BEWARE!
Working with JR on my health insurance caused me to have a gap in coverage and thousands of dollars out of my pocket for known pre existing medical needs not covered during the gap.
While JR was initially responsive and helpful, he failed to submit my health insurance application before the deadline which caused a gap in coverage. This was dispite assurances from JR to my follow up communications that everything was ok, which in hind sight would suggest he was too disorganized to be aware of his error and proved only lip service to my questions.
After becoming aware of the error due to my LOSS OF COVERAGE, JR told me he did finally submit my application but would never provide any evidence and stopped communicating all together; thus LEAVING ME WITH NO HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

A friend recommended me to JR to help with health insurance. What a great recommendation. JR saved me $ 400/​month in healthcare costs. Not only that, he handled the entire process which was a lifesaver because the
site is really bad. I can’t recommend JR enough. He’s a great guy, easy to work with and got back to me very quickly.

JR has done it again! I switched from one employer to another earlier this year. I missed the deadline for applying for my company sponsored health insurance.

He was patient throughout the whole process of helping us get registered, sending documents online, and selecting a plan that fit our family. Without his patient and help, it surely would have taken us much longer for getting insured.

We had the exact same experience as another reviewer here. We worked with JR for more than a year for my business insurance, personal insurance, and personal life insurance needs. He came highly recommended and was always very prompt with his responsiveness.
All that came to an abrupt halt at the start of this year, when we contacted him for updated plans and assistance. After an initial follow-​up to us scheduling a meeting in early January, he completely fell off the map. We tried numerous times, from our company phone number, my personal mobile number, and one additional number just in case there was some issue with calls being blocked. His voicemail greetings changed almost daily so I knew he was actively monitoring his mailbox, but he never once called or emailed me back.
In the meantime, employee and dependent insurance plans expired. We have since set things back up through another provider. While I am not the type of person to air negative reviews about businesses, I tried more than ten separate times and ways to communicate with JR and settle the matter privately. However, he never once replied to any of our attempts.
As a person, I like JR. As a business vendor, I was extremely let down. I offer extreme caution about using his services.

UPDATE: I chose to report my experience with JR to the insurance division of the Oregon Dept. of Business and Consumer Services. After they reached out to try to resolve the issue, I received a copy of the correspondence between him and the department. In it, he stated that he «felt he had taken on too much business», «knew he missed some calls», but «did the best he could».
While I understand that open enrollment is a very busy time and that things may have slipped through the cracks, an apology and acknowledgement of our struggles would have gone a long way toward mending this business relationship. We received neither.

My experience with JR started out great. He came highly recommended by someone I dearly trust, so I was happy to call him when I had questions about setting up a tax-​advantaged health plan for my business. He answered all my questions thoughtfully and without pressuring me into anything, so when I needed to buy health insurance for my husband through the Marketplace, I chose to use him as our broker. That went through without a hitch.
We decided we wanted to change my husband’s healthcare plan before open enrollment ended. JR was easy to get a hold of and walked us through the change over the phone. The
site kept glitching out and sending me in a loop, but we seemed to complete the process and confirmed by logging out and logging back in. JR followed up a week later asking for my husband’s SSN so his assistant could confirm he was enrolled correctly.
That was the last I heard from him. When March 1 rolled around and my husband’s healthcare plan change hadn’t propagated, I called his health insurance company. They told me the change had never come through from

At this point, I called JR. He had told me that he would be my advocate if any problems occurred, so this seemed like his time to shine. In the two weeks since, I’ve since sent multiple emails, called several times, left a couple voicemails and texted. I’ve used a different phone just in case there was some issue there. I have yet to hear back from him. His voicemail message was updated two days ago, so I’m pretty sure he’s not having any sort of emergency.
I don’t know what happened, but I’m extremely frustrated that my «advocate» is now unreliable and unreachable. You may find he’s very helpful at signing you up for a plan, but be aware that he may disappear when you actually need help.
I’ve since contacted Cecily at Greenberg and Associates to resolve these issues and can’t recommend her highly enough.

JR has helped me twice in the last year to enroll in and renew my individual health insurance plan. The first time, I must have called him a day or two before the enrollment deadline. I can imagine all insurance agents were very busy during this time, but JR promptly returned my call within an hour or two. I chatted with him about my specific needs. He explained the differences in each plan (coverage, price, etc.) in a way I could understand. Initially, it took about a half hour for me to enroll in a plan. He completed the application for me over the phone, then told me what the next steps would be and what to expect. Don’t worry, the only steps left are to receive your health insurance cards in the mail and put them to use. I believe he works into the evenings sometimes and perhaps some weekends. Above all, I’m very pleased he enrolled me in a plan that allowed me to see the provider I wanted, which was super important. Today, I called him to renew my coverage and the process went just as smoothly. If you want to enroll in a plan through Cover Oregon, he’s is the person to go to. I’ve recommended JR to several friends also looking for coverage. He will definitely go above and beyond. From my experiences, I think you’ll be very pleased with his help.
