We are a 273-​unit LEED Platinum apartment building in Portland, OR. Managed by Gerding Edlen, we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service, amazing amenities, and beautiful eco-​friendly apartments in the bustling West End District of downtown Portland. So I just moved in and I absolutely love it already. The staff are really friendly and the same day I called for maintenance is the same day everything got fixed! Love this place:)

the staff here are hit and miss, either very good or very bad, no in between. there are so many dogs here that the elevator floors invariably have urine on them and often reek of dogs, and the many dog fights and crisscrossed leashes impeding walking traffic in the foyer and elevators gets old fast. rent hikes are substantial, be prepared for that. but worse is the water situation. i don’t think there’s been a month gone by when the water hasn’t been turned off in some fashion. right now it’s been turned off everyday for a month and won’t be finished for several weeks; coming home from a gym workout to no water time and again is unacceptable. further, the lighting in the bathroom mirror continually goes out, it simply will not stay on, so most of the time i have only half lighting. there are a few positives here, it’s conveniently located to many things, and i do like that masu sushi and jake’s delivers to indigo residents. but to suggest this is a five-​star hotel is utterly absurd.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the rent hike. Went from 1700 for a 1 bd on the 17th floor 663 Sq ft to 2100, plus 400 a month for 2 parking spots. My next year similar places were renting for 2400. I couldn’t afford it, left and bought a house in the suburbs. Sucks what happens here and across the portland market. Greed, pure and simple.

I’ve lived at the Indigo in a one bedroom and now in a Penthouse. The very best in Portland without a doubt. Management is responsive to my needs and always timely with any ordinary maintenance issues. They make me smile. Manager and her staff are so kind and helpful. The concierge just the best people ever!
I’ve thought about purchasing a condo but with some of the problems that exist with HOA’s and special assessments plus dealing the the volunteer members of the HOA committee, I think I’d rather pay rent at the Indigo.
People complain about the cost of monthly leases here but as the saying goes «you get what you pay for».
I’m not going anywhere, I staying right here at The Indigo!

We have lived in the Indigo since August 2014. And now that we have had a chance to get a real feel for the building and the staff, I can say it is by far the best place we have lived. The management staff is incredible. The Concierge team are simply daymakers. They go out of their way to make every resident of the Indigo happy. Being greeted with a smile at the end of a long day, having cookies at the front desk available or having the elevator called down for you when your hands are full with groceries, are just some examples of the magic they create daily. The building is beautiful and the amenities and view are spectacular. The very few maintenance requests I have had to put in were addressed the same day.
The rent is higher than the Portland average for the area. But as a few have pointed out, you get what you pay for and living at the Indigo is well worth it. They create a premium living experience for all of their residents. We look forward to making the Indigo our home for years to come.

By far the best place I’ve ever lived in.
Every thing is so great in this building.
The staff is AMAZING. Concierges are awesome and everybody is always helpful !
The gym is great, always clean and pretty empty.
We even have a theater room… and a huge roof top with fire places.
Apartments are brand new, super well isolated from the cold and the noise. It’s so quiet !
The big plus if you have a pet is that it’s crowded with dogs !
It’s the only place where I actually made my neighbors my friends.
The only downside, it’s the price. It’s way above the average Portland rent.
Plus, it raises every year forcing people to leave their apartment and their neighbor.
I think they should invest in the people and the community that is builded in the Indigo rather than finding new people for a hundred more bucks a month.
For the rest, everything is literally perfect.
I’ve read other reviews that complains about the water shut-​off. Yes it’s true indigo had issues with water but they gave residents huge refunds on rent. Most buildings are landlords wouldn’t have bothered. I think they managed the water shut-​off the best they could.

I lived here for a year and a half. I had the largest one bedroom floorplan on the 7th floor (one of the lowest). I really enjoyed living here. Great location. The gym and the cinema are fantastic amenities.
I wouldn’t live anywhere else in Portland.
The only downside that I could see was that the parking was public and residents didn’t have any dedicated parking spot.

The Indigo has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Our unit layout is very functional and all of the finishes are high quality. The gym is huge, has great equipment and is almost never crowded. The rooftop lounge is very cool. I am looking forward to the weather warming up a bit in order to relax outside on the roof. If you are concerned with getting direct sunlight, get a place on the south side of the building.

Perfect, perfect, perfect. We stayed here for a long weekend instead of a hotel and it was great! Walking distance to everything in the Pearl District and much more. It was our first stay in Portland and we will back.
The studio we were in was great with a view of downtown. We felt very comfortable being there since we are not leasing. Also a very safe building and the staff were great.
Highly recommend staying here to anyone who is staying in this part of Portland! Can’t wait to go back.

What a building!!! The studio room we had was incredible! It was overlooking the pearl district, and what a view of the city from the roof. i work in a gold LEED building here in Vegas, but the Indigo is a platinum LEED building, holy crap it was cool. Now I am not a vegan, or yippie or tree hugger or anything that trendy but I do love well done architecture and it’s LEED functionablity.

We’ve been living in the Indigo since May. One of the best places to live in Portland honestly.
The rent is pricey in terms of the Portland market, but very reasonable in the larger scale of modern downtown apartments. People constantly bitch and moan about Portland’s downtown but honest to god you will never find rent this cheap any other legitimate west coast city.
The apartment is gorgeous floor-​to-​ceiling windows, quiet, safe, and elegant. I feel a deep sense of pride inviting others to the place I live. The rooftop lounge is the ultimate summer hang out and the movie theatre is a great place to host a party. The gym has never been packed and the concierge team is amazing.
This is a cool apartment because it’s near Whole Foods, Fred Meyers, loads of restaurants and bars, and concert venues.
One of my favourite features is that local restaurants Masu and Jake’s will deliver food directly to your apartment. Nothing beats a hot bowl of ramen hand-​delivered on a rainy day.
I love the air conditioning in the summer. The kitchen is large, and all the appliances are modern.
Everyone in the building has so far been friendly. Also the building is pet-​friendly and does not discriminate by breed.
You can get a load of services to your room other than just food too, like a masseuse, a personal trainer, an interior designer, an organizational assistant, a pet trainer, cleaning services, and pet-​sitting.
One of my favourite things so far is a recently developed concierge-​team website where you can make all your requests for services online and also track your packages.
Oh, and they offer free coffee in the morning to residents. Just bring your mug downstairs, and ta-​da! A hot cup of coffee, with love from Indigo. You can even plop down in the lobby and read the New York Times before you head off to work.
What can I say? I’m a downtown kind of girl.

Lived here 1 year in a large 1 bedroom. Amazing amenities, stunning views (4 volcano view). Gas range and oven are huge, one of only a few buildings in PDX that has them. Perfect location. Awesome concierge team, always eager to help. Good gym, machines + weights.
Little issues: Lighting in our north-​facing apartment was tricky in the winter, especially in the kitchen. Inner apartment walls are thinish and don’t block sound well, complicates separating living room /​bedroom space when there are 2 of you (Other walls are much better, never heard any of my neighbors). Balconies are small and downtown ambient noise is loud especially on the north side above Whole Foods (AC system fans). Elevators are slow (my pet peeve :)). Don’t have online bill paying system, gotta write a check each month.
Overall this is possibly the nicest place in Portland to live, and the price reflects this, especially for the 2 bedrooms. Left to move into a larger 2 bedroom apartment and wanted to try living on the east side of the river.

We stayed there in lieu of a hotel for a long weekend (they rent out some units that are not leased) and it was outstanding. Impossible value and ammenities. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, corner unit had a kitchen, and living room, and washer/dryer.and deck… plus dog and bike friendly… all for less that staying in a TEENY room at even the Westin. There was ZERO «oh you are hoteler» attitude from staff or the folks who lived there. We could walk to so many cool spots we never had to touch the car (which by the way, parked for free downstairs). I just can’t say enough about this place and I never would have found it without Unilocal

I’ve been waiting to write a review of my apartment building so that I could get a real feel for the place. I agree with some of the other reviews that yes, the place feels luxurious, it feels like a 5 star hotel and the amenities are really nice. The common areas can be booked up but hey, I’m sharing them with how many other people? It only makes sense that the private movie theatre isn’t available every time I want it. Some people have mentioned that the roof top is always busy as well. When it’s nice out and I want to grill, what makes me think that no one else will have the same idea? It is simply unrealistic to expect that a common area will be void of people whenever I want it to be. If I wanted to be completely alone then I would have moved into a house instead of a popular apartment building.
As for the staff, sure there are some people who work there that I don’t want to even say good morning to, some people have an attitude but that’s just like any business. Overall I’ve have a good experience. I love the layout of my apartment, it’s the perfect size for myself and my husband. I’ve never had an issue with smelling smoke, in the hallway do I smell someone making burgers? Sure, but I guarantee you when I make home made chinese food they smell it in the hallway too. The noise levels are really low, the street noise is almost completely gone when I have my windows closed. I have a beautiful view even from a lower floor. I appreciate the security, the amenities, the great location. I like the fact that my utility bills are so freaking low! Room service is a great option too. Plus they offer things like carpet cleaning for $ 30. Really not a bad deal if you ask me.
Overall, I am really happy I signed the longest lease they had available. It’s been the perfect place for my husband and I to move, especially when moving from the east coast.

Love my place here. I signed an 18 month lease early last summer. Can’t wait for another summer here. It has all the amenities of a mansion (Theater, rooftop patio, gym, concierge, meeting rooms, etc.) with a smaller, simpler living space. It fit’s well with my lifestyle as I move towards a happier, more sustainable lifestyle! LOVE IT!

This apartment is amazing. It is not the fact that there is a breath taking view, it is LEED Platinum certified, but the people that work here rock. I cannot believe the stuff they have done for us. They go above and beyond and make me really love it here.
