Marion’s Carpet Warehouse

We purchased a 9X12 area rug from Marion’s three years ago and paid $ 800 for it. Within a year it has worn very, very badly. It is all buckled and the backing has spread leaving gaps showing on the front. That’s $ 300 a year. I could have rented the finest rug made for that kind of money. Marion’s has passed the buck on this problem and won’t deal with it. We call them, sent them photos, and had to call back several times only to have them say «sorry, we can’t help you». We are now working with the manufacturer to hopefully resolve the problem. I will never buy from Marion’s again! They will only stand behind the manufactures 1 year warranty. They should stand behind the product they sell better than just saying «sorry, we can’t help you», otherwise don’t sell the product.

I’m in Portland from Los Angeles to renovate a condo and needed carpet fast because I’d like to get home sometime soon. Every carpet place I called was at least a week to schedule installation and that’s if they had the carpet in stock. Angie, the sales person at Marion’s, explained they work with a lot of installers, who are not employees but contractors, but she was sure they could get someone who could do it in a day or two. She also assured me they had plenty of carpet in stock.
Indeed, they had a lot of carpet in stock and at an excellent price. Please note — I’m not terribly picky about the carpet, just had to look good installed. If they didn’t have enough of something, I was happy to pick something else. I picked it out on Monday, it was installed Wednesday morning. Angie was great to work with, very professional. The installer did a great job — in and out, very clean, also very professional. It looks fantastic. I was looking for fast more than a good price, and I got fast AND a good price.

They have a great selection of stair runners. The salesman that helped me was super nice and friendly. I found someone to install it for me for a lower price.

I was able to get the carpet I wanted within two days installed. The process was easy and the installation was wonderful. I will use them again for my next project.

Wow looks like Marion’s have a system of deceit going on. I went to get carpet for 11 steps in my basement. I had photos and dimensions for all the stairs and had my salesperson calculate what I would need. He sold me 21.33 sy of carpet for 11 steps. This is enough to do the stairs plus the whole basement. I had called several times to speak with a manager and they have never called back. If you read other reviews it seems this is a how they do business. Please beware if you want to shop here. They are deceitful and have no customer service.

Do yourself a favor and do not set foot in this «business establishment.» We are wrapping up our 2^nd week in our home with no carpet in our family room. Fortunately, we do not have children or pets. Our carpet was either under ordered or installed improperly because our sketchy installer walked away from our home without completion and said, call Marions, I don’t know what to tell you. Well 2 weeks have gone by and all we have done is call them. Never have they called us to follow up. I nearly put a stop payment on the balance I paid, since the project is incomplete. I could write for days on this, but my main message is: trust their crappy Unilocal reviews… this place won’t be in business much longer.

Without question this place gave me the worst customer experience of my life. Immediately after taking my $ 8k deposit, the sales manger stopped returning any call or message. They short changed the material for the job and would not respond to my contractor for an additional order to complete the job, we ended up having to order from another supplier. Then once the hardwoods were installed, the finish started coming off some of the boards and Marion’s blamed the blue tape that the installers used (unreal!). After speaking to the manager he promised to return my calls but never would. I went to see him in person and he was completely indifferent about my situation after spending over $ 20k at his store. I asked for the owners number and he would not give it to me. Please do yourself a huge favor and don’t buy anything from this store, you will deeply regret the entire experience. This place needs to fire every employee and start over with new ownership. I’ve never written a negative review before but this place deserves to go out of business.

Bryan Huey was a total rock star sales guy for us. From the very beginning of meeting him, we were off to a great start. Bryan is very knowledgeable in his industry and about business and customer service in general. He went above and beyond to make sure we got the beautiful wool carpet we wanted at a great price. We later had a complicated issue to deal with and he couldn’t have been more professional and helpful. Bryan is the BEST. Plus he’s a ton of fun to work with. I’ve recommended him to all my friends.

OMG! I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Marion’s. We went in this past weekend to pick out area rugs for our house. From the moment we walked in we were greeted, treated like royalty, and Tara is one amazing, stellar angel representative. She knows her inventory so well and directed us to exactly what we needed. We found everything that we needed at exceptional prices in about an hour!!! Really! I was in shock. Their inventory for area rugs is ridiculous! We found pure wool, wool mixed with silk, everything that we were dreaming to find.
I then called her on Monday because our flake of a carpet installer did not show… again. No surprise there. We need to get the carpet on our stairs replaced because some workers ruined the edges and took chunks out. Tara took care of everything, walked around the warehouse with me to see what samples matched my carpet sample, and arranged for the installer to be here the next morning. I am in shock of how helpful and lovely Tara and Marion’s have been. We have gone through 10 months of suffering with our ‘new’ home and to have the type of quality service, incredible prices, helpful recommendations… everything has been a blessing. Also, Tara never once tried to up-​sell us. She showed us everything from basic to higher end carpets and let us decide. How beautiful is that?
I cannot say enough wonderful, amazing, positive things about Tara and our experience with Marion’s. I HIGHLY recommend them. If you need carpet/​area rugs/​flooring, this is the only place to go.

We needed carpet for two bedrooms and a basement room. Sales person was very nice and we received a really reasonable quote. We were only buying carpet pad for the bedrooms not the basement. I put % down to hold the carpet and the installer called right away to setup time to measure. He measures we setup an appointment. This is when things went sideways.
I call to pay the remainder of my balance two days before the install and now the balance has jumped up $ 400.00. I’m looking at my receipt and I start asking why is it so much more, we only added a foot or so per the installer. The person answering the phone couldn’t tell me why just said she would call me back. She calls back and says well your sales rep is ooto until Wed but apparently she didn’t quote you for the carpet pad. So you now owe $ 400.00. I asked twice to speak with a manager and was promised a call back that never happened.
At this point I’ve taken the day off for the carpet install and I understand the carpet pad costs money, I’m not asking for free carpet pad but rather I wanted to explain this whole process left a bad taste. I was comparison shopping and thought I had a good deal but in reality I was only looking at half the bid. Plus the fact at some point they realized the mistake and just added it to the bill without calling me, that is shady. In the end the installer did a fine job and I like the carpet. I will not do business with Marion’s Carpet again.

We had a good experience with the sales staff and the installer who did the work. The price and quality were competitive for new carpeting. We were able to take samples home several times to help make our decision. Tarra, our sales rep was patient and knowledgeable. Blake, the installer, and his crew were here on time, worked quickly, and were happy to do some «extras» for a minimal additional price. I would recommend that you check into Marion’s if looking for new flooring.

Marion’s staff was okay, I have a problem with the carpet contractors Marion’s uses. They rescheduled the install twice, and when they finally did come over they were 45 minutes late. When they used my bathroom, they pissed on the floor and left the seat up. I’d go somewhere else, if I had to do it all over again.

A bit spendy. Grab a couple quotes from other places outside of downtown before they get you to commit, we saved hundreds going elsewhere. Decent selection.

We had some issues with our install and carpet. It was not pleasant dealing with the staff, they treated us like second class citizens and at no time followed up with us or fully corrected the issues. They had to replace our carpet and I do not feel we got what we paid for. Look around, there are good installers in Portland, unfortunately this is not one of them. To be fair the second installer was great to work with and did a god job, however the quality of carpet was not what we paid for. I feel like we got ripped off, not a good feeling when you walk into your home and see the result of a bad deal every day. Good Luck.

Absolutely the worst expensive experience of our remodeling! We bought new carpet for our 3000 sq ft house here 2 years ago and it looks like it is 10 years old! I went off the expertise of their salesperson — BAD Decision but I figured I was ok since they offered a 20 year wear and tear warranty well they sent out their «experts» (after numerous calls to our salesperson) who decided if we owned a better vacuum the fibers would stand up again… ah yeah until you walk on it again! Don’t waste your money here they don’t care about their customers or their product! There is a lot of great flooring business in Portland which is where I will be going to replace this crappy terrible carpet as soon as I can afford it that is!

The product at Marion’s is great. Quality and affordable. They did mess up our order and give us the wrong hardwood and i had to drive back to the warehouse to replace it. But, the carpet installers were 2.5 hours late, took chunks out of my baseboards, scratched up my walls and than did not install the transitions to the hardwood floors. We installed the hardwood laminate ourselves. When he came to measure the carpet he told us that we had to install the hardwood first so he could come in and do the carpet and transitions. We re-​arranged our schedule to make this happen and then he neglected to install the transitions. I am still in the middle of resolving all of this and so far the customer service is ok. We will see what happens going forward.
2 days later… I was told by Randy when i originally called on the 6^th that he would call me on the 7^th. I hadn’t heard anything in 24 hours, so I called on the 7^th and left a message with someone. Still no call. On the 8^th I left a VM on the main line before they opened. They have been open for an hour so far and i still have not received a call back.
Randy, is out of town for a couple of days (which i was unaware of) but did not return my phone call. He called the installer to call me, but I still didn’t receive a call. I just spoke to someone else who is also said they would call me back.
The installer came out and fixed the transitions as we discussed.
I did get my issues fixed promptly and have had positive follow up from both Nick and Randy. It may have been bumpy, but things are now all good.
I would have rather not had the issues, but they have been good at resolving them and have been very apologetic.
If you decide to use Marion’s just know that communication is key. Take it upon yourself to know what is happening.
We are extremely pleased with our carpet and hardwood!

Worst Company of any kind EVER. If ANY ONE of the reviewers on here had read the reviews before buying, they would NEVER had bought at Marions. Seams were never done right, So Obvious where they were, even after several trips back.
Justins helper was hung-​over every time they came back, told me he drank ½ case of beer Minumum every night. Damaged my hardwood floors during install. Made promises to fix seams, Bob and Carl were both so clearly done with customer service as soon as the check was clear. Very sad, Dad would be so proud, (NOT). Marions Carpets give Used Car Dealers a bad name :-)

Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase from Marion’s Carpet, but was not satisfied with the crew who installed the carpet.
I did receive a visit from the installer who came by the house to measure the rooms. I was under the impression that this would be the same person who would install the carpet; instead, when it was time for the carpet to be installed, this installer was nowhere to be found. It is almost like he subcontracted out the installation of the carpet to another team.
There was no follow through from Marion’s carpet either, as I was informed that I would be able to rate the installers work.
Typical sales presentation: Over-​promise and under-​perform.
I would recommend checking with other carpet outlets before finalizing on Marion’s Carpet.

They can’t be bothered with us, don’t bother with them.
Last time I was at Marion’s we were looking for an area rug. At the time, they had huge problems with their roof leaking. Because of their misfortune, I cut them some slack for their inattentiveness to us.
Fast forward to today.
My wife is looking for floor tile to redo our kitchen. She is virtually ignored by sales people. When she asks for help, she’s given the «Don’t bother me» attitude that drives me nuts.
You’d a thought she’d come in pushing a grocery cart off the street next to the gospel mission mumbling incoherently.
What is it? Are we not dressed well enough? Did we not park in the lot driving a Land Rover?
All I can say, is skip Marion’s and go somewhere that likes Portlanders visiting the showroom.
Or if you’ve ignored this rant, afterwards go to Pratt & Lambert to wash the bitter taste from your mouth (they are much nicer).

I’m the type of customer that researches and searches, not the type desiring to be fawned over. They could work with that. I have bought a room of padding and carpet from Marion’s. I would go back to the remnant back room as my single source, especially since I don’t need acres of carpet in one style.
From my experience, they have the best prices in the region in their back room remnants area. That says something! They do have the hungry salesperson vibe, so be prepared for that. The one that latches onto you first is the one you get.
Find your own highly rated installer. The one they suggested was fast, but difficult to schedule and made some errors on how the carpet edge matched the door frame. (note to self, think through where the carpet ends, inside or outside door edge) That cost them a star or two.
