Land Gallery

Adorable little boutique with creative and one of a kind gifts and apparels designed by local artists. Bought a shirt from them for $ 20 and I’ve been getting so many compliments from friends! Fabric is super soft too! I will always come here to purchase a birthday card, cause they’re so unique!

I just did a bunch of my holiday shopping at Land and their online shop (
) and I have to say: they’re tops.
Aside from having unique and exclusive products made by local and independent artists that are *only* available here, despite the diminutive space, they stock an incredible assortment of kid’s books, clothing, cards, and the kinds of little gifts that are perfect for someone you know in that very specific inside joke kind of way. The people who run this store and gallery are also just about the loveliest people in the world.
Seriously, Land rules.

In typical Portland fashion, it’s understated from the outside, and you’d probably not realize it casually walking by, but if you go up the stairs, there are world class art shows by award-​winning, internationally celebrated artists like Nikki McClure, Emily Winfield Martin and so so many more greats!

Do you ever see me walking down the street and find yourself saying «Where could Matt possibly be finding those awesome t-​shirts?» If this has happened to you, let me clear up the mystery. I probably got them at Land Gallery. Because their t-​shirt selection rules. They have a pretty nice size range, and reasonable prices. Most are between $ 15 and $ 25.
Oh, they also have gifts and books and other stuff you’d expect from this type of store. Don’t forget to go upstairs and scope out their actual gallery, as it’s generally pretty interesting. I’ve never actually bought any prints from Land Gallery, but there’s typically something that I appreciate.
But really, it’s the t-​shirts.

Land Gallery is always one of my favorite places to visit in Portland. It manages to function as an unpretentious gallery space and an extremely well-​curated retail shop (a hybrid which is difficult to find in the Bay Area, IMO.).
A ton of my favorite artists have shown here, such as Lisa Congdon, Jen Corace, Nikki McClure and Gemma Correll. You can also find tons of affordable prints, shirts, cards, and books by some of the aforementioned artists and tons of local crafters and makers. It’s kind of like a mini Powell’s for artsy-​crafty people.
They have an especially wonderful selection of graphic t-​shirts from some awesome local and international screenprinters. Go go go! Also, if you’re visiting Portland, it’s the perfect stop for a totally unique souvenir (or five).

We just happen to park I front of this place while looking for another store. My wife loves places like this so we walked int to check it out. While we were looking the sale person tells us they have a art show up stairs. I really like the art pieces they had at this place. We even found one to by so we are getting it sent to our house. Bad part is that they are in Portland.

You could buy an «I Heart Portland» magnet or a postcard touting «Put a bird on it», or you could visit this gift shop come gallery exhibiting an affordable collection of local artwork and curios.
I didn’t have time to explore the upstairs gallery space but managed to hoover through prints, crochet items, ironic badges, journals and a few screen printed t-​shirts to pick out my «that’s so Portland» collectables.
What comforted me here is that I could peruse anything store and know that I could both afford it (cards range from $ 1 to $ 5, and A4 and A3 prints range from $ 20 to $ 40) and the profits were going back to a local Portland artist. Even better was that the saleswoman was able to tell me anything I wanted to know about the pieces I was juggling between trying to fit in my suitcase home.

I feel somewhat guilty beng the only 3-​star review in the pack, but I’ll get over it. I walked by this place after my business lunch today and thought I’d stop in. The place is very cute. Lots of odd books, handmade cards, some earrings at the front (about $ 6 — 30), knit cactii, beard balm, pug-​themed canvas bags, calendars. One of my favorites were the cute little badges on the front counter — kind of like girl/​boy scout merit badges only smaller, stick-​on and funkier ($ 4).
The door was open so it was pretty cold in there — made me want to shop and get out quick. While you can absolutely find some cute, not too pricy items, some of it is just priced like any boutique where I feel I’m overpaying — but I suppose it supports others artsitry and creativity — so that’s good. The store has a bare feel to it — no carpeting/​rug if I recall and it seemed like it just wasn’t quite filled to me (admittedly, I don’t always love «minimal»).
So you can defnitely find something fun to give as a gift here — but it doesnt seem to quite know what it is trying to be. I did not go upstairs… is that super cool? I guess I should have. And since I did not know that it was a «gallery», I feel I may have missed some of thepoint. So to me it seemed like one of those sweet little boutiques — that’s unique but sort of un-​unique… know what I mean, jellybean?

Cute postcards, prints in various sizes, and cards for all sorts of occasions. The prices aren’t too bad for what they offer, plus they’re fairly unique so it’s a fun place to shop for yourself or your friends. Upstairs from here is a gallery where they showcase artists’ work on rotation.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating to any questions you have. It’s worth dropping by if you’re looking for a unique gift or addition to your home.

This is a really great store full of whimical artistic unique gifts. I am hesitant to even write a review yet because due to my stroller-​bound-​toddler handicap I was unable to go upstairs. I love that they had a little bit of everything though. I especially love looking through all the quirky books, and their knee socks were fun too. I mean who doesn’t need a pair of socks with mustaches all over them? I will be back little store, and hopefully next time will actually buy something. You are a part of what makes Portland so Portlandy to me!

I visited Land on a sunny afternoon walk and loved what I found. Great books, fun art, tees, and all kinds of other eclectic items. Bright and cheery, and friendly staff. I also found the best wallet ever.

Awesome spot. Cute gifts and knick knacks, tons of fun artsy stuff, Little Otsu stuff too. The upstairs gallery had an incredibly adorable art show going on. Highly recommend this place. I bought some art for a very reasonable $ 20. Had to force myself not to spend a lot more.

5 stars for the sock monkey gallery upstairs– a weird collection of sock monkey transformations and window where you can see the stores warehouse in the back where all things purchased are stored. Complete with good local vibes from the artwork, t-​shirts, and all things kitschy without being too kitschy.

even better than the store is their workspace in the back. you make an office chair jockey jealous.

if you need anything by the local artist nikki mcclure then this is your place. i am absolutely smitten with nikki’s work and i just love to come here and peruse the lovely thing by her and other local artists. i got a huge chunk of my xmas presents here this year including a reading is sexy mug for granny and a embroidery book for my bff. they also have a galer upstairs that is definitely worth checking out.

Fantastic place for local art, t-​shirts and cool gifts. They have a gallery upstairs (currently showing amazing paper cuts by Nikki McClure) that’s well worth visiting. When the person at the counter first told me what the show was, I thought «Oh, brother». Then I walked up and saw the amazing artwork. We bought a T-​shirt as a gift on this trip, but definitely plan on going back to do some Christmas Shopping. They are currently open Friday through Sunday.
