Hertz Local Edition

This is not a Hertz rental site! It’s just a courtesy phone on a nightstand. There’s something fishy about this, as
will allow you to book a car here with no warning about this (two separate clerks at their 4^th and Pine location claim its because «pop-​up blockers» hid that message, but I wasn’t able to get a warning from several attempts on different browsers). The phone was pretty well hidden in the station, and we haven’t been able to get an answer at the number listed for it. It seems like a clever way for the distant Pine St. office to look like the closest rental car option at Union Station. Since the car we booked was actually waiting at Pine St, I’d consider this an extension of their office– and in that case they were rude, didn’t keep staff around to pick us up at the station, and then promised a credit for cab fare when we rented, only to rescind the offer when we dropped the car off.
All around not a good experience, save for the car being clean and available, but I’d expect that from any rental company. Pretty awful, honestly — and this isn’t even considering that it was rented on a gold club account. If this is the exclusive service level, I feel pretty bad for regular folks who have to deal with them. I wouldn’t recommend Hertz here or at 4^th and Pine after this experience.
