Very very unique bar. It has bleachers in the front window, where you can drink and chill with friends, followed by a long dining table taking up most of the space in the bar. Counter has a few spots to drink too. Staff is friendly and personable. Drinks are pricey but the unique atmosphere is really all the rewarding. Small and hopefully growing. I love it here.

This is now one of my favorite bars! I love the rotating art shows. The art and fab bartenders really get people talking. The place is so inviting! I usually might eavesdrop on others at a bar, but I am rarely an instigator of conversations with strangers. However, at Likewise, the art is such an amazing conversation piece, how can you not talk with the people around you? Also, the drinks are AWESOME. I recommend the(Yes). So so so good.

I love Likewise! I visited on a Friday night with two friends and they weren’t crowded at all. We could easily order a few drinks and find a spot on the bleachers by the window. I absolutely loved people watching! My drink was very strong — which is a good thing! I only wish the bar wasn’t as empty. I tried to go a few weeks later on a Tuesday, but they were already closing at 11pm. I suppose that is reasonable, but it was a real bummer at the time! I can’t wait until more people find out about Likewise and it gets a bit more lively on the weekends!

Before coming, I was worried that this bar would be pretentious. But within minutes of stepping foot into LIKEWISE, I felt super welcome. The duo behind the bar were warm and inviting, and the drinks they prepared were super delicious. The live music was a plus! This is a great place to go for meeting new people and just having a great time, in general. I’ll be coming back.

How fun! I have only been in for one residency so far, but have since done a little bit of cyber-stalking and look forward to dropping in for more. Likewise combines many of my loves — installation art; interactive art; galleries that are open after I get off of work; accessible, fun-loving and practical artists; basil drinking tonics; surprise little tucked in spaces in SE; gin. If you find yourself a starving artist, they serve frozen pizza, but encourage outside foods. It’s small, but feels pretty comfortable. They have big wooden bleachers for watching the action on the street, and I think they do screenings sometimes? Ooh, and it’s air-conditioned. Bonus. It’s a bar, yes. And it’s an art bar. But from what I’ve seen, it’s neither pretentious nor snoody. The artists serve as bartenders, so they’re by nature pretty down-to-earth sorts. You don’t even have to be artsy — just stop in for a drink; that’s totally ok to do, plus then you can call yourself a patron of the arts, right?

Likewise is a little different. It is a cocktail bar run by artists. It hosts talks, a select bookstore, video nights and popup events by artists. The artist bartenders in residence are great for conversation, can be theatrical themselves, and the crowd varies depending on the artist and the theme. The drink recipes also change on themes. But they are not going to have every obscure liquor, so don’t complain about that. They sometimes have special brunches and they have presented a punk rock vegan dinner. They hosted the Portland version of #worldslongestselfiestick. So think art school aesthetic and conversations. The space is modern and minimal, all white walls, with black and wood group tables, and stool table seating for 16. There is also a set of wheeled bleachers holding maybe 20 which are uncomfortable. The space may be rented. Likewise is a hidden-in-a-bar nexus for creative people.
