Gentle Dental

I called Dr. Blakely’s office with a dental emergency and his office got me in first thing. The office staff was friendly and efficient. Dr. Blakey was kind and professional which made me feel comfortable. He was able to get his lab to get my repair done very quickly and I was out the door with my problem solved! I was happy with the way my teeth looked and left his office feeling relieved. I would highly recommend Dr. Blakely and his office !

I saw Dr. Blakely for the first time a few months back, he repaired and corrected some work from another dentist and all was well with that, I liked him, the staff and he did good work.
This past weekend though, I chipped my front tooth and he somehow fit me into a obviously busy morning and immediately did the repair, which looked SO much better than gimpy front tooth girl.
Although after I really looked at it, i noticed the color was SLIGHTLY off and went back to ask his opinion and if we could make it any better. Feeling like somewhat like a nag doing this, he put me at ease and was so nice and understanding. He thought this was possible to improve upon and wanted to make sure he could take the time with me, as to try a few possibilities if needed. I was able to get in a few days later and just arrived back from his office with the most awesome front tooth ever! When he handed me the mirror for my approval, I had a moment where I couldn’t even tell which front tooth he had been working on, now that’s what I’m taking about! Plus, he wouldn’t charge me for the second go.
Dr. Blakely, you are awesome and as good as it gets! I’m officially in your hands as a lifer ;)

AMAZING!!! They changed my life! PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ!!! I know it’s another long one. It’s been a few months since I’ve gotten my top teeth done by Dr Blakley. I can’t believe how it changed my life. Everyone I meet I literally mean everyone compliments me on my beautiful smile. I have not stopped smiling ever since. I didn’t plan on getting my bottom ones done but my diabetes was making them weak and discolored. Now you could tell the difference when I was talking or laughing. I came home from Texas for a visit last week and decided to make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned and to talk to DR Blakley about getting the bottom ones done. Yes I was going to fly from Texas just to get them done here. Mackenzie called the lab and checked if they can make a miracle happen and have them done in 4days while I was in town. I was only here for 5days so I didn’t think it was ever going to happen. Not only did they make it happen the amazing team came in today on their day off just to make this possible. The most amazing staff I have ever met, they went above and beyond for me and I can’t thank them enough. The results are beyond perfect. The bottom ones matched my bite so well that there was no adjustment at all necessary. Their amazing work had me in tears. I can’t say enough good things about this clinic Dr Blakely and their super team. They truly changed my life! God bless them and thank you DR Blakely for being so amazing and making me feel at ease. Everyone is so friendly and they treat you like family. I love you guys! Thank you!!! Let the pictures show you just how AMAZING they are at what they do!

Visiting the Gentle Dental on Woodstock is the best dentist experience I have ever had. Each member of the staff was friendly, professional and competent. The dentists and hygienists were all thoughtful and skilled. I highly recommend this office.

From the moment you walk in and are greeted, you can tell this office truly cares about their patients. I was referred by a coworker to come here because they are in network with our insurance and they liked it. When I got there, they had already gotten all my insurance verified even though I forgot the card at home. I got their a little early so I knew I might not get taken back right away, but the receptionist was great offering me coffee or a magazine. I noticed they keep dog biscuits in their lobby for dog walkers down Woodstock. Being a dog owner, I thought that was different and fun. They did have to do X-ray’s, but the technician explained what she was doing and it wasn’t bad. Dr. Blakley told me to keep up the good work. I was happy after 3 years of neglect I was still cavity free. My cleaning was great! It didn’t feel rushed or hurried which I have felt in previous places. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for the neighborhood dentist and team who care.

I went here to get my teeth cleaned and everything went great (no cavities).
Fast forward 6 months and my insurance was set to expire in a couple weeks. I go in and they tell me that I needed to get a crown put on! I tell the doctor I wanted to wait until I got myself back on insurance to get the procedure done. He tells me I can come in and have it «prepped» before my insurance expired and I could come back after I get my insurance straightened out. So I did it… First hour after I cannot chew on that side of my mouth in SEVERE pain. I waited three days before calling and setting up another appointment. When I went in I told him about the pain. They wanted to drill part of the area down to see if that would help. After he drilled I noticed he did the wrong tooth!!! After I explained to him what happened he looked at his assistant as if it was her fault. Then he proceeded to tell me «oh yea well the tooth that hurts is the one you need a crown on». FYI my tooth never hurt before I went in here. Terrible experience. I guess leaving someone in pain is worth 1200 dollars to them.

Had my wisdom teeth removed here. That was fine. The oral surgeon (Asian dude) who got my teeth out was very professional and his assistant… I forget her name but she told me a million times was also great during the procedure (although she made an error herself before the appointment).
Yes, she had me take an x-​ray without asking me first. I figured it was normal but in the back of my mind I was wondering why they had me do that since my dentist was supposed to send them my x-​rays.
Before the procedure, they rang up the charges and had me pay extra for the x-​ray. Tamsin (? I forget her exact name) «explained» to me that my dentist probably sent it to the wrong email or something of the sort and that because of some holiday, my dentist’s office was closed so they couldn’t get my x-​ray sent over ASAP.
Seriously? So why didn’t they follow up when I made the appointment? I had made the appointment for wisdom teeth removal with Gentle Dental MONTHS before the actual procedure. They should’ve followed up at least a week before my procedure to make sure everything was in order.
Then they have me get an x-​ray (which I really HATE getting btw) without ASKING ME FIRST and then CHARGE ME FOR IT and NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE ABOUT HAVING THAT HAPPEN?
Totally unprofessional.

I went here because of the reviews so maybe this will change your mind.
I went for a cleaning and had a small cavity, my first one. I had it filled and two weeks later it was sensitive to hot and cold so I went back in to get it looked at. Dr. Blakley looked at the X-​rays and examined the tooth and came to the conclusion that he didn’t know what was going on and then told me to see a specialist. As I was on a time crunch I drove to another location the same day for the specialist to look at the tooth. The long story short is he told me I needed a root canal and it would cost $ 850 after insurance. I was outraged cause I’ve had no problems with my teeth until they filled a tiny cavity.
I recently went to another dentist who recommended taking out the filling they filled and redoing it. Since he has done this my tooth has been fine.
So, if you want shoddy work done in your mouth, a doctor that can’t even tell his own dental work is causing you pain, and a chain of doctors interested in doing pointless procedures to make money off of you then by all means go here. Also, you will wait a LONG time even if you make an appointment. My first cleaning took them two hours, most of which I sat around waiting and a small amount of which they actually spent cleaning my teeth.

Went in to see if they could fix some cosmetic dentistry from a previous dentist, that was not holding up so well. I was prepared to have it take a lot of time, be very expensive, and in the end to have invested a whole lot more than I wanted to.
I was astonished at the skill of Dr. Steven Blakley and his judicious approach to cosmetic dentistry! The end result was better than I could have hoped for and I’m one very happy client. His assistant Amy was sweet, very kind and explained everything along the way and I felt comfortable during the entire process.
From the moment I arrived and was greeted by the gal at the front desk, I should have known this dental office was different.

DO NOT TRUST DR. NATH!!!
I had a routine procedure in April, and I am still experiencing daily pain and discomfort five months later. I have been told by another dentist that there is no way to fix this and I will just have to live with it. Dr. Nath is a careless and flippant person who does not care about you or your health!!! I wish I would have been warned about this dentist before coming here… I have never posted a Unilocal review before, I just hope I can prevent other people from going through a terrible experience like I did. Please, please avoid!!!
I had to have a (very expensive) gum grafting procedure. Before the procedure, I found the situation to be very disorganized. Dr. Nath’s communication was unclear and flippant. At one point, he called the legitimacy of my career into question, which was offensive and strangely personal. Before the procedure, I requested the information about what I needed to do for post-​op care, but did not receive the proper information until after the procedure, while I was taking painkillers and unable to shop for groceries and supplies.
During the procedure, Dr. Nath thought I was asleep, but I was not. He was talking about his personal life and who he was dating, which I found to be shockingly unprofessional.
And then, he said to one of his assistants, «I really should be paying attention.» Meaning that, he was not paying attention WHILE PERFORMING SURGERY. I would hope that a bare minimum level of care includes paying attention. It was incredibly traumatic to hear that he was not paying attention while cutting and stitching my body, while I was totally vulnerable. TERRIFYING.
After the procedure, I experienced chronic pain and discomfort. Reluctantly, I saw Dr. Nath for follow-​up visits. When I described the pain and discomfort to him, he said, «Nobody has ever told me that before.» Instead of taking my concerns seriously, he blamed my discomfort ON ME.
I had to see another dentist within Gentle Dental to fix this problem, going through a second very painful procedure. I do really appreciate this dentist’s efforts in working with me, and felt like I was treated with care and respect during this experience. While the condition has improved, I will experience lasting discomfort, due to scar tissue.
There is no need for a routine dental procedure to be so stressful and traumatic – and it was due to Dr. Nath’s disregard for me and my care. I can’t believe I paid this person thousands of dollars.

I decided to schedule an appointment at the Woodstock location because I had read so many great reviews online. I was not disappointed. Every single person who works in that office, from the staff that work the front desk all the way to Dr. Blakely were incredibly nice and knowledgable. Also I have to give huge kudos to the two dental hygienists who patiently put up with my incessant talking because I was so nervous. I have already scheduled my next cleaning with them. Also they do orthodontic work, which is great as I don’t want to go to several places in order to take care of my oral hygiene.

Today I had a crown veneer put on and it was the best anesthesia no pain whatsoever lived up to its name Gentle Dental and my dentist dr. Blakely had a great singing voice

Had dental care from Dr. Blakely until moving to Arizona. Excellent care from Dr. Blakely and his staff — including hygienists. Recently saw a dentist in Tucson Arizona who commented on the excellent work Dr. Blakely had done on my crowns and general dental work. Highly recommend this dentist

I have been afraid of the dentist for years. Not because I am afraid of pain. I don’t like it, but I can handle it. It’s the judgment, the work that I know has to be done, and the bill. The last dentist I went to made me feel horrible. And at the end of making me feel horrible, he handed me a work-​up to the tune of $ 17k (pre-​insurance, but still. Insurance only covers so much each year).
It had been a while since I had dental insurance and then when I did have it again, I kept putting off going. I didn’t want to go through that humiliation and disappointment again. But I reached a point where I knew that my one front tooth that kept me from smiling had to go. I don’t trust my friends with great teeth when they tell me they have a great dentist — what do they know about major dental work? So I took to Unilocal.And I found Dr. Blakley.
Something about the other reviews made me comfortable. I set the appointment and explained to them that we have to do this tooth-​by-​tooth. I went in fearing the worst anyway. I really didn’t need to.
They did the x-​rays and figured out what needed to be done. Only a third of the last dentist’s prospective costs (again, pre-​insurance). I needed that front tooth pulled and they were going to put in a bridge. I asked how long I’d be without a front tooth and Dr. Blakley replied «Oh… only about 20 minutes.» The next week he pulled the tooth and they put in a temporary bridge. I had ZERO pain following the extraction and the temporary bridge looked pretty dang good.
OH! Those who hate the dental dam? Dr. Blakley didn’t even use one. He trusted me to keep my tongue out of the way of his tools rather than torture me with a clamped-​open mouth. He may have to on other procedures, but it seems that he only does when he has to and from those of us who dread the dam — we thank you!
Ten weeks and one day later, I now have my permanent bridge and I have found my smile again. I’d show you before and after pics, but I never took a before. I honestly haven’t smiled since the 90s. I had forgotten how. But I can smile now. And I’m actually looking forward to going back to get the rest of the work done, no matter how long it takes.
In addition to Dr. Blakley’s charming and soothing chair-​side manner, the rest of the staff is also AMAZING. They are so supportive and accommodating. You will never feel uncomfortable, humiliated, or robbed at the dentist again. Sure, the needle still sucks, but some things can’t be helped. The rest is a cakewalk.

Came here because it is in the neighborhood and affordable. The staff /​techs are really wonderful — knowledgeable and friendly. The Dr. is also fantastic. Great atmosphere, great people. No one likes going to the dentist, but they definitely make it as pleasant as they can. Highly recommend.

If you’re looking around for a new dentist, look no further than Gentle Dental on SE Woodstock. I had not been to the dentist in over 5 yrs due to a scary and traumatizing experience. Needless to say after 5 yrs. of neglect I had dental issues that could not be ignored any longer. Gentle Dental made my return to the chair as stress free and pleasant as it could be. The front desk staff, led by the very capable, efficient and friendly Mackenzie all go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The hygienist is extremely skilled and gentle. Dr. Blakely, in addition to having great technique is also very compassionate. He puts you at ease and goes out of his way to explain every procedure. The whole time, you just feel like you’re in very capable hands. It’s a good feeling and honestly I don’t know how they could improve on anything, unless they served up champagne and foot massage. Seriously though, do yourself a favor and check them out. You will not be sorry,!

A friend of mine recommended Gentle Dental Woodstock to me and I decided to give them a try. I had been misled at my previous dentist office regarding some fees which they did not let me know about up front. I really appreciated the front office ladies — especially Mackenzie (The manager) who took the time to explain the costs to me. I felt comfortable discussing payment options with her and they were super accommodating. Did I mention that I was able to to get an appointment within the week and was seen after 5PM? Dr. Kim and his assistant stayed an hour late to accommodate my schedule. Dr. Kim was patient and explained what I needed to do in order to fix my teeth and gums and get them healthy again.
I am having a root canal done at the end of the month with Dr. Cutrera. I had a consultation with him at 5:30PM on a Friday. He too took the time to explain what was going to happen during the proceedure and made sure That’s amazing — I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an office with staff so accommodating! They were so nice.

My mom and I recently visited this office for a cleaning, xrays and an exam. Dr. Blakely who is one of primary dentists at this location is a great dentist, he was not only friendly and great at what he does, but he also went out of his way to make his service affordable for my mom and I. Dr. Blakely was very knowledgeable and friendly and provided great dental care to my mom and I. So much that my mom went back to get extensive work on her crowns.
I would highly recommend Dr. Blakely. I have heard of him before as he owned several practices in his long dental career, Gentle Dental is very lucky to have Dr. Blakely at their location. The front office and the rest of the staff are amazing too, I have never met such friendly office members that really know their clients.
I would highly recommend this location and to be seen by Dr. Blakely, you won’t be disappointed.

Gentle Dental staff are so nice! I got a new patient cleaning and a filling. The cleaning was painless, very thorough, and my teeth feel all sparkly and new again!
The filling was so quick and also painless. I was shocked at how quickly the doctor did his magic.
I will definitely be returning!
