I was in Portland for a conference. The guy I was dating at the time is really into chocolate, so I wanted to make sure to bring some back. I purchased some from Moonstruck and from here. To be honest, after stopping by Moonstruck, these chocolates didn’t seem so exciting. But, hey, they are Belgian chocolates. I figured I had to at least get a couple. The young man at the counter was so cute and helpful, I would have felt bad leaving. The chocolates were OK, but definitely preferred Moonstruck. Maybe I am just not a big Belgian fan.

These are some of the finest, most decadent chocolates ever crafted. They have all the Belgium chocolates you would expect plus some outstanding combinations such as a white chocolate with pineapple filling and my addiction: dark chocolate with lemon filling.

Leonidas has good value. The chocolates are creative and inexpensively priced. The store provides easy access to a countless array of commuters.
I went here initially to try the free truffle offer. It was good, though the next one that I paid for broke a bit too early. I came in again and the chocolate was tasty, but not too rich. My advice would be to try Missionary Chocolate instead, though Leonidas is priced at less than two dollars per truffle. There was an accent of flavor in each of the chocolates, but the chocolate could have stood out more, like at Missionary.
Leonidas is right for adding a quick smile to your day.

My wife’s family is from Belgium and I always hit a home run when I bring home «real» chocolate. Everyone should try Leonidas once. The creamy rich flavor is not to be missed. there are only a few store around the US and Portland is fortunate to have one. A must visit when I am there on business.

Established in 1913 with stores in over 60 countries. 340 of them in France alone! Leonidas has the chops and history to at least earn a little hello from you if your looking for some chocolate. Couple that with one free piece with Unilocal check in, I’m not sure what else will!
I fell in love with this shop studying in Holland. Where truth be told, I actually gained a ton of weight. Go figure!
The chocolates here send you away to a happy place where if only for a moment you cares melt away as easily as their chocolate. No waxy mouth feel so coo on in lesser chocolates and the price isn’t out of this world.
They look as beautiful as they taste and make fine gifts for someone you love. With the season approaching it makes a no brainer hostess gift that will be appreciated. Stop in and have an adventure!

I love chocolate. I love truffles, I love it all.
I ran into this place just to check it out and bought about a half pound of chocolate, 14 pieces total. I love that I could choose all my own pieces, and I really love the variety of flavors.
Cognac, pineapple, hazelnut, the list goes on and they’re all delicious. Great quality chocolate at equally great pricing!

I am not a huge fan of chocolate. So when I got a box of Leonidas chocolates for Administrative Professional’s Day, I wasn’t exactly thrilled… until I started eating the truffles. WOW… that is some quality chocolate. I would eat it again :)

I know this is cliché — I was a jerk and was attempting to make peace with a box of chocolates. So hopped on my favorite food app ( Unilocal!) and found the chocolatier — Leonidas Belgian Chocoloates. The (other) LBC is located convenient to those who work in downtown PDX. Shop is super bright and clean with chocolates and gifts displayed. The customer service was great (I was the only customer in at that time so got full attention). They sell gift boxes, but also by weight. So you can pick your own. I got about 14 pieces in a ribbon bound golden box for $ 22. Much more reasonable than a Moonstruck for example. They had a great selection of milk chocolates which my wife prefers over dark. LBC is known also for the hazel but praline filling. If you’re allergic to hazelnuts beware of cross contamination. About half of their selection has the hazelnut filling.
LBC is a great alternative to the trendy dark chocolatiers. Plus it fits my wife’s pallet more fitly (I know ‘fitly’ is not a word).
The chocolates are produced in Belgium. Think ‘glocal’ I say! (Global + local = glocal)
Can you negotiate peace with a box of hand-​picked chocolates you ask? Well that’s for you to figure out :)

Nice clean and open store with a great selection of chocolate.
We needed a last minute gift and filled a half pound box (usually around $ 20) with a variety of pralines, truffles, ganaches, and caramels. It was a big hit with our giftee.
I recommend the seashells and speculoos truffle.

I tried few of them and most were milk chocolate which were good and were about $ 1.50 a piece. impressive that they are imported from Belgium

My sweetheart is as special as they come. I wanted Valentine’s Day to be a fun day of little gifts and adventures together.
I stopped into Leonidas, because although we both love chocolate, we hardly eat it and I thought, hey let’s try something a little different. Just a couple pieces each to add to a small bag of goodies for my guy.
I filled it with Carmel Apple Ghost Pepper Caramels, perfect for the man is both sweet and hot. I added in a couple liquor filled chocolates, which made the whole box of chocolate a fun one.
The people here were very nice and helpful. The chocolates were the perfect touch to a wonderful Valentine’s day with my sweetheart.

^_​_​_​_​_​^ For Valentines’ Day or anytime you have a sweet tooth attack, this is the place. Friendly staff, plenty to choose from and you don’t feel rushed when choosing from their array of sweets.

Great chocolates. I just bought a box for valentines day.

This is a chocolatier of a different type. Being Belgian, all of the chocolates are imported. They do a great job of stocking variety, however, in all of the chocolates that aren’t individual truffles. The chocolates themselves are very traditional — Belgian style, apparently — and pretty yummy. You won’t find chile/​apricot fusion truffles or peanut butter anything. The flavors are subtle and smooth, with a lot of milk chocolate options. Interestingly, the white chocolate is actually derived from cocoa beans. I didn’t know this was even possible… too cool!
The guy behind the chocolate bar was very knowledgable and helpful. He let me sample a few of the truffles before choosing. On a super bummer note, I left my umbrella outside by the front door and it got stolen. Thanks, Portland! I thought better of you. It didn’t even have a bird on it.

My third-​favorite chocolatier in Portland after Moonstruck and Cacao: the quality and taste are top notch, but they’re not as pleasing to the eye. In appearance, they look like chocolates you’d get in a box at the supermarket, such as a Whitman’s sampler. They do have some delicious fruit jellies which are actually pricier than the chocolates because they are denser and weigh more per piece. Definitely worth stopping in.

As an avid eater of all things sweet in Portland, stumbling upon this true gem has been one of my favorite sugary finds… The warmth of the customer service I received only added to the delectable taste of Belgium in every bite. The quality of this product is superb. In true Portland fashion, I need to know what’s in what I eat. Having the confidence that there are no unecessary waxes and that I’m eating pure chocolate heaven makes both my tummy and my spirit happy. While each morsel of deliciosity satisfied, my absolute favorites are the white chocolate with pineapple butter cream and the dark chocolate with salted caramel. Must try! I love this place so much I’ve even put it in my GPS favorites! A definite must stop for the lover of chocolate, good customer service, and Portland awesomeness!

This is where I go when I want a piece of chocolate (try the salted caramel covered in dark chocolate) after lunch. They have several dark chocolate options. Yum!
I like that you pay per pound for the chocolates — one piece for about $ 1.25 verses $ 2.50 or $ 3.00 each at moonstruck.
