I am a disabled veteran in a wheelchair. I pulled into the parking lot, planning to buy some food. The disabled spot by the entrance has no wheelchair unloading area, so I parked in the other spot with a disabled wheelchair logo, that had striping next to it. My mom called to ask about my ortho appointment, and I talked to her for a couple minutes, and a man in a black SUV parked ONTHESTRIPEDAREA, with most of the spots in the lot open, effectively preventing me from unloading my wheelchair. I rolled down my window and asked if he could park in a different spot, as I couldn’t unload my wheelchair. He told me it was his place, and a private lot, and that wasn’t the disabled spot(even though it was painted as such, and had a wheelchair logo on the ground and a striped area next to it, which he parked on), and that he was going to call the tow truck because wasn’t shopping. I replied, a little shocked, that I was about to go in, but now I couldn’t. He said he would move but he was calling the tow truck, and pulled out his phone. I drove away, upset, to avoid being towed. This is absolutely the worst I have ever been treated at any business anywhere, as a veteran, as a person with disabilities, as a person. I plan on looking into other ways of reporting this business as well.

A great snack can be acquired at Mak’s Mini Mart. They have a vast array of food, beverages, personal care products and tobacco. The amount of beverages to chose from cannot be underestimated. Prices vary, but things can be wonderfully priced here. Portland State University is one of the big draws to this mini mart. They have Jones apple soda for $ 0.99. I did get a different kind of apple soda for $ 2. Mak’s does have to hang its head low for frequently failing to make their prices noticeable. This is just at the right place, probably at the right time. Mak’s Mini Mart is a worthy contribution to the fray.

They have a lot of beverages(juices and alcoholic); a lot of Middle Eastern ethnic food(rice, mixed nuts, fresh hummus, etc); a lot of tobacco products; alcohol. The place is nothing fancy, but it’s well stocked, and the two people working there were really good natured, polite, and hard working.
