First off. Fremont Festival. The day starts with a parade of Kids on bicycles, Dogs and whoever wants to act a fool. Lots of participating businesses such as Green dog, Almalfi’s, McPeets. It very family friendly and fun time. It would be nice to see more food vendors and less insurance company venders. Lots of room for improvement at this street fair to keep pace with some of the others in Portland. Live music on 2 stages down from 5 last year. Most of the live music was bluegrass, folk, jazz. Plenty of room here for improvement. don’t worry, you won’t offend anyone if you have a R&B or Salsa or even a Rock N Roll band. Represent the community right… I live in the neighborhood so I participate, but The committee needs to really get this to the next level. Fremont fest you can do better. See you next year.

This Festival takes place once a year in August and it continues to improve. Located on Upper NE Freemont in the Beaumont Village, this Festival is very kid friendly and really a great neighboorhood celebration. Much like a mini version of the Mississippi Street Fair, all of the local restuarants participate, moving outward and taking over the sidewalks as well as setting up temporary food stands. This year there were 3 music stages comprised of a Folk Stage, a Family Stage and the Main Stage. The Festival features a «pub crawl» which I put in quotes because this portion of Freemont does not have a lot of pubs. Overall is it worth a long drive for next years festival? Probably not. However if you are in the nieghboorhood it is worth stopping by and supporting some local shops and restaurants.
