I have never written a review before, but I had to express my frustration for this moving company. My strong advice… DON’T USE DOOR TO DOOR!
My fiancée and I had to relocate to Portland OR from Long Beach CA and we decided to go with Door to Door because cost was low. What a mistake! Our initial phone call went really well, and setting up the appointment for pick up was easy. We moved right in the middle of the holidays, so there were some minor delays with the pick up and drop off of our moving containers which was understandable; however, I thought it was odd that this company didn’t pick up or deliver on Wednesday’s or over the weekend. This didn’t bother me too much. Drop off of our containers went smooth, and the pick up for our scheduled date of 12÷30÷13 went smooth as well; however, I asked them to call me when our containers were picked up and in route to our destination. They never called.
Our two containers were supposed to be delivered on 1÷8÷14 but we had to call them to get an update on our stuff. They said they would be delivered on 1÷9÷14 (we had already been roughing it with only the bare necessities for a little over a week). The morning of 1÷9÷14, we received a call not from Door to Door, but from the storage warehouse who works with Door to Door. They said there was a mix up and one of our containers was missing. We then had to contact Door to Door and track our container. They concluded that it was in NY city!!! How THIS got mixed up is beyond me. When we asked for an estimate on our containers arrival, they said they could not give us an estimate until Monday 1÷13÷14. They dropped off our one container and thank goodness it was the container with our bed, couch, TV and major pieces of furniture, but it still doesn’t make up for our things that our still not available to us. Door to Door has not been in contact since last week, and I finally had to call today to get an update on our belongings. They told us that is *should* be delivered today, but there is no guarantee that our stuff would get there by tomorrow. Door to Door NEEDS to compensate us for this awful experience. It’s been 17 days and we still do not have all of our belongings!

This is a time when I wish «zero» stars were an option. My husband and I recently relocated from Washington, DC to Portland, OR. We worked extensively with Door to Door prior to our move in order to iron out the many logistics and details that come along with a cross-​coutry move. Initially, they provided wonderful customer service. Even the man who delivered our storage/​moving bins was terrific. However, things took a turn toward terrible once we arrived in Portland.
We were told that our things would be delivered on the 12^th. Well, the 12^th came and went without a single phone call, email, or any form of correspondence from DTD — in spite of our constant reaching out. Finally, when they did call we were told they needed two days to deliver. At this point we had been living in our new home for 5 days with little provisions. My husband made a trip to the facility (about 25 min away) to retrieve some must have items (i.e. suits for my new job), but we were promised our things would be delivered on the 13^th — no dice, then it was the 14^th — no dice, and then we were told that one of the two delivery trucks was out of commission so it would actually be the 16^th. At this point my husband is on a nickname basis with the DTD people AND the people at the storage facility. He literally understands this process more the DTD.
Well, here we are on the 16^th and apparently one of the drivers had an emergency and the other was in an accident, so no ETA on our things. I find it a little hard to believe that all of these «accidents» happened so coincidentally. I certainly hope everyone is okay — but seriously this is tough to believe.
Its now been a month since DTD picked up our things and we can’t get anyone to return our phone calls to tell us when to expect them.
Bottom line, DTD is cheaper than PODs for a reason. Wish we would have paid the extra money for a more reliable source. For now, I’ll just head home and hang on my lawn chair in the same suit I’ve been wearing for several days.
