I’m surprised to see that after all these reviews, the rating isn’t higher. Having been to all ORFOTM locations, this one is definitely my favorite(and not just because it’s the one I can walk to). Great beers on tap, lots of room(so unless it’s a weekend night, doesn’t seem like too long of a wait ever), good service. Seems like many people tend to complain about the size of the wings, but I’d rather have a normal chicken wing than some huge one grown by pushing them full of god knows what kind of hormones! Personal recommendation– sweet bbq sauce, sweet potato fries, Shocks of Shiba IPA, bacon blue burger… mmmmmm so good.

Love this place, quite a variety of options to choose from. The wings are okay, I always seem to order some when we go but they definitely aren’t the best. Love their fish n chips, tots fries and all their other deep fried goodness. I’ve even had the deep fried nutter butters and those are delicious. My mom is obsessed with their queso but my husband and I weren’t super impressed by it. Everything else was great.

While Fire on the Mountain has always been expensive, they were basically the only game in town that knew how to make wings properly. My last experience suggests they have either forgotten the art or are in too much of a hurry to care about their work. Wings must be cooked long enough to render the fat from throughout the skin, not just the surface. In addition to making them appropriately crispy, they stay crispier in the wet sauce for long enough to last until the end of the meal. Most places, and now FOTM, just cook their wings through and don’t leave them in the few extra minutes it takes to bring them from greasy and fatty to sublimely crunchy. Also, FOTM, charges about a buck a piece for very small wings. That is truly greedy. Chicken is cheap. Wings are not an expensive part of the chicken. They get fried. They get tossed in sauce. It’s not like you need special training, lots of prep time, or a bunch of fancy equipment. They do have yummy sauces.

The place has ambience to catch a game. Noted for its chicken wings. We tried the wings the provide several different sauces. Downside they really don’t have traditional wings. Upside order the oriental & sweet barbecue. They pour a ton of sauce on the wings. It would be nice to see them throw on some carrots & celery with the meal. Still could use more tvs if your trying to catch a game outside of NW.

They get four stars just for their vegan chicken wings. Hella good! Their service is not quite so great. It’s not that they’re rude or anything. Just slow as molasses, especially during the middle of the day. It’s a great place to go with kids though. I think I’ll be back!

You have probably already tried the wings and know they are good, so as a life tip Just know the garlic knots with queso dip are where it’s at!

I’ve had enough bad experiences here that I’m ready to pull the trigger on a 3-star review. Currently standing in the restaurant waiting for my pickup order that was supposed to be ready 20 minutes ago. This is not the first time. Terrible service time and time again… and the food is good, but is it THAT good? No. This location definitely has the advantage of seating more people and has a bigger kitchen then it’s other two locations, but I feel like that’s working against them. They never seem to figure it out and the wait is ALWAYS longer then they say it’ll be. Also — I think it’s a big bummer that you don’t allow dogs on the patio anymore. Will I be back to this location? Probably, yes. But it was time to remind you guys that you have room for improvement on the service side. Oh! And next time an apology for the wait would be appreciated.

I went to Fire on the Mountain on Fremont as my last meal before I started Whole30. I ordered a buffalo crispy chicken salad with blue cheese dressing. When the salad came out the chicken had no buffalo sauce on it. The salad was then drizzled in a blue cheese/mixture that had a tiny bit of sauce in it for the flavor. This is unlike the ones I’ve ordered in the past. Usually the chicken is covered in buffalo sauce and the salad dressing is drizzled over it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked for more buffalo sauce. The waitress brings me out the same diluted salad dressing mixture. #1) When your famous for your sauce that should be the one thing you don’t skimp on. #2) If you are skimping and someone notices best practice says you just bring out the damn SAUCE! It’s ok, there’s plenty of other restaurants in Portland that I don’t have to go here. It’s overrated anyways.

I’ve been here before and the wings are the best-I’m a wimp when it comes to spicy food and the sweet BBQ is the perfect, delicious flavor for me. Service was good — came in a group of 8 on a Saturday night and it was about a 10 – 15 minute wait, took our orders quickly and received our food. The pulled pork nachos were delicious but I shared them with my boyfriend and after a couple of bites we had to stop because it was way too spicy for us… turns out it was the cheese that was burning our mouths so beware! Overall, great service and delicious food, but the actual wings aren’t anything spectacular.

Has a great neighborhood diner feel and the selections are great. Staff is always pleasant and friendly. Great drinks and non alcoholic beverages. Good for family especially. Wings are smaller then Buffalo Wild Wings, but that’s the Hormone free part which is great. Definitely a great place to indulge while in Portland.

Beer only review. Swaying towards the hoppy side, their in-house brewed beer beats most one-shop operations. Though the décor and atmosphere is a little Applebees-esque, their surly bartenders were not.

I know you all expect me to go to this outpost of bony, greasy, chicken deliciousness and eat wings, right? (Read my Rock N Wingz Review if you didnt). Yeah. I got a salad. Listen, my friend visiting from England chose this because she likes wings but I was 1) between work meetings in my usual Hillsboro to Gateway fashion and 2) I didnt want to be covered in hot sauce for my afternoon meeting. It’s a new family and they’re still getting to know me. I am not sure what me presenting myself covered in hot sauce would say about the content of my character. 3) I hadnt seen this friend in 25 years! Not since college in Arizona. I’m not super neat with wings and didnt want to terrify her either. I found her on Facebook. Thats a plus 1 for facebook being good. But I digress… 4) I ate bacon mac and cheese for dinner last night. I needed to eat at least a token bit of salad today. Balance is good. This was a perfect place for old friends to catch up. Our server left us alone after we explained our chatty sitch, and it wasn’t too busy so I didnt feel guilty about not turning the table. I had the buffalo chicken salad with raspberry habanero sauce on my chicken. I liked the chicken, tomatoes, the sauce, and the blue cheese dressing. I thought there were too many raw red onions(left them behind, our server said, wow thats too many!) and I would have liked a cucumber or carrot or two. Maybe a piece of garlic bread? But it was good. My iced tea was, too My friend had medium wings in a lunch special with fries and iced tea. She said they were good. It was very reasonable. Really we could have been most anywhere because we never stopped talking the whole time. I love it when you see an old friend like that and pick up like there wasnt a 25 year gap. Sweet! She grew up to be way cool. My only complaint is that our tea never got refilled. I was so thirsty from all that yakking. Ill go back and eat wings soon. I have had their wings before at parties and liked them.(there was a nice selection of lunchy choices, the bar looked inviting, the patio also seemed good, and our table by the front window was just fine). Go get some wings and a beer. If its nice sit outside. And if you see two old ladies yakking just please ignore us, it just means my friend is in town again. We still have the 90s to cover:)

I love this place. Sigh. They came to Portland and found a slice of need and want and filled the hell out of it. Great wings. Beer, booze, fun, quirk. Hits the fried highlights but more importantly they do wings in a way that my «from upstate NY» husband appreciates and eats like a champ. I first started going to the original spot on interstate and was mildly annoyed with their lax way of business but you know what? They totally transformed the corner of 57th and Fremont… make some nice tasty beers and I guess I’m giving five stars because they are always busy and I appreciate their contributions to the planet! Local chicken. Yes they have off nights because they do an incredible volume but I am writing after probably 20 times there and averaging my thoughts. Confession: I wanted to hate them for some weird reason. But I don’t. After what, 10 years? Five stars… you win. And I win. We all wing!

I’ve heard great things about this place, but I’m really just not a fan. The food isn’t BAD, it’s just not really my cup of tea. If you’re a big sauce person, you’d likely enjoy this place. Friendly service. Tip: They have a tray of sauces and some celery at the counter so you can try the sauces before you order your wings if you’re not familiar. My favorite was the Jamaican Jerk– it has a fun flavor but it was a spicy kick to it as well.

Three words… Jam Session Burger This burger was AMAZING!!! Then the wings… OMG… My mouth is still in awe… My taste buds are still in shock… The staff is awesome … the food is out of this world amazing and the beer was created by GODS. Chocolate oatmeal on tap?!? I have died and gone to heaven. p. s. those that complain about the tiny pieces of chicken in the reviews… do you know that the chicken served here is organic grass fed and probably massaged daily by elves until it’s killed humanely(they fall into a blissfull sleep, complete unaware they shall be dancing on my taste buds come tomorrow) they are not fed hormones that pump them up to proportions that are NEVER meant to be normal in a chicken… quit basing your reviews on size… didn’t anyone ever tell you it’s not the size of the wave… it’s the motion of the ocean!

their wings are sooo not spectacular! small dry and stringy! Sauces are the focus here, clearly not the wings. the chilli cheese tots were spot on and gave me heartburn IMMEDIATELY, which i happily dealt with while shoveling tots into my belly. my companion enjoyed her burger(it was HUGE!) this place gets BUSY! overall, i consider this place a gut-bomb. greasy. fatty. but food like this has its place, and a large following, its just not for me, I left feeling gross and have avoided fried ANYTHING like the plague.

My sister came in to town and I had to talk her into going back here. She kept saying the wings were way to small for the cost. I agree, I tell her, that is why I get the grilled chicken sandwich. So, she orders same sandwich as me, and order of Queso and chips. When the queso hit the table with the homemade chips, I remember why I don’t like them, they are never done and they did not disappoint this time either. Sure enough almost half were chewy flour tortillas still. We asked the waitress if we could get crispier ones and she said that was the crispier ones. Okay. The sandwich comes and my sister opened hers to throw on some ranch and I asked her where the chicken was. I can’t believe being the picture taking Unilocaler I am, I did not snap a picture, but just take my word for it, it was half of a half of chicken breast for the ENTIRE sandwich. I couldn’t believe it, so I opened mine and sure enough, same tiny excuse for a sandwich. I could almost let it go if it were just thin breast meat, but is doesn’t even cover half of the half they cut this sandwich into. If this had been the first time, I wouldn’t feel the need to update the review, but a couple of months ago I was there for a birthday and it was the same thing with the chicken on the sandwich. However, the next time, the breast covered the entire sandwich. We agreed we might have wanted to send it back and ask for chicken that at least covered the bread to a reasonable point. I would hate to think that now their sauces and brew pub are taking off the quality of food is going to suffer because they think people will just keep coming back in.

I’ve heard bits and pieces about Fire on the Mountain since I’ve lived here. Much of it is the same thing. Great sauces, small wings, not cheap. So I hadn’t been. I lived right by the location on E. Burnside too, for over six months. Well I live in the Northeast now and I wanted to watch Monday Night Football because travelling down to Tigard to watch it with my fan club was gonna be too much of a hassle. So I called up the location on Fremont and 57th and asked if they would have it on. Yes they would. I forgot to ask if there would be audio… oh well, live and learn. Service at the bar was great and the staff was attentive and made good beer suggestions. I had the Smoke & Honey Milk Stout and the Oatmeal Stout as well. Both good, I liked the milk stout better. I also ordered some of the wings and got extra hot sauce on them. They were good, and hot, but I think I can handle El Jefe. But like most everyone says, the wings are freakin’ small! They need some of those chickens on steroids. I also got a small order of fries, and those could have fed two people. They were really good, and even a bit sweet. Not a bad place to go, but I’d be more inclined to try some of the other menu items instead of the wings. Enjoy.

Best location. More seating. Friendliest. Love the outdoor patio and also the fact that you actually get waited on vs ordering your good at the counter. Food is tasty and fresh. My favorite things are the Cajun tots with blue cheese… Best blue cheese I have had in a long time. The small size is big enough to split for sure. You can order the larger size but you’ll see what I mean. I thought they made a mistake and gave me a large. I also like the queso and chips A LOT. Wish it was good for you. Guess I shouldn’t worry about health when eating at a wing joint. They have $ 2.50 pints of beer on Mondays and a nice selection to choose from. Beer could be colder and water could have ice. Not deal breakers though. Bathrooms are clean especially for only having two single bathrooms and a lot of customers. I would suggest this place to anybody who wants good wings. My favorite sauces are raspberry habanero and cilantro lime. My boyfriend likes the spicy peanut.
