I specialize in all natural smoothies and I’ll also be offering food choices when the weather improves. Come down and try my orange, peach, mango, banana smoothie. I also offer a strawberry fields smoothie that is whole strawberries, apple juice, banana, a small amount of sugar, and a hint of vanilla. I’ve also got a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade that will beat McD’s any day.

History

Established in 2011.

I started in April with burgers. Frustrated by lack of space one day, I tried to imagine what would make my cart a success. I suddenly had a vision of pink flamingos and smoothies. Today I have both and business has been steadily climbing. A little bit about my name: I’m from Kokomo, Indiana and I wanted my name to reflect my background. It also helped that the Beach Boys have a song called Kokomo. I married the two ideas and came up with Kokomo Beach. I want it to be a little place that people go to in their minds when they drink my smoothies, a vacation in a cup. «Everybody knows a lil place like Kokomo»

Business Owner

I graduated with an associates degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University back in 1999. Since then I’ve worked in a multitude of different restaurants and bars. Frustrated with my lack of upward mobility and a severe dislike for BS that goes with working in restaurants, I decided to move to Portland in 2009 with hopes of opening my own food cart. Less than two years later, I finally have it. I have plans of expanding in the future with a full fledged food cart. I’m thinking about doing the simple country style food I grew up eating back in Indiana or possibly going in a completely different direction. It will depend on the size of the cart and the location. Now that I have tasted the freedom of self employment, watch out, I’m ambitious and I can’t wait to take the Portland food cart scene by storm. I want to be known for delivering delicious food with a friendly atmosphere at a great price.
