History

Established in 2011.

Good Garbage was founded in 2011 by owner Bill Bradley to employ out of work athletes and fighters. Bill started the company to provide Portland with affordable garbage removal while promoting the values of hard work, honesty, fair pricing. Today, Good Garbage is proud to say our values have help us develop a reputation of providing excellent service for Portland and surrounding areas.

Meet the Manager

Dan C.

Manager

Dan has worked in a diverse variety of occupations including: bio-​medical and pharmaceutical laboratory research, granite/​marble fabrication and installation, as a Certified Dialysis Technician, IT technical support, a lead line cook in an Irish Pub and most recently an Intensive Adult Mental Health Case Manager. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of the Arts in Philosophy in 2013 from the University of Montana and has (or has held) several certifications in various fields including: C.N.A., C.C.H.T., P.A.L.S., Red Cross B.L.S. and has worked/​volunteered as a certified life guard. Additionally, he has volunteered extensively for Big Brothers Big Sisters assisting with match activities, events, and as a wilderness survival instructor. Dan grew up in Missoula, MT and has spends most of his free time in the outdoors of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, and Oregon. He enjoys fly fishing, archery, shooting trap/​skeet, rafting, canoeing, hiking, camping, backpacking and skiing.

Mad I didn’t get rid of the junk sooner. They were prompt, fast, and get rid of everything-​unless its chemicals. Got rid of old couches, and a patio of random garbage and junk for couple hundred. Worth it. Finally a clean garage and that alone is worth 5 stars.

Excellent response time. Called them in the AM. Had a guy come around Noon to look at the pile of schwag and give me an estimate. Decent /​Fair pricing. He took the stuff at that moment and it was out of the garage. Prompt and courteous service all the way.

Had an excellent experience with these guys! We needed some last minutes items (bamboo, fridge, & large table) hauled away and they were able to accommodate us within 3 days which was great! They were fast, clean, and extremely professional. Would highly recommend!

These guys are freaking awesome. Buddy was great at getting back to me quickly and setting up a time that worked with my schedule. Everything from the initial contact to the pick up was super smooth and easy. I filled up almost a truckload and they were in and out in 30 minutes. Totally exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to anyone!

Buddy and the guys were better than I ever expected. We were moving and had to downsize. His crew was on time and very professional. They stayed till it was completely clean and broom swept!

Worst service I’ve had in a while. They quoted about a week out blocking a 2 hour window. I set things up in my yard so it would be easy access and to clear out the basement. There were vermin. 20 minutes before the arrival time where I had to take off work to meet them, they said that they had to do some sort of recycling Run. After waiting so long they couldn’t take my junk and wanted me to wait another few days till Friday. They are separated $ 250 more then the company I hired that night who arrived the next morning. I would give them a zero if I could. Nor did they care that their failure to pick up the trash or dare make it a point to prioritize need for the next day, would keep me from renting the house. I was grateful to find another company that was responsive. don’t use these people if they treat you like me. Neither affordable or timely.

Had Brian and Ali stop by today to pick up some of my old junk. They were on time, super nice chill guys, took care of everything really quickly. No muss, no fuss! Prices were fine too. Definitely recommend!

These guys are amazing. they scheduled within a few days, arrived when they said they would, loaded everything from my basement, I didnt have to lift a finger.
They were honest too! they estimated my stuff at being half a truck load and quoted me a price, then when they were done loading they told me that my stuff was only a quarter of a load, and adjusted the price. They even waited while I found a fes things to add to the load. Super friendly, neat and clean!!! I highly recommend!

These guys definitely rock. They made an appointment, came promptly, were flexible about me adding a few more things to the haul that I hadn’t originally thought of, quickly loaded it off, and charged me a very fair price. Oh, and were nice, friendly people to boot. I can’t ask for better!

Great experience with Good Garbage today! I just moved to a new place, and had a ton of stuff left in my old place that I wanted to get rid of (and very little time to take care of it). Lots of random household items like bedding, books, lamps, CDs, cookware, etc., perfectly donatable stuff, and a small pile of throw-​away stuff. By myself, it would have taken several hours and carloads to clear out. Josiah and Brian showed up on time, and were able to clear out in less than 30 minutes! Such a relief to not have to manage the load by myself, and to know that they are going to take care of donatables for me too.
I originally booked the job with a large national chain, because that was all I knew. So glad I decided to take the time to research other options, and wound up finding these guys (and canceling my other reservation). Not only were they a breeze to work with, their prices are significantly lower than 1−800-something-something.
I learned a good life lesson, too. Don’t let so much «stuff» collect in your life that you have to pay someone to remove it! :) That probably does not bode well for their business though…

The guys that arrived to collect my bulky trash were on time, polite, and professional. Price was a bit steep for what I had to throw away, the volume certainly wasn’t an 1⁄8th of the truck, but trying to throw out bulky items in Portland is pretty frustrating so this was definitely easier and I prefer to support local outfits.
My one complaint? They hold onto your check. Even after calling and asking «please cash my check» and being told it will be done the next day, it still takes forever. In fact, as I write this review, it’s been 10 days and counting since I wrote the check. Six days since I called and asked them to cash it. Some people do strictly online banking and having that sum of money just hanging out there is very frustrating.
So, if you need trash pick up, I recommend these guys. But pay them in cash. Otherwise they will not only take away your trash, but also hold your bank account hostage for an indefinite amount of time.

Great service, very professional, quick and friendly. Came over and cheerfully hauled away a ton of junk from 3 different floors and a garage in a massive downpour, stopping only to give me a discount for being 20 minutes late. Very communicative about the previous job that held them up too, so I knew their ETA all the while. Everything went smoothly, from the call-​backs to the pricing structure. They charge by volume not the pound, which is nice. Will defo call them up again.

After accidentally getting overbooked (on their end), it took about eight emails back and forth to find a day and time that worked. But once they showed up, it was right to business. The job ended up costing me less than the initial estimate — reading the other reviews, I see it’s an awesome tactic. But we also compared the estimate with having rented a dumpster to clean out some stuff a few years ago — Good Garbage’s pricing was definitely competitive. I like the idea that they’re taking care of the crap they haul off responsibly too — not just straight to the dump, but getting stuff recycled. Thanks for taking a load off my mind, guys!

These guys were GREAT. We are clearing out my inlaws’ house, where they lived for 43 years and never threw much of anything away. Not only did the Good Garbage guys work hard, and do their jobs quickly and efficiently – but they also also showed incredible patience with our family dramas and angst that came up in the process. They were altogether pleasant and a joy to work with. We would hire them again without hesitation – worth every penny!
