The customer service here is excellent, i was helped by an individual who knew her stuff with all the tools i asked about. Im a professional mover and theres never a day that goes by when a customers piece of furniture needs to be broken down to get out the door wether its table legs… Couch feet, bed frames, oversized media cabinets or even a wall mounted tv. Long story short was looking at the skeletool, the OHT, and the surge. Ultimately the all black surge fit my needs the best i like how it comes with the interchangeable small and large bits that fit conveniently in the vinyl sheath, the pliers are great, sharp knives and each piece has a safety lock and if i the side cutter blades ever dull you can replace them. The help was awesome, i use it everyday and now when im on a moving job my crew mates bother me too use it over there large and bulky tools. Too top it off she mentioned that if something ever happens too it «minus» theft too bring it back too the leatherman store and they replace it on the spot «no hassle» no questions asked…

Great products and great service at the store.
Have been in there many times, always have been helped and never felt pressured. The location is great, and having the store down the street from the factory is really cool.

Great product and service. They replaced my pocket knife which only had a bent clip. I figured they’d just repair it, but instead replaced it, no questions asked! I went there to purchase my knife originally and they were very helpful then too.

I visited the retail store after taking the Leatherman factory tour. The pricing in the store is not as low as you’ll find on sites like Amazon. However, at the end of the tour, I did get a coupon that was good at this location. If you want to get hands on with the tools and ask a lot of questions, this is a good place to visit (assuming they aren’t too crowded). If you know what you want already, you’ll find lower prices elsewhere.

As cool as their products are (and I’ve purchased here), their retail sense is awful! When considering the purchase of another very expensive flashlight, I checked Amazon, just to see that I wasn’t entirely overpaying @ the retail store. When asked if they would price match, I got a three word response, «We don’t compete.» Weak.

Went in here twice, completely ignored the first time, no customers in store. Second time waited for 15+ minutes while they helped people that obviously weren’t buying, then they made a scene as if I had been trying to steal, but continued to help other people instead of kicking me out?
Bad enough to accuse me of stealing. But to turn around and leave me to it while they help customers that came in after me? Don’t understand it.
Felt discriminated against.
Was contacted by the store later offering me a tiny complicated discount. What a jip.

Customer service at its BEST. We returned a couple of MUT’s for some repair and service work. They were in pretty rough shape, with broken bits and some missing pieces. These things were well used ! Less than a week and delivered to our home were two replacements for our dog tired Mut’s. Nice to see that a company stands behind its products and earns a customer for life. Keep up the good work and we will keep your trusty tools at our sides. It is appreciated !

A very nice store plus they also have their line of flashlights on display. This is much better than the other location. Currently, they are offering free engraving on their items. I was tempted to buy a boat load of stuff until my impulse meter went off. Avoid at all cost to avoid this place or else you will take something home.

The Leatherman Retail Outlet is like being in a multi-​tool candy store. Anything you’ve seen elsewhere is here and more. There’s also a cool line of flashlights, cases, and some closeouts. This place is small, but there’s a lot of handy person goodness stuffed into this modest square footage. Just think of all the things you could do with these well-​made tools! If not, think of the gifting options! Great Customer Service too.

This review is for the retail store. Unfortunately we weren’t there on a Wednesday for the factory tour. Pretty much any tool in their catalog is on display and available to play with. Also found a nice piece that was just discontinued, so it sold at a discount. This is the place to pick your Leatherman, or a few of them ;)

I have 3 Leatherman multi-​tools now. They work fabulously and their quality is rock solid. I love being able to buy them directly too even if it means a 3 hr drive down to Portland for me. The staff has is kind, helpful and highly knowledgeable. Much better than what I find at other retailers that just sell product without really training on their product. I’ll be back for sure!

Sorry. My mistake. This is the manufacturing plant. They do give tours but you must make reservations, no walk ins. There is a factory store about two miles west, nearer the airport. That is where we want to go.

This little Leatherman store which is attached to the Leatherman manufacturing facility is the coolest. They have the entire Leatherman lineup available to check out in person. Unless someone tells you about the store, you would probably miss it. It is in a commercial park and there isn’t really much signage to speak of. One thing I like about this store is that I can take a broken bit and exchange it for a new one for FREE! I use my Leatherman daily, and the smaller screwdriver bit needs a little more TLC than I sometimes give it. I am never asked any questions, I just get a new bit and I am on my way. In addition, this store has a good selection of last years models and other items at value prices. They often have a basket full of tools that may have had a batch of slightly off color anodizing and those are also sold at a great price. This is another great local company to support. You can peer in at the manufacturing process through a window in the store which is also pretty neat.

If little girls dream of blue boxes [1], then what do little boys dream of? For many outdoorsmen, it may be the practical yellow boxes from Leatherman that make them smile.
The Leatherman factory and retail store by the Portland Airport has been bookmarked for ages. What finally got me in the door was a great ‘buy one get one ½ off’ coupon for the holidays (W Week or Portland Mercury). They also occasionally offer discounts and coupons on their website:
The retail portion of the facility is pretty small, but impressive. Almost all of the utility tools are on display so you can test them out for fit and ease of use. Keep this in mind if you have small children accompany you. My youngest made a beeline for the large hunting knife the minute we walked in the door.
I had no idea there were so many varieties and finally found what I hope is the perfect one for Mr. K. They also sell related Leatherman items like flashlights, t-​shirts and cases for the tools. One of my favorite items is their free bumper sticker that reads, «I have a LEATHERMAN. I can help.»
Factory tours are offered on Wednesdays starting at 10:00 a.m. (usually about 1 – 1.5 hours). Unfortunately you have to be at least 12 to take the tour, so I’ll return when my boys are older. Call the store to reserve your space at 503−408−5550.
Because of the BOGO offer, I ended up purchasing his and hers tools. So I now I get to open blue and yellow boxes this Christmas. Practical and shiny — perfect combination.

As good as it gets! I own a few brands, and Leatherman tools are the best multi-​tools I have ever had… not even close. I have a Micra for day to day use, a Wave for everything else. I also have the PST II.
The customer service is awesome… after 4 years of active use, my Micra’s scissors were sticking. I brought it in and they fixed it good as new, no questions asked.
They now have a store a their facility. I have been in it a few times… it is nice to see what new stuff they are working on. I don’t NEED it, but I am eyeing the Skeletool.
They are not cheap, but these things will last you forever. I am careful with my money, but it is a no brainer for me — avoid the cheapo knockoffs that will not perform well and will quickly breakdown.

So I bought my first Leatherman Supertool in Switzerland in 1999, and used and abused it in some of the harshest environments in the world for a decade, and then broke a screwdriver blade trying to prize something open that I shouldn’t have. Hmmm. So I send it off to Leatherman on the off-​chance that they might replace the blade, assuming they wouldn’t, since it would be impossible to damage it in the way I did through normal use. To my surprise, three days later a brand new 2009 model in the mail.
Astonishing. I salute the man, and if I ever loose this one I’ll certainly buy another…
