From the moment you step in our office you will realize we are unique. Our friendly compassionate staff and Doctor have over 85 years of dental experience and will treat you like a member of the family. Dr. Valentine is one of the few dentists credentialed with Adventist hospital giving him a unique focus on preventative dentistry and the connection between healthy teeth and gums and overall health. We provide cutting edge saliva diagnostic tests identifying bacteria responsible for periodontal (gum) disease and excess cavity causing bacteria and tests that determine oral cancer risk. In addition, we can complete some fillings without the need for that numb feeling caused by local anesthetics (Novocain) and provide IV sedation to complement the wide range of general dentistry we provide.

History

Established in 1978.

The current practice was founded in 1978 by Dr. Robert Swanberg. Dr. Swanberg provided a high level of dental care and was a long time member of a prestigious medical study club. In 2010, Dr. Valentine took over the practice and existing staff to continue the work started by Dr. Swanberg. Over the course of 33 years much has changed in dentistry, especially when it comes to technology. Dr. Swanberg did a good job staying current with the most effective technology and left Dr. Valentine a legacy of quality dental care with compassion and kindness. Under the direction of Dr. Valentine the practice has grown significantly with referrals from the existing patient base and from the good reputation Dr. Valentine has in the dental community. In fact, our practice added two full time employees to accommodate the growth. Our office is still accepting new patients and look forward to providing care in SE Portland for the next 33 years.

Business Owner

Dr. Valentine was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He completed his undergraduate studies at George Fox University where he was a All-​American basketball player. After finishing his graduate work at OHSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Valentine worked for a year in a community dental environment delivering dental care to the under-​served, low-​income residents of several Oregon communities. He has been active over the years donating his time in the local community to provide dental care with the Give Kids A Smile Program, Compassion Connect and Medical Teams International. Dr. Valentine also gives back to the dental community by teaching restorative dentistry at Carrington College. Dr. Valentine feels fortunate to raise his family in an area that values serving others with compassion and integrity. These values are the cornerstone of his practice philosophy where his goal is to treat each patient like a member of his family.
