I am fairly new to Portland and finding a mechanic you can trust is always tricky. Aside from the dealership I don’t even have a mechanic I can trust back home in Colorado. I was referred to the mechanic named Wilson by a guy at an Auto Zone store. Without making this a long review lets just say I have been here twice in the past couple of months to get some work done on my Honda Accord. Both times I have been here we have talked about the work being done, any necessary work, & even unnecessary work suggested by the dealership. Wilson has always been honest & upfront with me, never making me feel like work needed to be done just to get a check. He shows me what he has replaced & where problem areas are. The service is always done in a timely fashion & at a great price. Let’s just say they now have a lifetime customer! I would give him 10 stars if I could. Having an honest & reliable mechanic is hard to come by!

i had a long on going problem with my door driver hinge. my door was rubbing. got a quote from a body shop. then it got to a point were I could hardly open the door. It was a Friday and it being a limousine company (SLPDX) I needed it fix right away. i went to the body shop and they said they were busy. But said there is a shop 2 blocks up. I had no choice but reluctantly went to the body shop they suggested. I drove to IQ Collision Center on MLK Blvd in Portland. As i drove up there were cars there that looked like work was done, the body shop was looked clean an organized. i didnt see any workers. A gentleman came out and welcomed me with a smiling face. I told him my problem, and I told him I needed it done right away. he said that there body man wasn’t there today because he was sick. if i could wait till monday? I told him that I needed it done because I had a job that night. With out hesitation he immediately got on the phone, 4mins goes by and said if you go get the part I can fix it. At this point I was desperate and I know he was short handed (we’ve all been there right.) and the part was only 3 blocks away, so I said okay no problem. I went to the auto parts place and the parts guy had the part ready to go. I came back pulled up with the part, he came out to me to guide in the shop and he immediately started fixing it. and I mean immediately! He already had tools ready to go. Since he was short handed and I’m a pretty handy guy myself I said if you need any help I would be more than willing to help him hold something or do whatever he wanted. He said thank you but its ok he said go ahead sit back and relax in the waiting area. I’m sure for insurance purposes he had to say that, but it was okay with me. By the way it was very comfortable in the waiting area, with comfortable chairs to sit in and a nice sofa that i almost fell asleep in. While I was waiting I looked them up on Unilocal.they had 2 impressive reviews so I felt even better about the company. Thank you Unilocal for the peace of mind. These guys are a small business (like myself) and I can see they try hard to want and keep your business (As myself) from what I see they don’t have a Web site. but I can tell you they don’t need one. taking care of their customers like royalty, and positive Unilocal reviews these guys are going to be around for a long time. Oh. And I noticed they pay your deductible! well its done now, in 1 ½ hrs. and come to find out Manuel, one of the owners !!! is the guy I was talking to all this time. wow… and he charged me less than the other body shop.

After my usual car repair shop turned my business down because they didn’t want to deal with my insurance company, I passed by IQ’s parking lot while driving down MLK and turned in to get an estimate.
Not only were they willing to negotiate with the insurance company, they covered my deductible as well. the job was done well and on time, and they even buffed up an old scratch on another part of the car and cleaned the interior!
i guess i have a new usual car repair place now.

I recently got some Yellow road paint on my 2010 Suburban and by chance stopped at the shop in my neighborhood who I had no previous experience with. Showed them the damage and asked for a quote. Immediately they called another tech over to look at it and said they could take it off while I waited. I was there for less than 15 minutes, the areas where the paint was looks brand new and shines nicely. They didn’t even charge me for their time. That was fantastic !!!
On the other hand was a quote from the Chevy dealer for the same paint removal repair and wentworth quoted $ 500 and a day to do the job.
Forget the dealerships, these guys are better customer service and better workers. They have all my future business
