Sadly, a first and final review of Good Dog Bad Dog. I’ve been coming here when passing through Portland for nearly 10 years now(they’ve been here almost 13 years). Their final day of operation is December 31st, 2014. :( If you happen to be passing through Portland in the next few days, they are worth a bite to eat. Service is always friendly, the chicken bratwurst is excellent. This always feels like a little piece of comfort food at the airport and service with a smile. It’ll be sad to see them go.

Probably not the best idea for breakfast, but it just sounded good. They make some good«dogs» and it’s not badly priced for«airport» food.

God I love there corndogs, ok beer selection ok, they have one drinkable beer. But hay they got one at least. I’ve only had the corndogs but I love them so I’m gonna guess the rest is great too.

Unfortunately it wasn’t filling at all, but I got to put as much kraut on it as I wanted. The dog itself was a bit small and seemed overcooked/chewy. It was something to try.

My girlfriend and I stopped in for a meal before our flight home. There were two«gangstas» working there in the morning. They were not pleasant or professional. I ordered my meal without cheese. When it came out with cheese on it, my girlfriend kindly reminded them we asked for no cheese. One gangsta rudely grabs the food and slams it right into the trash in front of her as if to show her that she ruined his day. He then turns around and starts cooking with his homie all the while cussing up a storm. An elderly man who was waiting for his food angrily glared at the two gangstas as they loudly used words like«Sh%$» and«M@therF*&%&&» while preparing our food. Very unprofessional. The food was good, but they need to have some standards when they hire people. Then again… you don’t need an education/skills/class to cook hotdogs at the airport.

Decent pricing for an airport, good effort food, but not amazing. When faced with the underwhelming options of an airport, would I choose this? Yes. Is it the best PDX has to offer? I hope not. Had their Oregonian that touted as a smoky sausage. It was very juicy and hot, but missed that rich hearty flavor I expect of a hot dog. Little bits inside the dog kept getting stuck in my teeth. The onions on top didn’t really add any oomph The fries were delicious — little skinny but not overly crispy. The tipping bar is also clean and nicely done with multiple topping options, and a great spicy sweet mustard. I’m interested in returning to try their corn dog. As expected, it’s greasy good fare, jus not a «wow» even with lowered airport standards. Service was quick and friendly so that’s a major plus!

PDX has one of the highest airport rating on Unilocal,so you would assume the restaurant selection would heavily attribute to that. Compared to some of the worst in the nation(IAD), it’s definitely at the top and Good Dog-Bad Dog is a testament of that. They open around 4am, so it’s perfect if you have an early morning flight. Although the food is heavy for breakfast, we didn’t care and devoured it all. Selection is large and they feature some unique dishes. — Oregon Smokey: Hickory smoked pork, garlic, molasses, and cayenne pepper. A high quality sausage in a mediocre bun. You can get it with grilled onions and a variety of toppings on the side. Can’t complain as this is most likely the best sausage you can get at PDX. — Santa Fe Bowl: Potatoes, sausage pieces, onions, jalapenos and CHEESE. Lots and lots of cheese. It looks and feels incredibly unhealthy, but tastes great. Perfect to share for two. Employees are what you would expect from an airport joint. Mundane, unfriendly, but get your order done quickly. Not bad at all.

Great little find in the airport. I got the Boardroom dog with a Portland sausage and the chili cheese dog. Both were great. The sauce on the boardroom was delicious with flavor without being too salty. The chili cheese dog was what you would expect. They have ketchup and different kinds of mustard for sipping sauce. Prices are reasonable especially since it’s in the airport. I thought it was quality fast food, better than most airport food. The guy who took my order was friendly and helpful. My only complain is the sauce and toppings station was messy and needed some cleaning up. I had my food within 5 minutes of ordering. All in all a good experience.

A good alternative to the typical airport selections. I ordered the large all-beef dog combo. It was pretty good — not as good as a New York or Chicago hot-dog stand, but pretty close — especially for being in the middle of an airport terminal. The location is good, the hours open are pretty wide, and the service was pretty quick. The fries were tasty, and the hotdog filled me and travelled well(i.e. put it in a bag and ate it 45 minutes later on the plane). If I am hungry, and in PDX, I would go back here again.

We originally passed up this food stand because it looked too marginal, but when our first choice had a long line and was understaffed, we circled back this this place. First, it’s a hot dog stand – my dog was super salty; I was thirsty for the rest of the day. The service was passable – a disinterested teenager at the register and a few more cooking the food. The only good news from this lunch is that it was fast, and I easily caught my flight and will never eat here again. If you’re tempted to eat here out of sheer convenience, resist.

Nothing makes this gal happier at an airport in the morning than discovering a place that knows that some of us don’t have to have the same olé boring breakfast foods every morning… I’m always ready to be bad, so bring on the dog! So which one? Well, when I heard that this is the only place to get a Smoky Oregon, and that it is the spiciest one, that was the one for me. And since grilled onions were an option to go on that bad boy, I had to have them also. I wanted to try the fries too, but because they were over four bucks, I assumed they would be too much, so I went with just the dog and a drink. In hindsight I wish I had ordered the fries too, because they sure looked thin and delicious! They have a condiment bar, which could have used some cleaning and replenishing, but I managed to pump out some killer sweet & spicy mustard that sealed the deal on this bad boy. YUM! I would definitely seek this place out again when flying through!

I take the early morning flights with layovers at PDX, so I always try to fill that belly before I board. The Boyfriend recommended Good Dog/Bad Dog for a while, but I couldn’t find it until we had a flight home together last month. The interior is pretty refreshing(so many doggies!!), a nice change from all of the fast food joints at other airports. It wasn’t busy at 6 a.m. There were just two workers, but the food came out quickly. We ordered the«Big Dog Hot Dog,» a delicious original all-beef hot dog which we topped with condiments. There’s a condiments table at the front and I could not recommend the sauerkraut and sweet-spicy mustard enough! I’m one of those folks who needs the buns AND fries. I naturally gravitate towards sweet potato fries(which Good Dog/Bad Dog has), but The Boyfriend insisted I order their regular french fries. They were crispy but with substance the way I like it! No regrets there! They will probably be the one place I’ll choose regular fries over my sweet potato fries. There’s such a variety of hot dogs at Good Dog/Bad Dog and everything is made-to-order so it comes out fresh!

I love anyplace that is dog-centric. So yay, I’m a fan. My flight back to Denver was delayed 3 hours so after working from the Starbuck’s across the hall long enough to make my eyes go cross, I spotted Good Dog/Bad Dog. This has got to be classiest fast food hot dog spot in any airport. By a slim margin, it even nudges past Steve’s Snappin’ Dogs at DIA, which I love, btw(check out that review). Like most airport food joints, space is tight. But quality makes up for it. I ordered the Oregon Smokey, which is touted as one of their most popular. I can see why. It was a quality dog worthy of re-orders. [see photo] The dining area is extremely clean and gives more than just a casual nod to man’s best friend. There are beautiful photos of dogs(like Goldens, even) all over the place. I found them all captivating. But one problem: they made me miss my dogs back home even more. Hate delayed flights, but Good Dog/Bad Dog helped pass the time. Definitely check this place out if you’re in PDX with a moment to spare.

For airport food, this was actually not bad! I got the Bratswurst and my friend got the portland dog(the famous one). They were both yummy but for the price and size, it really was not worth it. I like the condiment station they offered, lots of variety — sauerkraut, diff types of mustards, ketchup, relish, onions, etc. It was pretty legit for airport food. Careful on the sweet and spicy mustard, that one just goes straight up your nose when you eat it.

Been here a few times now for both breakfast & dinner or anytime they are open and we are passing by on our way to a connecting flight. Solid four stars. Minus one for price… but is that really fair? To dock them a star for price? Second guessing myself here. I mean it is at the airport so in reality, I’m never really shocked at what I’m paying anymore for airport fare unless it’s super cheap(which is never) or over the top expensive for what you get(also a rarity these days). So in essence, my star deduction for price is merely from the standpoint that it’s not necessarily cheap and it’s more than you’d expect to pay outside of this venue. All that said, here is the down & dirty: 1) It’s unique. Might be a local chain but hey… it’s not McDonalds or Burger King. 2) It’s fresh. Fresh? A hot dog? Yes! They are made to order. Which also means it’s piping hot when you get it. No cold dogs here. In fact, my first bite usually has me doing the mouth open«ah ah ah it’s hot» arm waving, sucking in air thing, as I reach for a drink. 3) Lots of variety. Some really interesting choices that make it hard to choose at times. They ALL look good. I’m willing /wanting to try them all. 4) Fast & friendly service. Every time we’ve stopped in, they’ve done great. You can watch them cook up your dog right there. The breakfast one had me truly mesmerized as I watched her technique for rolling the dog up in the egg-like omelette. Considering it’s all made to order, I think they do a reasonable job of being very timely about getting your food out to you without much wait… but don’t stop in here if you are in a rush. Remember that it’s «made to order». 5) Beer. Who doesn’t like a beer and a dog? Only thing missing is the ball game. But if you are in luck, there might be one playing on the flat screen. Just don’t take your beer out of the restaurant… to sit at the tables nearby out in the center. Gotta consume it on site. To sum it all up, I genuinely look forward to a layover at PDX just for a chance to pop in here and try another concoction they’ve dreamt up. Good Dog-Bad Dog is a hit with me.

Hey not good or bad but inbetween, and as far airport food goes you are fairly impressive. You step off on the wrong foot by charging prices that are not so justifiable, but hey when the industry has set a standard of raping its customers you have to continue right? The food is actually fairly decent quality. Stopped in on a layover for breakfast and I was actually kind of impressed with the breakfast dog. It was fresh and made to order and I was quite alright with my meal. I wouldnt write a love letter about it but I would say that it was a pretty good option amongst not-so-good options.

Great place to grab a quick bite while you’re waiting for your flight at the Portland Airport. I got the Sweet Italian gourmet hot dog and it was delicious! 10x better than a Costco or ball park hot dog. They have a condiment station so you can add as much kraut, relish, onions, ketchup, etc. as you’d like. Best airport food at PDX — Concourse C!

OK, disclaimer time– they would normally warrant 4 start, but they get a +1 because is is: «The best PDX airport food.» My GF frequently travels and will often grab these on her way home. I’ll grab one whenever I’m passing it to or from a destination. I love this place. They used to have a downtown Portland location, as well. I was there very often and am sad it is no longer there.

A bit overpriced, even for airport food. The sausages are good, but not for $ 7+, without adding fries or a drink. The bun is pretty tasty, though. I had the Oregon Smokey or some such thing(#1), which was basically a sausage on a bun. No toppings came on it, but there is an area where you can add mustard, ketchup, vinegar, kraut, peppers, and a couple other things. It was okay. My wife had the reuben dog, which came with cheese and kraut. Much flavorful, and I felt like she got much more than I did for only 50 cents more. ‘Twas tasty. I will say the kraut is pretty delicious here. Perhaps the best thing… so if you like kraut, make sure you get it in some fashion.

Somehow the name attracts me at first, so cute. We just bumped in there when we were transferring at portland. The food is actually good. Both my bf’s and mine are yummy! Mine is oregon sausage, juicy and chewy and mmm~~ The sausages are awesome. The sauce there is really good too, they have at least 5 pumps for different sauce. Be aware, one of the mustard is really spicy and a bit strong as the Japanese wasabi. We had a bowl of chili and a fries too. Love the fries! Oh, the deco of the store is lovely with different styles of doggie pic on the wall. Real photo or comics. It’s just fun to view them while eating up the good hotdog. It’s a nice quick place to stop by at an airport. :)
