Harrison Tower Apartments

I have lived here for almost 3 years. I moved in «temporarily,» but the convenience to my office downtown has resulted in me renting out my house in Beaverton, and living here. For the most part it is a very pleasant place to reside; occasionally, college-​age tenants make the atmosphere more «lively» than necessary, but like most plagues, they soon move on.
The facilities and common areas are very well maintained. (The HTA folks are always working to clean-​up the detritus of the «lively» residents mentioned above.) Very nice meeting room (I have hosted work meetings there – it’s that nice), and the work-​out room and saunas are an added bonus.
I have had the occasional frustration with the serial urinators that seem to come out at night and mark their territory near the door to the garage, but even there, the «clean up crew» is always on the job.
So, yes, I have some frustrations, but those are part of the urban experience. The attentive reader will notice, however, that the outstanding staff at HTA negates the negatives i have mentioned, and places the experience of living here squarely in the «plus» column. If the folks at HTA were not as wonderful and attentive, I would have stuck to my «temporary» status long ago. Of the amenities, Lisa, Jillian, Nichole, Chris, Tim, et al. are the best reasons to live here.

I’ve really enjoyed living here for about 15 months. Views are great and it’s wonderful to have the streetcar right outside and be within walking distance to all of downtown and the waterfront. It’s close enough for a 7 minute walk to waterfront events in the summer and just far enough that we don’t hear the loud concerts in our unit.
I’ve come to enjoy the quiet tree-​lined walkways and small parks close by. They provide a pleasant buffer from the paved noisy city. This building is part of a large mid-​60s urban renewal project and the quiet shady shop-​free zone is way out of style with the current Portland design standards. A recent urban planning document noted that it’s not a trendy area and rents are a bit lower as a result. This is also the university district.
We hear street noise when windows are open. In the early AM noisy trash trucks prowl about looking like giant horned insects. We often hear sirens from a nearby fire station and ambulance station. The solid tight windows are somewhat effective for minimizing noise from the city so we hear more in the summer when windows are open. The south-​facing balcony provides sunshine and surprising warmth on cool sunny spring and fall days.
The management has been upgrading hallways, lobby, laundry room and other common areas. They are very friendly and responsive. Service is outstanding. A recent maintenance request was taken care of in a few hours and they helped us with issues we had not even stated in the request.
Neighbors in the building are a pleasant mix of working professionals, many college students and some retired folks. Quite a few dogs. We don’t hear daily activities from our neighbors and they don’t hear the loud gongs from our large grandfather clock.
The layout is not so easy for folks who drive a lot because the parking garage is in the basement of a building across a walkway. Go out a side door, across the walkway and down the elevator to get to your car. The streetcar provides door to door service for Safeway and much of downtown. This is a walker’s paradise.

In December, 2014, the building went into new ownership along with new management. Since then we have enjoyed a positive relationship with the management team. They are friendly, available and responsive to questions and needs. Thanks Lisa, Jillian and Nichole. There have been numerous aesthetic improvements to the general areas, making it a resident-​friendly experience. Maintenance issues are promptly and effectively dealt with. Public areas are well lit and clean.

I’ve been living here since July of ’15 and absolutely love it.
Joshua was always professional but, ever since Nichole came aboard staff, there’s an added warmth that’s been added to the HTA community. That warmth is even conveyed in online-​outgoing community messages and creates an environment where members enjoy a full investment. Kudos to Lisa, Jillian, Nichole, Chris, Tim, et al. WE look forward to making HTA out home for a long time!

We are a family of 4 who has lived at the Harrison for two years. Location is awesome the building has a wonderful mid century look and feel. It is Downtown and close to PSU which is convenient. The management seems to care and are always helpful. Because of the age of the building the apartments are nice size. We are a happy family living at the Harrison Tower.

I’ve been living here for about a month now and everything seems pretty great. Sobfar I’ve had issues with the sink faucet and clogs, water heater tank and toilet but all we’re resolved very quickly with a simple work order and if resolution could not be achieved, they will gladly replace it for you unless it’s stuff like carpets. They have good amenities such as the hot tub, sauna and such which is great to use during the winter. The lounge is nice, clean and cozy and great for get togethers. Lisa and Jillian at the office are really friendly and always ready to help when they can. The only issue I have is that sound travels through the walls all too well. I can hear people drilling and hammering from 5 floors down. It is a smoke free building and super convenient to get around. The streetcar is right out front that goes both directions, the max is about 2 blocks away and bus stops surrounding. Overall I’m guitar happy with my stay so far.

I’ve been living here for about 4 ½ years since I have moved to Portland, the building is in a good location and the pool is always a nice amenity for summer time. For me this location is so convenient, it is close to downtown within walking distance and so close to waterfront where I normally go for a run and it is not too far from Duniway Track where I go for a quick run sometimes. The current management team is really good, they are making a lot of improvement in the building, adding better security team who’s actually walking around inside the building as well. And the team is quick to response and the property assistant is helpful and very nice, especially Lisa, she’s my favorite!
I live on higher floor, so the view is great and every unit has big balcony, very cool to hang out in the summer!
A few minor things that I wish I could change, the washer & dryer is not in the unit, you have to share, the laundry room is in the basement, it isn’t bad but will be better if it’s in the unit.
My neighbor slammed the door sometimes, that could be bothering when it’s late at night. But other than that, combination of overall amenities and the location, it is a good deal for renting.
