Green Drop Garage

I had previously gone to Kevin and loved his service but then saw the garage was closed. Then Green Drop started moving in so I checked it out. Had my oil changed at the Madison location and they were wonderful — very professional, gave quotes, appointment reminders, and great service. Then the Green Drop by my house (Moreland) opened and I took the car in for some major work. The were again incredibly nice, did fabulous work, and threw in a beer from Gigantic. They were very honest about what needed to be done and what did not, which is greatly appreciated. That seals the deal — they will be my mechanics from now on. Love the service, the atmosphere, and a wonderfully running car!

Just needed a quick headlight. Open Saturday! Had the right one in stock. They were busy but got me in and out quickly.

These guys are the best around! They are fair and honest and don’t try to get you to do work that is not necessary. In fact the other day I was struggling changing a simple bulb in my car I called them, drove over and they fixed it for free, on the spot. This is the customer service about. They have earned customer for life

Both Green Drop locations are spot on. The friendliest place to get an oil change or any other kind of work you need done to your vehicle! They are a no-​bs place that won’t try and sell you unnecessary things for your car like Jiffy Lube does and even when they suggest that your car may need something it’s merely a suggestion and there is never any pressure to spend money you weren’t expecting to. They also have bikes and smart cars you can use while your car is being worked on! And to top it off (pardon the pun) it’s all GREEN! An amazing local business with fabulous customer service. So happy they’ve done so well that they could open a second location. Keep it up!

A few months ago I brought my truck in for a full service oil change. When I went to pick up my truck after the service, I was told that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced because there was only a millimeter of pad left. I was skeptical due to not hearing the squeal that is commonly associated with low breaks. They also wanted $ 500 for the service, so I put it off.
A few months later (after having done a good deal of city driving) I was getting my tires replaced at Les Schwab. Out of curiosity’s sake, I had them do a break check. No issues with the rotors, and 6 mm on the pads. So I guess the bright side is that I have magically growing brake pads? Les Schwab also said they would have charged less than $ 400 for what Green Drop quoted me as $ 500. But because Les Schwab told me the truth, they charged me nothing but a smile, which I gladly paid.
Do not trust Green Drop.

I’ve been bringing both our cars to Green Drop for oil changes for a few years now, and I couldn’t be more happy with the experience. They’re across the street from Lucky Lab, so I just drop the car off, grab a bite to eat and pick up the car after lunch. Easy-​peezy!
Recently my Mazda needed a new transmission gasket as well as an oil change. Green Drop’s new Moreland location was running a special on mechanical work, so I went there. Not only was the bill less than the original estimate, they even gave me a ride to work and back!

I had such a nice experience with green drop, I don’t live in the area, but my car broke down a few miles away and somebody recommended I get towed to them. They were so kind and patient and even waited around with me after hours until my folks could pick me up! I didn’t end up having my car repaired there (it was more than I was willing to spend on my old car) but their prices were fair and their sweetness and customer service was top notch! I will definitely take future vehicles back :)

Really great shop! I’ve stopped in here for two separate vehicle issues and was met with excellent service both time. Very friendly staff and service. I highly recommend you check these guys out!

These guys are awesome.
I took my problematic 12 year old car in to Green Drop and they diagnosed it quickly and honestly. I ended up not getting the services done, because the necessary repairs were worth more than the car, but the folks at Green Drop were great in helping me make that decision. They did not push unnecessary repairs and they were very upfront with me about their prices compared to the prices of others (in my car’s case, they were charging a bit more to repair than some other places in the neighborhood).
At the end of the day, I paid a decent price for the diagnosis, got valuable car advice, did not get taken advantage of for my lack of car knowledge, and got to take home a 22 oz. microbrew from their fridge!
I would absolutely come back here with a repairable car in the future, and I definitely recommend that others, especially those of us who are intimidated by the auto industry, go to these guys.

HANDS DOWND BEST GARAGE FOR ANY CAR! I feel lucky to have an honest, reliable, savvy garage to care for my car. As a women, I’ve experienced terrible interactions with mechanics. This is why I’m writing this review because I’ve never felt so comfortable, at ease while waiting for my car to be tuned up or leaving it there overnight. Farhad the owner is a mechanical genius who has never let me, my wallet or my car down. Chris Evans is my go to mechanic who truly loves cars and takes pride in his work. I’m proud to say that this woman has her own «go to» garage.

I am not much of a review person, but for green drop his can I not write. Some friends and I had been there for a car basic class with Ian, and we came back completely loaded with information, tips and tricks. Whoever is curious about the machine they drive everyday, pls go to Ian; he is such a patient and knowledgeable person. I hacked been there for a car service yet, but will definitely do do.

I brought my 06 vehicle with low miles (60K) in for an inspection needed for work.
This was at no cost to me, but I imagine the company I work for compensated them.
Green Drop passed my car with absolutely no problems indicated. And… Green Drop gave me a complimentary oil change.
I thought, «How nice.»
I brought that SAME vehicle in for that oil change 10 days later. Many many problems/​issues now began.
I asked them about checking the fluids and topping them off several times before we proceeded and they said they did this automatically with the oil change.
THEY DID NOT DO THIS. I checked fluids before and in their lot when the work was done. I made them fill the coolant before I left. A visual inspection clearly showed it was nowhere near being full.
AND NOW, now they are saying I need close to $ 1000 for repairs!!!
According to Green Drop, both the front brakes and a suspension item are in need of replacement. According to Green Drop, the rubber on a suspension item is 80% GONE. This is 10 days after a previous inspection.
I am suspicious for several reasons now, so I took this car to my regular mechanic. They said that the brakes DO NOT need to be done. And the suspension item? My regular shop said, «Yes, at some time, it will need to be addressed, but not until much, much later. You can easily go another 10,000 miles or more with no problems.»
«80% GONE», my ass. I had my regular mechanic show it to me while my car was up on the lift. The thing was barely impacted.
Now I know why Green Drop was willing to give me a «Free Oil Change». So they can make up a lot of unnecessary and expensive shit to do to my car.
*Additional side note– I asked my regular mechanic how much it WOULD cost for them to do the suspension repair?
$ 250 was my shop’s answer.
$ 430 is what Green Drop quoted me.
I wish ZERO stars was possible as a rating.

My new favorite oil change spot in Portland! Schedule an appointment online, chill around the corner at a brewery or White Owl, get a call an hour later when you’re ready. Everyone was low-​key yet friendly and knowledgeable about my car and offered some practical advice for work I’ll need before the winter hits. Felt a lot more sincere than that Henry place. Go here!

We have used Green Drop Garage a couple of times now and I’m happy to say that they’ve been really good to us. The second time I needed a repair from them, they went beyond the call of duty and got my car in and out on the same day. They are consistently quick to answer the phone and keep us in the loop about the stage of work on the vehicle and how everything’s going, which I really appreciate.
Some other commenters point out that they have a tendency of recommending additional repairs down the line, and I think this is true, but I don’t fault them for it; I for one appreciate being warned about potential trouble spots in advance so I can prepare to get the problem fixed or get a second opinion.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. The first few times I went in here, I was impressed with their customer service and seeming thoroughness and knowledge. Then, I discovered that they were either not thorough in their brake inspection or in describing their brake inspection to us. We left thinking that our brakes were in good shape only to later find out that the inner brake pads were wearing down more than the outer brake pads, which led to what I believe was a dangerous situation for my family that could have been avoided. If they had simply told us that they didn’t do a thorough brake inspection, rather than telling us the brakes had been inspected, we would have gotten them checked sooner. Needless to say, I am very frustrated and angry with what i perceive to be their lack of responsibility in the situation.
Judging from the other reviews on here, it’s looking like I’m not the only one with this type of experience. I also spent a good deal of time on the phone with a positive attitude and nice communication about the situation before I got upset with their lack of responsibility and trying to tell me that it’s just a «normal situation» people encounter with brakes. I’ve never encountered this with brakes when you get good advice about when to replace them!
MY RESPONSE TO FARHAD’S COMMENTS:
In fact, I never threatened a negative review. I only posted my review after my experience so that others would be informed of the incident and can make an informed choice about whether to go to your garage.
I’m told by other mechanics that the car was DANGEROUS to drive at 2 mm AND it was already being fixed when your shop offered to look at it. In fact, when we called the Friday before to ask if it was safe to drive, your garage advised that it was safe to drive. I wasn’t about to take it away from the shop that was already helping us and give it to you when that trust was already lost.
I merely asked for minor compensation us for the distress and inconvenience that your garage caused us. Instead, I’m being treated like I’m «unreasonable.»
I’ll be interested to see the documents you have about my inspection.

I’ve been in twice for an oil change, both were very quick and cheap. However the second time I went in they provided me a list of all these urgent repairs I needed on my car that were going to cost me thousands of dollars. Expecting something was up, I took the list to my usual mechanic who literally laughed upon seeing it. Turns out nothing is terribly wrong, imagine that. I felt taken advantage of at green drop for being a woman and was very disappointed with how dishonest they were. I really wanted to like this place.
In short: Good for a quick, cheap oil change but do not trust them with anything else!

Another great experience.
I brought my car in for service and as it turned out they realized that my car needed less work than what I expected. They are VERY honest. I love that about them.
Also, because I needed to get some errands done and I thought it would take longer, I was able to borrow one of their electric Smart cars. Sweet!

Nice people, nice mission. Their prices weren’t competitive, I mean $ 80 dollars more to replace a serpentine belt not competitive and they wouldn’t match that price. They also recommended two expensive things I needed to replace with a sense of urgency, that my dealership garage couldn’t even find a problem with.
I appreciated the free oil change through the chinook book. But, I got the sense I was seen as a target because I am a woman.

GREEN DROP IS INCREDIBLE! A true Portland experience!
We took our car in for its regular oil change, also asking them to check on one tire that was losing air, and the light from our front headlight was out.
We had bought a package for the oil change, and knew that we had one left, but we were not prepared at all for what we heard when we returned!
When we asked, «What do we owe?» They responded with, «A High Five!»
And, then they handed my partner a bag of freshly grown organic potatoes and garlic from Working Theory Farm (
), which is a small farm they’re partnering with! They offered a suggestion that we make garlic mashed potatoes.
Awesome!
So, on top of the labor, the free lightbulb, and the tire they patched after pulling a nail out of it, they also gave us free, fresh veggies! Unreal. Totally unreal, so Portland, and SO VERY COOL!
