Description

Specialties

Lil Trees handmade guitars & repair provides, in a personal one on one type setting, a place where musicians of all types can come not to a music store but, from the hours of 7am to 3pm, visit a guitar centric, repair minded, single man run repair studio. The repair types I speacialize in are both acoustic and electric, anything from distortion pedal/sampler pads and amp repair all the way over to a complete neck reset/refret on your 1903 model A7 Albert Shutt mandolin. Vintage or new, it does not matter to me, I treat all instruments the same, with respect and a mind for playabuility with ease by ensuring the relationship between neck to body and nut to bridge are as close perfect as possable. I feel that regardless of an instruments value, it’s abuilty to transfer through its tonewoods and componentry the maximum amount of potential string vibration energy into moving air. Most instruments need nothing more than great glue joints and attention to detail to really sing.

History

Established in 2007.

I have been making guitars since 2006. I began working as lead luthier of a local Portland music store here in southeast. While working at the music store I started to build up the tools and number of benches in my personal studio. After reaching a point where I had the tools and materials necessary for the cunstruction of guitars, I resumed building guitars, only now, here in town. I’ve made acoustic and electric guitars with a focus on the electric world. I make all parts of the guitar by hand including the truss rods and pickups. If you haven’t yet played a Lil Trees Guitar, get in touch with me and we can see about changing that for you.

Business Owner

I am a guitar builder living in Portland, Oregon. I moved here in the fall of 2008 from St. Paul, Minnesota. When I am not working as a luthier in Southeast, I am long boarding through my neighborhood, out enjoying a bike ride or evening run, browsing the local lumber yards and making Youtube mix tapes while trying to keep the sawdust down in my shop.
