The WORST goodwill I’ve ever been at in my life. Prices are SOO high. I could barely handle being in there for more than 15min. I saw few items which were obviously good quality but NO brand name (the tags were torn off) and the prices were $ 50!!! For what? Who gives you the right to put such a high price on a dress that has no brand name? Who ever is running the store needs to be let go. Other goodwills in Portland are way better. Dont waste your time.

This Goodwill had a great variety and was well put together. This part of Portland draws some interesting items along with shoppers. The security guard was new I had not seen something like that in any GW before and shop many in the Portland area. Left with two boxes of items that were priced fair. Nothing is free these days so not sure why people are complaining of prices. If you look at new its also risen in prices.

They pull the color tag that’s 50% off and hide it in the back until the week’s over. I see you, Goodwill. Good? More like Evil.
I’ll give this place two stars because I’ve found some gems here, but it’s not like that’s due to Goodwill or anything. They charge up the wazoo but luckily I’ve got a good eye and recognize awesome brands that Goodwill is still in the dark about so they don’t price accordingly.

I love to reuse and save the environment and I love thrift stores, but Goodwill in Portland is a waste of time.
Especially the one on Broadway!
Prices are often close to retail, or even more, you can find stuff from Target with the original sticker of 29.99 $ selling for 35 $, and even stuff meant to be free, like tile samples, or even post office boxes for sale… kinda ridiculous! But whatever…
AND I REALLY DON’T LIKE THE SECURITY GUARD IN MY FACE ALL THE TIME!
I feel I can’t even look at stuff, And that I’m NOT WELCOME IN THERE!
Mind you that I’m always well dressed, never have backpacks, bags or anything «suspicious», and I usually freaking look at books!
Do you really think someone is going to steal a 5 $ old moldy T-​Shirt at Goodwill? Are you kidding?
Do yourself a favor, and go shop in one of the other thrift stores, or even Ross, Marshals or Nordstrom Rack, prices are pretty much the same for nice, new and clean stuff, and there are plenty of antique store and bookstores in town… with nice staff!
What a joke!

This is a great place to drop off your unused items to help someone in need. I particularly like this location because they will have a worker come out to help unload your car if you have more than a box or two. Unfortunately, they don’t have a dedicated parking lot, so you have to get lucky with the loading parking spot on the street. However, you can usually park in the driveway adjacent as they are usually closed and not allowing people to park in their lot.

Got a new (partial) set of beautiful vintage china here. It was exactly what I was looking for, and about $ 20 for 5 smallish plates and one matching big plate. And the third Hunger Games book. A wee embarrassed to say that I got out of line to buy this, and stayed up late the next night reading it. But at least my snacks were on pretty plates.

I love Goodwill for bargain hunts. The prices in here are effing ridiculous. Many prices are, in fact, greater than retail at regular chains.

This is the Goodwill I gravitate towards. They don’t carry a whole lot of furniture, and what they do have is usually stuff like chairs, little tables, DVD racks, that sort of thing, but I found a great industrial-​era wooden desk chair here for $ 15 a year or so ago and it’s the most comfortable ‘computer chair’ I’ve ever had. I don’t try to buy clothes here, but if I’m looking for decorations for the house I stop here first. As with most second-​hand shops, you may have to just keep coming back until you see what you want.
Some things are priced at way more than I’m willing to pay ($ 18 for one carnival glass bowl) while others are an absolute steal ($ 2 for a light-​up Christmas star the size of my hand).

Dear goodwill, please please please fix your pricing. You cannot sell a ratty sweater for 7.99 next to a brand new looking sweater for 7.99. And honestly, you really shouldn’t sell a used sweater for 7.99 anyway. Or a t-​shirt for 3.99. I still shop here because occasionally I’ll score something good like a wool embroidered purse for 2.99 but I’m really starting to wonder who the heck sets the prices. It’s like they have no sense of value whatsoever. Anyway, it’s your basic goodwill. Smaller than the one on sixth but bigger than the one on Hawthorne.

The lines to check out always eat up half your day here. But you can find some good stuff in there for a decent price.

That said, I did score a pair of gap trouser jeans with the tags for $ 10, so I’ll give it a star for that. Most of the time, though, trips here are a complete waste of time.

I shop at many goodwills and this one was way too overpriced! Target brands were more expensive than what you could buy them for at the store. Was shocked at the prices, not worth anyone’s time! They think way too highly of their items.

i really really want to go to this goodwill and find something good, not amazing just good. i want to go to this goodwill and get a good deal, feel like i’m saving money buy buying second hand and perhaps find something useful. i want so little of this goodwill and yet it never delivers. at prices at retail cost or in some cases above retail and quality that is far from reasonable (rips and tears and missing buttons) it makes me feel like im part of some reality show and somewhere people are laughing. i remember when i was a kid and goodwill had pants for a buck and t shirts for a quarter and i got my entire school wardrobe with money to spare. what happened? i understand that the economy has changed but goodwill is supposed to be for low income families to find affordable clothing and household goods and now i feel like its some sort of joke that I’m definitely not in on. its incredibly sad and disheartening.

I was excited to go thrifting and I left with nothing.
There WAS a super cute, huge cereal bowl with inspirational and witty sayings on/​in it, but I thought it was expensive for ~$ 7. Actually, everything seemed expensive.
Sweaters with no tags and threads coming out for $ 10?!
Some Mossimo brand stuff for the same price Target would sell it for… except it kinda smells or is old as hell.
I went through the art/​mirrors and found one of the first assignments from a BEGINNER’S PAINTING CLASS I am currently taking. It was a 9×12 wannabe-​canvas acrylic painting homework assignment that they were trying to sell for $ 10! Seriously… that just made me walk out.

How do these other Unilocalers find such good buys at this location? I stopped in and found overpriced garage sale rubbish and a very sketch shoe assortment.
I must say, however, that there was a very large selection of dishes and mugs. Nearly every dish I own came from a Goodwill, and if I were seeking dishes at the present time, I would surely return to this location.

I affectionately refer to this as «The Little Goodwill». There are probably some around town that are smaller (FYI, in my book, the downtown one is known as «The Swanky Goodwill.») but I really only go to this one and the one in SE.
The other Unilocalers are right. The selection here is a little more reliably upscale on account of the neighborhood. This is the spot to find shoes, bags and books. I like this one because it kind of rides the line between what you’ll find downtown and at SE. There’s a little bit of class with a little bit of sass mixed in.
On one trip, I purchased a pair of Rock and Republic jeans ($ 30) and then walked out and intercepted a drop off where a woman was getting ready to donate a vintage Animal (from the Muppet Show) puppet. (I swooped in and purchased it from her before she got it out of her car so as not to feel like I was stealing from Goodwill.)
The best time to go is when they open (8am) on a weekday. It’s quiet and you can get right into the fitting rooms. Make sure you check out the glass case at this one. They often have fun treasures in there.

someone in one of the previous reviews said that the selection wasn’t as good as the one in the southeast. not true.
just because a place has more stuff doesn’t mean it’s good stuff. the one in the southeast is just filled with more useless crap.
this may sound bad but it’s true. the reason is that the one on broadway is in a wealthier neighborhood and thus gets higher quality clothing and generally better stuff. best t-​shirt collection of any goodwill i’ve been to. lots of great sweaters. good stuff.
plus, there is a guy who works there who goes by «the dale.» if you ever get the pleasure to meet this guy you’ll know what i’m talking about.

What I really like about the Goodwill is it is super easy to drive on up to their side door, then drag four or five huge green lawn bags filled with my entire contents of old closet up to the door – and leave – and voila! – guilt free closet cleaning, doing something good with all those nice clothes they will probably sell for too much money, and now it’s time to go shopping again! Shameful, I know.
And yes, I have shopped as well as donated – not too shabby, a few finds, good basic housewares n stuff.

This was my goodwill of choice for quite a while since I lived in lloyd district. It is not as big as my favorite one ever, but it actually has a really great clothes section. There are a few books and sporting goods.
Same as the other goodwills: the prices are too jacked up! But I can’t stay away!

Not as big or as thorough a selection as the Goodwill in inner Southeast, but a pretty fine show, with a decent selection of clothing, linens, household items, toys and even a small amount of quality furniture items. The books section is not as large or well-​organized as at other Goodwills, but I’ve made some pretty decent finds here.
Oh, for some reason the credit card machine has been BROKEN on three separate shopping occasions when I’ve been at this location. So if there’s something you rilly, rilly need, carry cash!
