My husband and I shopped at Medallion Jewelers looking for our engagement ring and wedding rings. I cannot say enough good things about our entire experience. We had been to several jewelers in Portland and not all great experiences but Medallion was totally different. We were greeted by Erin and helped by Alex. The ring we chose is beautiful and at a price we felt comfortable with. Alex was incredible and made it feel like such an easy experience. When an issue came up with our wedding band he quickly fixed it and made it a very easy situation for us. We were so pleased with our experience and we plan on buying all our fine jewelry from Alex and Medallion in the future.

My wife and I dropped in first thing in the morning to get a family diamond set in her newly purchased ring. We were short on time as we were leaving the country on work the next night and asked Alex what he thought. Without hesitation he took the rings and promised us his best effort. Not FIVE hours later he called us back and had set AND sized the ring. We will not hesitate to send friends, family and our own future business his way. Do it readers, you will not be disappointed…

Just skipped in to have my prong fixed today and I must say it’s nice to be remembered. Everytime I’ve been in, I’m warmly welcomed by either alex or aaron (his friendly well mannered pup) and I always leave 100 percent satisfied. They have stayed open late for me when I was stuck in traffic so I could pick up my ring. My husband and I have full trust in Alex, and like other reviewers, we did our research before coming here. Their prices are lower than other local jewelery shops and we felt we got a higher quality piece. We appreciated the no pressure sale as well. I love my engagement set. Alex helped us and he was awesome. We were shopping around getting prices on diamonds and settings. He did not pressure us at all and showed us a diamond that we could not resist. My fiancé got my engagement ring here and I absolutely love it! My fiancé lives in Korea so he had to coordinate with Alex ordering the band from New York to come to the Portland location. Once in Portland, my fiancé’s last bit of business was picking out a diamond. Alex presented a diamond to my fiancé that he really liked. However, since my fiancé was unfamiliar with jewelry, he went around to some other jewelers in the area to compare prices. He couldn’t find anything that could compare to Alex’s diamond’s cut, clarity and price. Shortly after proposing, we went to Medallion to get the ring sized and Alex was able to do it in only a couple of hours– which was really nice for us because we were only visiting Portland for a couple of days, and the shop would’ve been closed if we tried to pick it up the next day with it being Christmas.
All in all, I am very happy with my ring! Although I only met him briefly, Alex was very friendly and professional. My fiancé said Alex was great to deal with, especially after going to some other jewelers in the area that were not very nice. If you’re looking for an engagement ring, this is the place to go!

This place rocks! I went in to have my engagement ring resized and it was such a pleasant experience from the time I walked into the door. The staff were awesome, and they immediately helped me with what I needed. It was $ 45 to resize my 14k white gold band up a size and it was done in 2 days. The other jewelry stores in the area are… Not nice to say the least. Go here and have a good experience!

Alex had the perfect engagement ring for my criteria. The price was very reasonable and his helpful attention through the process of looking at rings, to buying, to resizing and facilitating the appraisal for insurance purposes was top notch. It was truly an easy and pleasant experience to work with him. I would recommend Medallion to everyone!

I bought a pair of diamond earrings for my wife for our 30^th wedding anniversary from Alex and what an awesome experience. He worked with our budget and size request which was a challenge and delivered an outstanding pair of earrings. Outstanding service which sets the standard for retail jewelry. Pricing is very good too. I have bought jewelry from the the very best and well known companies but this was by far my best experience. Highly recommended.

I went around downtown Portland looking at various stores hoping to find my engagement ring. I looked in various stores and really didn’t find what I was looking for and started to get discouraged. Around three hours into my search I came upon Medallion and was greeted and instantly felt welcome. After about an hour I found the ring I was looking for and could not be happier. This store offers a wonderful assortment of jewelry and the owner Alex will work with you to make sure you find the right piece. Will return in the future.

Lovely experience at Medallion. The shop is immaculate, the customer service professional and courteous, and the work (repair) done in a snap. Nice selection of men’s jewelry, and the diamonds were temptingly brilliant. I will go back!

Based on reviews and the sentimental value of the ring that needed resizing I went to Medallion. Alex is hands down amazing. He could tell right away the ring contained an old diamond and that fixing/​resizing would take some extra care. Within two business days the ring was resized, for a very reasonable fee– and as a bonus when we picked the ring up the famous Aaron the dog greeted us. Just a great small business!

When I got engaged, my mother sent to me a diamond that had belonged to my grandmother. I had no idea what to do with it, so I looked online for help and chose to visit Alex at Medallion Jewelers, based on the glowing reviews.
I gave him an extremely vague description of what I was looking for (solitaire, vintage-​looking, maybe sort of Edwardian…) and a single Pinterest photo. First, he used his contacts to try and locate an actual vintage ring fitting my description. When that didn’t pan out, he created a beautiful custom setting from scratch. The detail work is extraordinarily fine – Alex clearly knows his stuff.
I was included in the whole process, which took several weeks. He emailed me the CAD, answered questions, made adjustments at my request, and then had me come back in to examine the wax before casting. He arranged for my diamond to be sent to a gem lab for appraisal, so that I would be able to get the ring insured. And he quoted me the price for the custom work up front, so there were no surprises at the end. The whole transaction felt very fair.
Bonus: Since I kept coming in on Saturdays, I would always get to see Aaron, the adorable little shop dog. He kept the fiancé occupied while I dealt with the shiny stuff!
When I started this whole process, I was nervous and unsure what to expect. But I am very happy with the result. I can’t imagine getting anywhere near this level of service from a chain jeweler. I will definitely be back soon to pick out a complimentary wedding band!

Great service. I believe I worked with Alex, who made me feel very comfortable while looking for a ring to replace the one my husband lost. He was not pushy, not artificially nice — just a very laid back and genuine person. He also had an adorable puppy, which is a serious perk for me. I found a wonderful ring for my husband. A very pleasant and seamless experience.

Without a doubt, Alex knows a lot about jewelry and designing. He has the ability to make custom jewelry if you have specific designs in mind. That said the designs that Alex carries in the shop are quite stunning too. You’re bound to like multiple designs while visiting the shop.
We were visiting from Seattle for a short duration and my wife had some specific ideas on what she was looking for. We ended up buying a couple of items from the shop with Alex showing great patience with our two kids and still really taking good care in showing the designs. Thanks for the help Alex and we’ll certainly be back.

We won’t go anywhere else for jewelry. Alex and the group were amazing. They took the stones from my parents’ wedding bands (my father died 5.5 years ago) and made them into something that worked for both my husband and myself.
Alex went above and beyond, making sure that we were happy with what we had AND that we were getting the most value for our money. He had the option several times of charging us more without us having any clue (we wanted to make my parents bands into rings … he pointed out that we would be paying twice as much at least!). They’ve earned customers for life, and we will happily recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for a jeweler.
PRO TIP: Aaron the dog comes in on Fridays and Saturdays. He’s amazing, and makes an incredible experience even more so.

Alex is the best. He does everything in his power to help you. And if he can’t help you, he’s honest and steers you in the direction of someone who can. He’s knowledgable about all the local jewelry services. When I needed a rush customization on a pendant I bought, he sent me across the street so I could get the work done within my timeline. He didn’t have to help me, but it was the right thing to do. And that’s the kind of guy Alex is.

After leaving some other retailers feeling like I wasn’t going to be able to find an engagement ring of any quality, Unilocal saves the day again. Being new to the area I had yet to experience the pleasure that is shopping at Medallion. Patricia was very thorough and patient while helping me to find the perfect ring for my fiancé. Alex, the owner, was also a joy to work with. He eased my concerns about buying jewelry from a smaller retailer, even taking the time to show me the «blue book» on diamonds. We’ll be going back to have them create a band for it as well. Thank you both for your dedication to your customers.

My engagement ring was just a tiny bit too big when my fiancé proposed with it, but once I had that shiny, sparkly, hunk of carbon, I didn’t want to let it out of my sight! The jeweler he purchased the ring from is out of state, so I began my hunt for a trustworthy jeweler in town with a goldsmith on-​site. My search led me to Medallion Jewelers and I couldn’t be happier!
When I arrived, Patricia (I think!) greeted me and was genuinely excited to hear my story. She told me she thought they would be able to help get my ring sized down a bit and listened to my concerns about leaving it. She introduced me to Alex, who explained the options available with sizing beads so they wouldn’t have to actually cut my ring to size it down! This was a great option for me since my ring is just slightly too large and once I have a wedding band it will fit more snug.
Before taking my ring for the repair, Alex examined my diamond until he was able to find and read (out loud) the serial number that is etched into it to me so we could verify the stone. He then had me take a look through his microscope to see the inscription as well! He assured me that he would show me the serial number again when I picked up the ring later that day and told me it would take 1 – 3 hours. I was so excited to get the call from Patricia an hour later saying the repair was ALREADY FINISHED!
When I arrived to pick it up, Alex showed me my ring with the new sizing beads and assured me that if they needed adjusted at all I could come in and have them altered. He also had me examine my ring under the microscope again and spent about 15 minutes teaching me about my ring & diamond. It was such a cool experience to learn all about my ring just like my fiancé did when he was shopping for it.
I love that my ring fits better now, and I am so happy I only had to be without it for about an hour! I will probably go back in to have them modify the sizing beads to accommodate my finger size a bit better soon, but ultimately I am so happy with everything about Medallion! I will recommend EVERYONE to come here for any jewelry needs!

Short and Simple: My ring is beyond any of my expectations and I could not be more impressed or pleased!
I got engaged in May and was referred to Alex by a friend who had also worked with him to create a custom masterpiece. It is a very small shop so it takes some time to get on the schedule for custom work, but he is absolutely worth the wait. When an opportunity for him to work on my ring opened up in early August, I jumped at the chance to get it done. I supplied the diamond and left the rest in his hands… and it only took him 2 weeks to completely build it from scratch! When I picked it up this Monday, it was far superior than anyones work I had ever seen. It turned out unbelievably stunning! But the best part? His prices were beyond reasonable!
