I brought in my car to have an inspection. The receptionist said «Sure, bring it in.» That was it. When they gave me the estimate and I found the same repair job elsewhere for $ 200 less, I came in the next day to pick it up. Receptionist said, «That’ll be $ 51 for diagnostics.» Umm, that was never mentioned to me, I never signed anything and I certainly wasn’t prepared to pay anything for just an inspection. I told her so. She said, «Fine, you want to argue about it. I’ll have him bring your car around.» Then the mechanic brought my car around and got out of my car and walked passed me without a word or acknowledgment. I can’t speak to their repair work but I can speak to the fact that they will erroneous charge you for simply inspecting the car without prior approval and their customer service is lacking in obvious information.

Traveling through Portland from out of state, one so far from home can feel vulnerable when encountering sudden vehicle problems. Frank’s took care of our import truck, was upfront and very knowledgable and experienced with the diagnostics, and was very fair about the total cost. Our vacation continues with a positive note!

My car had been parked on the street for nearly three months because I thought there was something seriously wrong with the transmission (sudden clunking noises and shakiness), and I just didn’t have extra money to sink in to it. Finally, I was forced to do something with it when all the cars had to be removed from the street for construction. Frank Warren is right around the corner from my apartment, so we just took it there.
Turns out that there wasn’t anything seriously wrong — it was just low on transmission fluid. It sounds like they did a thorough check, and they really didn’t see anything else of concern. Best of all, they only charged $ 75 for all of this — fantastic.
I didn’t actually talk to anyone there personally because my husband took the car in and picked it up — but he said they were great to deal with.
As my car has over 220k, I will likely need to see them again in the near future. I’ll update my review when I have more info/​experience with them.

So recently a mishap of leaving lights on in a parking lot resulted in a dead battery, which as providence would have it resulted in the discovery that I needed an new alternator… The dilemma was that my mechanic of 6 years who I adored was out of business and I had not taken the time of energy to find a new one.
Les Shawb said go to Frank Warren… it’s just down the street… HA I said NO WAY Les Shwab guy… I know all about you and your rackets… you send your guys to them… they send there guys to you… FORGET IT! Then sitting in a parking lot with just my iphone and a dream I set out to find a new mechanic…
First called Hawthorne Car Clinic (very good… very expensive)…tried the place that works on the radio cabs… and another place that works on disabled vans… which mine is… Price wise Frank Warren was about average BUT it was walking distance from my house so I ultimately went with them…
They were awesome… I couldn’t have been happier… The Van was fixed in less then 24 hours, the cost was 150 $ under the estimate and they were so so so accommodating about pick up!
If you live or work down town these guys rock! They are one block North on 20^th!

Love these guys! Honest, dependable, fast and courteous. Take my Jetta and Ford F150 to Frank’s. Have never found anyone better.
