House of Antique Hardware

We’ve ordered several things from HOAH for our 1920s home. The quality on everything has been very good, and excellent value for the money. We also had a good experience with the customer service: they gave us a full refund and allowed us to exchange switch plates after the deadline.

Unbelievably bad customer service. My contractor placed a very large order as part of an entire house remodel. I had a problem with one door knob that kept falling off and needed a replacement spindle that was striped. First, it was like they didn’t believe me that their product could be bad. Then House of Antique Hardware worked really hard to deny the warranty — and did deny it –because I didn’t have the purchase order number. I had the paperwork from my contractor showing the order, but not the paperwork that would have been between them and my contractor. I had name, address, model number, and everything else. I got a total runaround for a $ 2.99 part. Before you get totally enamored by their beautiful hardware, consider if you want to deal with their customer service attitude over a minor or major problem.

I’m revising my previous posting because the customer service supervisor reached out to me and made it right. I really appreciate it. I’m giving 4 stars for the improved customer service and a 5 stars for the products that we received.

Customer service is very rude, unhelpful and does not follow through what she said she would do. I placed an order on 3÷20÷15 and it was the wrong item and I called the customer rep right away to cancel it. She said she would cancel the wrong order and to place another order for the correct item. The correct item was shipped on on 3÷20÷15. On 3÷24÷15, I received a notification that the notification that the wrong order was shipped. I called the customer service rep and she said it was too late and that the item had already shipped. Not only did she not follow through and cancel the wrong order. She had 4 days and did nothing. She was rude and told me that I had to pay to return it. I will definitely notify my credit to decline the charge as well as write a complain with BBB. Definitely don’t want to order from this vendor again.

I recently ordered antique hinges from them. I received an email a day later that the items are out of stock for 4 months. I spoke with customer services and they were very inflexible. They refused to find me an alternative at any sort of discount. Basically, company’s attitude is take it or leave it even though they failed to update their inventory on their web site what is in stock. I should have taken up on other reviewers’ warnings that customer service is horrible if there is any issues with your order. Luckily, I was able to find the replacement hinge at Signature Hardware for less than half of the price.

I placed an order by phone. When I called 11 days later to see why the order had not arrived I found out that they had not initiated the order yet because they had taken down my email address incorrectly. I have to reschedule the carpenter because I won’t have the hardware for another 11 days… don’t look to them for hardware if you have any time of time constraint! Service sucks so far…

I’ve called here twice in two years, and both times I was so poorly treated that I decided not to purchase a single thing. I’m not an unreasonable guy, asking unreasonable questions. I wanted only to make an informed purchase, but the man on the phone (I think the same guy twice) was so condescending I couldn’t stomach finishing the phone call.

What wonderful products House of Antique Hardware has! Quality is good. Returns can be difficult if not returned within the 20 days allotted, so make certain you are aware of this! The Eastlake cabinet door pulls look wonderful on our new wall unit!

I scoured the internet for a place that was reputable, high quality yet gave me the best deal for my money. I’m glad I came across House of Antique Hardware. They are friendly, professional, have reasonable shipping costs and provide top quality products. It gets better, they are also VERY responsive and receptive to unusual requests and situations. The fact that they are a small business makes all the difference in the world and I will NEVER shop anywhere for my cabinet hardware EVER again.
