We have been in business since 1967 and have been managing residential properties in Oregon for over 40 years! We perform this service for nearly 800 single family, commercial, multi-​unit and small apartment communities all around Oregon. We are open 7 days a week with a full time staff, bookkeeping department and experienced property managers for your convenience.

I opened our property management department in the late 80’s with only one other real estate agent and a few houses. We have now grown to have a property management staff of 15 and we manage about 800 residential and commercial properties all over the state. On the sales end of things, I managed over 800 VA houses and sold well over 1000 homes throughout the state of Oregon during the run of VA repos. At last count, we have sold houses in over 70 different cities in Oregon. Jim McNeeley Real Estate & Property Management Inc. is a member of 3 multiple listing services which include; Portland RMLS, Oregon Coast MLS and Willamette Valley MLS. I feel very fortunate to have been able to maintain a successful business throughout the years and look forward to many more to come. When not selling or managing real estate, I enjoy golfing at the Astoria Country Club, and fishing and clam digging on the Oregon Coast where my family has a vacation home on Cullaby Lake.

Our experience with McNeeley Real Estate was terrible. We rented a townhouse through them for 2 years. Our point of contact, Mark H. was neither helpful or professional. Whenever something went wrong with our house he assumed it was our fault and it took weeks to get us the help we were entitled to. When it came time to cancel our lease and move out he insisted on coming into our house when we weren’t there… which was weird to say the least. He was never on time and NEVER answered his phone. When we moved out I had to call Jim himself in order to get ahold of Mark for the paperwork. My advice? Avoid Mark at all costs.

Wow, certainly a lot of people who either love them or hate them. I’m guessing it depends on which manager you are using. Jim McNeeley has been managing a property for us for almost 10 years and they have done a good job. None of the problems others have complained about. They are responsive, at least to me. They seem to respond to the tenants and bring any significant issues to our attention for approval and the turn over is low. They are quick to turn over the unit when it is vacant. They are good at picking the right tenants and determining the right rent to charge. The fees are reasonable for the service provided.
My only complaint would be they are not as proactive as I would like on the building maintenance. I still feel I need to go by the unit from time to time to make sure everything on the exterior is in working order.

Our experience with Jim McNeeley Real Estate Management company is very positive. We have a property being managed by this company for over a year, and we can say nothing but good things about this company. They feel like a family, quickly responding to our questions and providing suggestions when we need it.
Last year we had to vacate our property and needed to find good quality and affordable move-​out housecleaning, carpet cleaning, etc. so the property could be ready for our renter. Jim McNeely’s company helped us with referrals and thanks to them we saved $$$ on those services.
We are happy with the Jim McNeeley’s property management company’s work. Looking forward to have another year with them.

Although their realty sales division acts professionally, this company has a terrible property management service, I contracted with Jim McNeeley’s property management to manage the rental of my property. The staff rented to a family member of the owner who worked with them and did not do any proper tenant screening or enforce lease signing. Almost immediately, rent payments were considerably late every month, and no action was taken each time. For several consecutive months, I would have to contact them to inform that rent was missing before anything happened. Months later when I reviewed this inaction with their staff, their staff informed me that they «wouldn’t feel right issuing a late rental notice» to their co-​worker since «they work with him.» As the matter continued, their staffer continued not paying rent for months, skipped out without properly vacating the property. Furthermore, their staffer who was my tenant damaged my property considerably for the short period he was a renter, left lots of drug paraphernalia furniture, household junk that had to be hauled out and till today has not taken responsibility. Several independent real estate agents confronted the owner Jim McNeeley himself about this particular case, who acting in true «Donald Trump fashion» neither apologized nor took any responsibility for his firm’s performance. This is property management gone wrong all the way. Having used other property management firms in the area, by comparison, I would give Jim McNeeley Property Management 0 stars if I could. Run if you can!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Jim McKneely is a terrible property management company. You can almost never speak directly your property manager you need, They never call you back. Also, As far as having problems with constantly, excessively loud disrespectful neighbors, You have to call and bug them I don’t know how many times. When you do finally get someone to actually lift a finger. Their response,“We’ll send a letter” As far as the deposit goes, I paid 1 and a half times the listed deposit price because of «Low rental history» I don’t if this made me a target for them or they’re just snakes who want all of your deposit money without doing anything to justify it. When we left the apartment it was spotless. You could eat of any surface of the house. They took over 75% of my deposit while listing a pack of light bulbs cost 40 $, Listing we had paid late a few months in a row and charging us for that (which is false by the way) the time or two we did pay rent late we sent the late fee along with the full amount of the rent
Concluding, if you want to deal with thieves that sit on their hands and never do anything, Then justify it and never give you a cent more than thee initial amount they sent you, Then go with Jim McNeeley Real Estate.
If you want a honest team of hard working individuals DO NOT go to Jim McNeeley Real Estate.

For the last year Jim McNeeley Team has been managing our property. I would not recommend them, I have not used a property management team before but they were extremely hard to get a hold of. After many calls and emails we would finally get something in return but it was like pulling teeth. They were not proactive with the property especially with the tenants moving out. Every step of the way was painful and annoying.

I’ve had a really great experience with the entire Jim McNeely Team. I was here for a week in May for work and to find a place to lease. Every place I looked into had multiple applicants and I was starting to doubt that I would be able to find something in time. I found a nice place in Beaverton, and met with one of their property managers– Mark McNeely. Unfortunately, that place ended up being leased by an applicant that beat me to it. However, after discussing my situation with Mark, he mentioned there was a property that had not been listed yet that was coming up for lease. Despite his tight schedule, he offered to take me by there to look at the property, which he hadn’t even seen yet, and I put in my application. Even though the carpets had been recently cleaned, there was still some pet odors so Mark had the carpets treated again, which made a big difference at the time of move in.
In the office, Rachelle was great with all communications, processing my application very quickly and getting us approved. Then, after only a month, our garage door malfunctioned. I sent in a request for repair that morning, expecting it would be a couple days to get it repaired, but to our surprise, THEY REPAIRED IT ON THE SAME DAY! and their garage door contractor– J & J Overhead Door, did a great job too.
I highly recommend using Jim McNeely, you’ll be glad you did!

I’ve gone back and forth for a while now on the right words to say about my experience with this property management company. After much consideration, this is going to be the best way I can put it.
When we initially started looking at the house this company was offering to rent, they were very friendly and efficient. Within two days, we were approved for the house, mailed in a large holding deposit and all was good. Then, not even a week later, our moving out of state plans changed quite abruptly.
The house wasn’t even ready to be moved into yet when we informed them we couldn’t make the move and asked for our deposit back since the paperwork only said it «may» be held. They told us our holding deposit was entirely theirs and we wouldn’t see a dime of it back. Not even 10 days later, they had the house rented out to someone else and for more rent. Even with that, they still wouldn’t consider giving us a peroration of our deposit back.
While Oregon law gives them the right to do this, I challenge to ask if it’s considered moral or ethical, especially considering how other states have other laws that differ.
And then I was told this, «It doesn’t matter if we find someone else to rent it out three months from now at less rent or if we rent it out for more rent one day after you notified us you weren’t moving in.» Clearly, if it didn’t get rented out and funds were lost because of our not moving in, I would be more inclined to understand. But one day? One day, and it’s still thought of as being acceptable to keep $ 1050 from a hard working family because «they have to re-​list the house again and do their job».
This company had the chance to create a story. They had the opportunity to do the right thing– to keep their losses and refund us the difference at the very least, and instead they chose business and greed over human kindness and compassion. It is for this very reason that I will never recommend this property management company to anyone that is looking to rent a home in that area.

Rented a property from them for almost three years, and returned in fairly clean condition, being that when it was rented to us the carpet had stains and the blinds were bent. Despite of all of that being noted on the rental contract, when it was time to return my deposit, the professional carpet cleaner that we paid almost two hundred dollars was deemed insufficient and we were docked for carpet cleaning and for broken blinds. When I tried to dispute the charges, mark the agent sent me a bunch of pictures of tiny smudges on the wall, as if saying he was nice he didn’t discounted more! Their entire paperwork makes it so that they are legally covered to keep your deposit. My impression is that this is a trained scam to retain your deposit regardless of the condition you return your rental, so beware of making business with them!

I just recently dealt with this company and I have to say that I am totally disappointed. When I first inquired on the property the woman who answered in the office advised that two other applications had been denied because of credit issues. I told her that our credit is not great because of bankruptcy and she asked what our score was and I told her I didn’t know. She then said well we might be okay because we might be rebuilding our credit. After hearing that from her I decided to view the property and after doing so decided to put in the application. We had everything in and paid the fee and after about three hours or so we get an email from Mark stating we meet all the income criteria, but our credit score is too low. Now if that’s the case then why not require a higher security deposit? I would have been okay with that or even just being honest from the beginning that it doesn’t matter how much money you make they are still going to deny it for credit. Now we are out $ 100 dollars because they ran our application. We all know it doesn’t cost that much to check anyone’s credit and no one in that office makes over 100 dollars for even 5 hours of work. I feel duped out of my money and wish there was some way to not have this happen to others. If you decide to apply for any property with this company don’t take anything they advise into consideration. Oh plus when we viewed the property my daughter saw a nasty bug crawling on the kitchen counter. I overlooked that because I figured the place has been locked up so much those things are prone to happen. Beware before you pay.

I just began renting with Jim McNeeley. I felt it important to post a review regarding the process and the amazing service I received. I had to do everything remotely and at times out of the country. They worked with my personal assistant Coor Cohen with Bad Ass PA of Portland (HIGHLY RECOMMEND). I found Jessica and Patty extremely flexible, friendly and accommodating, even with my constraints both logistically and economically. They are professional and approachable. I am looking forward to a great relationship with McNeeley for the duration of my tenancy.

I spoke to 2 women regarding a listing I had questions on. The first one was very pleasant and helpful, the second said she was an assistant manager for one of the listings and was completely rude. She talked to me like I was an idiot and was very condescending. I wish I had recorded the phone call she was so rude. Don’t give people phone privileges if they can’t handle answering a few questions. I hope her New Year’s Resolution is to develop customer service.

I have been renting through Jim McNeeley for almost 2 years now and couldn’t be happier with the service I have received. John DeLong is our property manager, and he is very responsive and on the ball. Whenever I have a maintenance problem, he gets back to me in a few hours and has someone out to fix the issue the next day. He is very communicative and keeps me posted on my requests. I love having an auto-​payment set up every month to directly debit the rent out of my checking account. It’s easy, and I never have to worry about forgetting to send in a check. Plus there is no fee for this service. Highly recommend renting through this management company, and I look forward to working with John when we are purchasing our first house!

I have been working with the Mcneeley Team for about 8 years now. I own several rental properties throughout the US and they have always done the best job. They do an excellent job screening the tenants and renting the properties fast at fair market rents.
What I probably have respected the most is how they handle the repairs and the people they associate themselves to do the repairs. I live in Southern California and the prices they get some of the work done for amazes me. I guess its expensive where I live.
Furthermore, when I was done being a landlord they where able to sell my property at a good value and I was very pleased with transaction.
I would highly recommend!
