I’ve been here twice now. I always get the spicy falafel. It’s super delicious. Spicy is the way to go. Great food even better environment.

Good falafel wraps. Nothing extraordinary, but the falafels were crispy and tasty. They had some pickles in their sandwich too! Live music was a bit jarring for my ears, but tolerable.

Good food, good service, but I can’t for the life of me understand why I have to wait 25 minutes for my falafel sandwich?

Love love love this place! I’m a big fan of falafel sandwiches and this place makes the best I’ve tasted and for a good price. Their falafels are served inside a pity which makes eating is so much easier then when it comes wrapped in the pita. The slaw and pickles also really add a lightness to a sometimes heavy sandwich. They also have vegan gyros which are unique and very tasty.

Catering Take-Out: I used Falafel House PDX to cater a birthday party for my wife. It was a little tricky finding a way to contact them and inquire about orders, but WELL worth the effort. The food was exactly what you would expect from the best falafel truck in town: delicious, plentiful and hot! It was relatively cost effective as far as catering goes. I fed about 25 people Mezza/app style for around $ 120. There is not a fixed catering menu at this time, but Mike suggested a good variety and offered to tweak it to our tastes. The owner was a gem to work with and even offered to put me in contact with some of his sources for those aspects of the proposed menu which his business could not provide. Great food, nice people, and a perfect party!

First day in Portland and tried this place out. Did not disappoint! Had the shawarma fries! Simply amazing. Everything on the menu was under $ 10 per plate. Great food

If you’re a vegan/vegetarian and you haven’t eaten here yet, you need to reevaluate your decision making process! I’ve now had the falafel sandwich and the schwarma sandwich. Both are AMAZING! Easily the best vegan food I’ve eaten! Okay, I’m all out of my exclamation point allotment for the month.

Nice falafel Sammy! I have to say the pickled veggies really made it for me. The falafels themselves were also very good. I would’ve liked a little more acidity to cut the saltiness, however it won’t stop me from coming back for another in the future.

Having lived, worked and traveled in the Middle East for several years, this is the best hummus I’ve had in Portland. It’s creamy, flavorful, and with the hot, fresh pita, is the best! I wasn’t too impressed with the falafel; I’ve had better elsewhere in Portland.

They definitely deserve all the good reviews. I have never had such a flavorful and satisfying falafel sandwich. It had so many fillings with good size crispy falafels that it could easily be one person’s meal. I didn’t get a chance to try their fries but going by all the reviews I will next time. Also they are in a cool food cart pod with a produce market next to it. There’s a fireplace too for the chilly days. I recommend trying this place out.

Oh. My. Word. This has quickly become a favorite for my wife and I. The soy curl shawarma is on point(as a vegetarian, I celebrate finding good sandwiches around town), and my wife says the falafel is awesome. Fries are really good and healthy portions, we usually split an order due to the amount. The only negative I could think up was the amount of sauce that finds its way into my mustache, but it seems more like user error than anything else :)

Just like St. Johns is secretly home to some of the best Mexican food with Tienda Sta. Cruz II, we can now boast THEBEST pita and falafel in Portland, thanks to Michael of Falafel House. Pita is baked fresh daily and is impossibly fluffy and chewy and warm. The falafel are flavorful, crisp on the outside, perfectly sized. And my favorite thing: the toppings are out of the park insane. Depending on what you order, you’ll receive creamy hummus, powerful garlic sauce, harissa, tahini, and tons of quality, house-made pickles and veg, and in abundance. Everything is actually really beautifully composed and colorful when served — wouldn’t notice this ordinarily except that it really is! My favorite item, which I can’t recommend enough, is the Sabich sandwich, with eggplant and egg and fries. It’s too good and I eat it too fast and then it’s gone. Sad face. So glad to have this in St. Johns. Should also mention that this is a very easy place to eat veg/vegan at; all menu items are veg and can easily be made vegan!(Oh, and if this isn’t obvious yet, FYI, this is a food cart.)

As a vegetarian, I’ve never been able to try shawarma… until now! This place is ridiculously delicious, the servings are generous(I always have leftovers), and the staff is friendly. I’m a creature of habit and nearly always get the shawarma fries, with feta added. The non-meat meat has a satisfying texture and solid flavor and the sauces are perfectly garlicky. I appreciate how they layer the meat and sauces between the fries, which helps distribute the goodness more evenly. I’ve also enjoyed their falafel balls and roasted cauliflower, always flavorful and perfectly cooked. TIP! Fries aren’t known for reheating well, but toss your leftovers in a cast iron skillet with a bit of butter or oil and an egg or two and you have yourself a fantastic breakfast hash of sorts with nary a soggy fry in sight. I love you, Falafel House!

I never get tired of Falafel House. I didn’t even know what a falafel was until they joined the St. Johns food cart pod. The food took for-ev-er the first couple of times I tried it, but I think they have grown and resolved that issue. My order is usually ready in under 5 minutes. The sandwiches are super filling and the staff is always polite. Also, they are very consistent. I know what to expect, which isn’t the case with many food carts. Try it people! You won’t be disappointed.

The falafel here is absolutely amazing! Possibly even better than in Detroit(which has the largest middle eastern population outside the, well, Middle East). And the garlic sauce is the best I have ever had. Seriously, every perfect part of this sandwich is amazing. Plus their French fries are to die for. Add to that that the people are so nice and you can grab a beer at the porch. My favorite food cart in Portland.

We love this place. Israeli street food, fresh and delicious. With the beer porch bar just on the other side of the pod it doesn’t get much better than that.

My wife ordered the falafel sandwich and I had the shawarma sandwich while we shared the side of fries. The falafel was excellent but the shawarma had a little too much seasoning and the top portion of the fries were excellent but I felt that there was an in-proportional amount of small fries on the bottom. Over all it was very good and I wish they had a Doner kebab there.

Second time eating here. Food was delicious, now i know my go to place for falafel. this time i got the cauliflor along with the falafel sandwhich. Both were perfect. The cauliflor were big pieces, cooked just right! The woman working there was extremley pleasant and professional.

I don’t rate service, ambiance, cleanliness and wait times; they are too variable. I can put up with anything if the food is good. It is all about the food– that’s it. All of my ratings are based on vegan options only. Notes: So happy this place is back. Not so happy it is so far from me, but that is good for my wallet. Everything was just as fantastic as when it was in brick n mortar. Best falafel in Portland, or anywhere actually. But the tots! Where did the tots go! They were so amazing =(

I love the pickled veggies on their falafel! And the sauce is great! My only complaint would be that it was even a little too garlicky for me, and that’s saying something. But whatever, I know I’ll eat it again and I would say it’s by far the best cart in this pod.

First timer. Tried the shawarma fries with 2 falafel balls. The portion is huge. The taste is out of sight; middle eastern meets Southern fried deliciousness. I’m visiting from Austin and would to have this as a local destination. Be proud, N. Lombard. Be very proud to have a place like this nearby.

After reading about this cart from the Oregonian, I just knew I had to try them out. Even if it means driving all the way to the other side of town(well for me any how’s). It’s tucked in at a small food pod. Plenty of outside seating with a nice tent on the side. So, shall we start with the food ey?! First off, they make everything from scratch, they bake their pita breads fresh right on the cart itself. The falafel had the perfect texture/crunch from the outside and soft in the inside.(big points in my book, as I’ve had over cooked ones before) It comes with a almost coleslaw type of garnish with pickles inside(don’t quote me on this) and some tzatziki on top! The hand cut fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I have to comment on the portion size as well! It’s right on the ball! I finished without feeling a huge brick on my stomach. I was full and satisfied and was still able to walk back to my car! Im a strong believer of QUALITY over QUANTITY! More is not always better. Over all I enjoyed this meal. Why I’m only giving it 4 stars, is because I felt it needed a little bit more sauce in it, and the pickles just didn’t work for me(totally my own preference here). I will definitely be coming back though! This will be on my place to eat, go to recommendations

Falafel House is my favorite food cart in St. Johns’s. Everything on the menu is tasty but I particularly love the Shawarma Sandwich and the Falafel Salad. Do yourself a favor and add an organic egg(only $ 1!) to the salad for an extra treat and protein boost. Or, if sandwiches are your jam, get the spicy version which have just enough heat to meld with the tangy pickles and create perfection. Who knew eating your veggies could feel so indulgent? Great food, great owner, great location. Can’t wait for my next lunch here.

So good! Falafel house offers great vegan fare for a fair price. The Schwarma salad and sandwich are really filling and loaded with goodness. I ordered mine with feta(+$ 1) and side of fries(+$ 1). The fries come with a garlic dipping sauce, that stays with you for days. I really liked the extra cabbage chunks for texture.

Do yourself a favor no matter where you live in the Portland metro area and take a trip up to St. Johns for some amazing food in a quirky food cart pod. I went today and had the Shawarma Spuds, which is marinated soy curls served over french fries and topped with garlic sauce, tahini sauce, and some pickled vegetables. This was an incredibly flavorful and tasty dish. One man stopped to ask me what it was because it looked so good. I also added a side of two falafel balls for $ 1 extra so I could taste them and the falafel is probably the best I’ve had in Portland. It was a really great meal. I talked about it the rest of the day. With so many options close to my home, there’s not a lot of food in Portland that I’m willing to drive 20 minutes to get, but Falafel House is now at the top of that list. Edited to add that I returned a second time and had the shawarma sandwich with a side of roasted cauliflower. Also very delicious! You can’t go wrong at Falafel House!

I’d always heard rave reviews about the falafel at Slabtown, where these two lovely people previously ran their business, and I was sad that I never got a chance to try them out before they closed. What luck to find out that they opened a food cart within walking distance of my home! Woo hoo! This is so awesome!(Well, except for the possibility of putting on a few extra lbs due to eating this lovely falafel too often!) I was finally able to try them out yesterday, and it was worth the wait. Tasty, fantastic falafel! Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, like good falafel should be. I also had some fried eggplant added to my falafel sandwich, and it was buttery and perfectly cooked. It was so good I’m going back again today for another one!(Gah! Let’s hope I can still fit into my pants a couple weeks from now!) As other reviewers have mentioned, the owners are also very kind and personable. It’s always a plus to patronize businesses owned by nice people.

Delicious! My husband and I are so excited to have this addition to the St Johns food truck area. The pitas are handmade and absolutely yummy. The falafel are fried to order, very crisp, fresh, and delicious. Excellent sandwich. On top of the great food, the guy was extremely friendly and very nice to talk to. Look forward to having another sometime soon!

So, so excited to have this lovely couple located in St. Johns. I have a feeling we’re going to be reaaaalll good friends. The Husband tried their falafel salad, and loved it — but really went bananas over their soy curl Schwarma fries. I had the eggplant sandwich on soft, pillowy, home-made pita, and it… well, just look at the photo. Delectable. If these two can keep it at that standard, they will certainly be a local fixture, rocking the Lombard food cart pod for decades to come. Vegetarians/vegans rejoice!

Falafel House just relocated to St Johns and they’re selling out every day for a reason. The falafel sandwiches are delicious. The ingredients are super fresh and the service is terrific.
