Four Points by Sheraton Portland East

This hotel is nicely renovated with large rooms. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the staff in 10+ stays here. There’s an on-​site restaurant which I find great for rolling out of bed and grabbing some real (read: hot) breakfast where you can order off a menu. Also works for room service, too. Internet speeds are good and shower pressure’s better than what I get at home.
The location is also convenient – close to I-​84 and a few minutes from I-​205 but not so close that you have to deal with the noise.
For the type of hotel, I’ve been very pleased with my experiences here.

Called and booked a room with a King bed with the hotel directly. Got to the hotel later in the evening and my room type was not available, and the only thing available was an upgraded room. Let me preface by saying that I’ve spent more than 100 days staying in hotel rooms last year for work, and when a room is not available, most hotels apologize and accommodate with another room. But not this hotel; they accused me of booking the wrong room and asking for something else when I told them I shouldn’t have to pay an upgrade fee since my room wasn’t available. Then they refused me service at their hotel because I got upset, and didn’t give me a room until I threatened to complain to Customer Relations.
Next day I asked to speak with the manager, Lauren Remington. As soon as I approached her she greeted me with complete and utter disrespect. She went on to make more accusations, and told me that she herself would have kicked me out of the hotel. She said all this without even listening to what i had to say to her. Lauren was one of the most unprofessional people I have ever encountered.
I called and complained to SPG Customer Relations but nothing was ever done. I would never judge a hotel based on room availability alone since that can happen with every hotel; it’s how the staff handles the situation that really matters. When my room wasn’t available at a Marriott property, I was treated with respect and professionalism, and the staff always tried their best to make sure I was satisfied. This is not the case with SPG and a lot of their brands, considering that I’ve had issues at a couple of W Hotels as well.
I recommend staying with Marriott, but above all else I recommend avoiding this particular hotel completely.

Employees had been really nice and friendly at check out-​in. Reception and typical locations are elegant and beautiful. The areas, nevertheless, require improving. Didn’t want to call housekeeping because it was so late, even though i was cold, didn’t have enough covers on the bed. Restrooms are aged, discolored. Got a great rate, so it was worth it, though horrible view.

****SPG Points Deal****
We stayed here over a weekend to do some shopping. We had a car and was looking for a cheap place to stay with points that was between portland and the falls. Overall, it was a great deal, only 3K points. Its nothing too fancy, equivalent to Comfort Suites. As a platinum, they offer an awesome breakfast.

Toilet had pee all over it from the previous customer and toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. I understand that this is the low end economy Starwood brand but maybe have a little more pride in your product. Staff wasn’t rude, but didn’t especially seem excited about their jobs. Would not stay again.

Room is clean and a good size. The hotel provides free wi-​fi, which is a plus. However, the AC is noisy and has a large sound when turned on. Overall experience is not bad.

Southwest end of hotel very noisy street traffic. Train passes early Monday morning sounding horn since this hotel is located next to train crossing. Front desk not knowledgable on train schedule or housekeeping schedule. Elevator was out of service during a short time during my stay. Was also asked if maintain staff could enter my room during my stay so the ac unit could be serviced… I was scheduled to check out the next morning! Room was very clean.

We came for a business convention and got into the room very late and TIRED. The room was exceptionally clean, large, and super compy! We had a king size bed with fluffy pillows and great bed spread. We even had enough room to blow up a queen size mattress for a friend to sleep. Definitely recommend.

The rooms are clean and well stocked, and the staff is friendly and efficient. The restaurant next door has a wide variety of foods, even for kids. We had to get a roll out bed, and it was a very comfortable, both kids wanted it.

Was very disappointed. Checked into a room in which the bed was not completely made and the heater /​AC unit did not work. Called the front desk and they said «we are out of rooms, will this be an issue?» If it wasn’t an issue I don’t think I would have called. But the room was freezing so we asked for another room and was moved to the room down the hall. The room down the hall was not much better. The furniture was older, the room lights were darker and the room was extremely warm — like 80 degrees. We also ran out of tissue paper within the hour so I had to use toilet paper to blow my nose and found another issue the toilet paper dispenser was broken lol. Would not stay again for $ 200 bucks.

The room was clean and the service was good. The reason for only two stars are as follows:
1. Location. Right next to the railroad tracks. The part of town this is located in is less than desirable. As in the «wrong side of the tracks.»
2. The landscaping on the road frontage was neglected. Garbage and weeds. Not pretty.
3. There area between the hotel and restaurant was poorly maintained. Broken & dirty doors, broken air conditioner, equipment laying around.
4. Cleaning carts were lining the hallways during the entire 24 hours we were there… as if that was where they were storing them?
5. Security was lax. Outside stairway door propped open with a rock for most of the time we were there allowing virtually anyone from the adjacent «wrong side of the tracks» to wander into the hotel.

Worst service ever! Keisha at front desk — insult to the customer service industry! Senerio — my house had a fire, so I am living in a hotel. So I was set up here… Went to ck in and Keisha with her attitude put me in tears. I accidentally forgot my credit card at work and Keisha would not let me check in. After 12 hr work day, a burnt up house I just wanted to sleep. So I had to go to another hotel. (And it’s fabulous Hampton inn)
Then my husband is now staying there. And went hot tubbing and threw his wet towel on the bed. As he was coming there after a days work… Keisha with her attitude loudly stops his and accuses him of urinating the bed because of the wet towel. In front of other guests. Now the housekeeping will not give him anymore lotions do not clean his room or make his bed they will bring him new towels. And he would tip them everyday! But really Keisha? Embarrassing guest like that that mouth needs to go. Worst service ever in the hotel industry.

When i hear name like Sheraton i expect something decent, but not in this case. The hotel is in quite poor condition and seems it has not been renovated for a long time.
Professional photos on the hotel website and expedia don’t show the actual condition, so be careful. I would recommend you to check tripadvisor real travellers’ photos first.
Also, when i stayed there, someone in the next room watched TV till 2−3am, it was quite annoying. I called the reception and complained about the problem. The receptionist promised to call the annoying guest, but seems they did nothing, as the TV was on for a long time after my complaint.

I thought the rooms were okay. It was clean and tidy. The showers were clean. I thought it was pretty cheap for a room with two queens for around 250. But that could just be me and my lack of information/​experiences with hotels and their prices. The A. C was bad though. It kept going on and off. The room was very hot the entire night and was very uncomfortable to sleep in.
Location of this hotel was a bit off too. It didnt seem like there was much to do around the hotel. So my friends and i end up going to target to buy a board game and called it a night. There’s a lot of fast food joints around the place tho.
I don’t think i’d choose this hotel if i were to travel to Oregon again.

We are extremely dissapointed with our experience from start to finish. To begin with the name is deceiving Portland East really means Gresham. There’s nothing to do in the town itself and it’s a lengthy car drive to any real attractions. We paid 600.00 for two rooms only to be told the pool wasn’t working, there’s a grab and go minimal continental breakfast, and last but not least run down old rooms. You are lured in by a newly remodeled foyer and then are ushered to these old outdated rooms with no amenities. The walls are paper thin and the beds are hard. The pool has been broke for quite awhile it was so full of algae you couldn’t see the bottom. The coffee in The foyer was ice cold the next morning and the trash was overflowing. The breakfast area was a mess. They were so understaffed there was no attendant or front desk personnel. Needless to say it would take a lot to ever stay with this company again.

My husband and I are fans of this hotel. We are in this area 4 – 5 times per year to see our grandfather, and have stayed in multiple hotels in the area.
This one is by far our preferred hotel, particularly for the price.
It has a small, but decent fitness facility (and I am saying this compared to the other hotels which have nothing, or have a treadmill that is so ancient its rusty).
The rooms are nothing special, but we find them to be clean. We only shower and sleep here, so that is all we need.
The location is nice for us as it is close to grandpa, and just off the interstate. But if you want to really see Portland, this is the totally wrong hotel for you. Unless you don’t mind taking the train into town. The train is an easy walk from the hotel (easy meaning 1 mile or less).

I had a decent experience here. Yes it’s a bit old and the front desk person kept talking to me like it was my first time at a hotel… while giving me my platinum member points…
Prices are good, but man, this place is so far from where all of the action is at…

This is a great place to stay when you are in Portland.
I have stayed at this hotel about 16 times. It’s a great stopping point when I am visiting family in Oregon, when I am in town from Bellevue Washington.
It’s BETTER than staying with family. I don’t inconvenience anyone. I get a great large, clean room, and I don’t inconvenience anyone.
The staff is very accomodating. They include a continential breakfast with coffee, tea, etc in the morning. They have an indoor pool and hot tub. The clientelle has always been pleasant too.
I plan to make a lot more trips to Portland, and plan to stay at Four Points Sheraton when I do. When you combine a great hotel with the great Starwood rewards program, it doesn’t get any better.

Disappointed they didn’t have any upgraded rooms left for Starwood Gold members when we checked in, but I doubt they are much different. The rooms at this hotel were just fine and clean enough, but my biggest complaint is the awful lighting. They use all the higher color temperature bright white CFL bulbs and it just does not give you that warm comfortable feeling of being in a bedroom or living room. You feel like you’re in an office building the whole entire stay… not very relaxing. The bathroom sink area is also not functional, there is no room to place any of your toiletries and they can easily fall on the floor between the wall and sink. We didn’t mind the «cubbies» in lieu of a dresser for unpacking some clothes, most our stuff hangs up anyways in the closet.
The location felt safe enough and was even convenient for exploring downtown Portland, so don’t be afraid to book out here vs near the airport. The pool and spa area were very small and nothing to write home about and the continental breakfast was handy for picking up a couple pieces of fruit. I enjoyed the complimentary newspaper as well.

Very nice rooms, and attentive and pleasant staff at a very good price. Close enough to the Portland airport to be convenient, but not so close that you get hit with airport prices. The restaurant next door, Xaviers, is good quality although just a little pricey for what you get. Still, good eating with large portions.
I would take the Four Points over the Hampton that’s down the road a ways.

At the price I paid, I was expecting something a little less… nice. But was pleasantly surprised.
Carpet, curtains, furniture are all tasteful and modern. Plenty of storage is provided between a closet with tons of hangers and a dresser built in to the desk. A bunch of friends and I booked rooms here as a mini-​staycation; the pool, hot tub, and exercise room are 24 hours. The heated pool is only a few degrees cooler than the hot tub. The hot tub fits more than six, easily. The front desk clerk brought more towels to the pool for us promptly when asked.
Each room has a flat screen HDTV with Showtime HD. We didn’t check out the movies, but the TV shows were $ 6.99 per episode.
I had a room that faced the parking lot on the second floor. Didn’t have an issue with noise, however I did get a call from the front desk at about 3:30AM because I’d fallen asleep with the TV on (normally I use the sleep timer, but I couldn’t find it).
Lighting in the room was, for the most part, stark. The bulbs were cheap CFLs, and although fixtures were plentiful, the light cast was cold and unflattering. My king sized bed was comfortable with four king sized pillows, and a spare was in the closet. The room was large enough to have two queens in it, but the single king left a large open area that was occupied by an armchair with side table; a small sofa or loveseat would have been more appropriate for this size of a space. The additional coffee table at the end of the bed seemed out of place, but was convenient. However, imitation leather cube ottomans are stored under the bedside tables, making it a cinch to convert the area into a conversation space. My room also had a very nice valet.
The HVAC for the room was quiet, considering it’s a through-​the-​wall unit typically seen in hotels. Simple controls with a digital temperature setting, the unit was powerful enough get my room comfortable within 10 minutes of activation.
I really loved the look of the bathroom. The vanity was designed to look like a big table, with the plumbing open underneath and a simple shelf with a bar for towels. I loved the layout of the toiletries and the bath fixtures were stylish as well. A soap dish was provided as well (something I don’t think I’ve ever seen in a hotel before). A curved shower curtain rod with bright white double curtains hides a surprisingly beige tub and shower unit; adequate in-​shower shelving is provided. Toiletries included were shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and two bars of soap.

Comfy beds. I can’t give the best review because I only stayed here for a quick overnight before an early morning flight.
