Miracle Theatre Group

Love this theater. Every seat is a good one. The acoustics are good. The seats are comfortable. The lobby area is filled with engaging art and information.

I’ve been attending plays at the Miracle Theatre Company for several years, and I’m consistently impressed with the performances. The plays tend to explore interesting and complex issues. Tonight I saw Broken Promises, which tackled the theme of human trafficking – in an hour. Very well written and acted! I had empathy for all the characters and appreciated the question posed to the audience at the end of the performance. I’m can’t lie– I’m looking forward to a lighter topic next time, but kudos to everyone involved. I also love the size and familiarity of this theatre. It feels homey and comfortable!

Went here for a great presentation of American Night, a play written by one of the Culture Clash members from LA. It was one of the best and most dynamic plays I have seen in some time.
This small theater has a friendly staff, fair prices, and affordable pre-​show wine, coffee, snacks, and beer. Don’t expect too much from the refreshments here, but the theater set up and staging is quite good for this small space.

I scored a great deal on tickets to The Ballad of Juan Jose and I’d love to spend this entire review raving about the awesomeness of Richard Montoya’s brilliant play, but alas this is about Milagro, The Miracle Theater.
The venue is very inviting, stage straight ahead when you enter, but – hold your horses – a stop at the bar counter to the right first. Milagro is serving up wine, beer, and snacks. The wine was good (a bit overpriced) and the spicy nut mix is delicious (hello, my little pepitas!) and practically free.
You can take your libations into the theater with you so long as you employ a lid on your cup. No complaints here, but it does mean you’ll need to sip your beer or wine through a straw. Pure class.
The theater and stage are small allowing for an incredibly intimate performance. The seats are padded and surprisingly comfortable, 2 hour show and no numb-​butt comfortable.
The cast was phenomenal; I’m convinced there is no better word to describe them and their performance. It was a pleasure to watch them act and sing. I wanted to throw roses at them torero style while they were taking their bows.
I know this review will exist long after The Ballad of Juan Jose has ended it’s run at Milagro (through 5÷23÷15), but if you catch it before it’s gone, do it! You can thank me later.

I spent a Sunday afternoon watching a highly emotional performance here.
Parking is awkward, I was lucky enough to get a spot but next time I think I’ll try public transit and avoid that whole scenario. The theater is small and «unimpressive» but STICK WITH IT; the actors are incredible, you’ll feel sincere emotions for the characters, and there isn’t a bad seat in the house! Acoustics are also stellar for everyone, it isn’t difficult to enjoy the performance in this venue.
It’s spanish speaking, but don’t get scared! It’s a bilingual establishment and everyone speaks in both English and Spanish. They’ll also have English super titles for anyone who needs them… The script shown is extremely close to what’s being said, there isn’t a huge amount of awkward language transition.
The concessions aren’t very good. Drinks seem safe, but quantity can be limited (I had to purchase the display bottle of water, which was thankfully from the same batch everyone else got that day) and the tiny cookies are overpriced and a bit stale. I think a meal before a showing would be the perfect way to visit this place, then you only need water throughout the actual play. I think concessions are something that they would improve if they had more attendees and higher demand. I don’t blame them for limited snacks because this place just doesn’t get the hype that it deserves. I’m willing to give them time on that and see how they improve over a period of time. I didn’t go for the snacks, after all!
I have no words for how moving and talented the performers were. I’ll be going here again and again, so just expect to see more!

This was my first theater experience and I loved every minute of it. Super friendly staff. The theater seating is very intimate. Not a bad seat in the house. Tickets are decently priced at $ 25. The organization uses theater and art to educate on culture and other community related items. The theater is Latino based but fun for all types of backgrounds. After one visit I was so impressed I became a season subscriber.

We recently attended Oedipus del Rey, a retelling of the Oedipus Rex story done in the barrios of east LA. It was an excellent show, with strong leading actors, an appropriate mix of english/​spanish (I only speak a little Spanish…) and intense realism. The supporting actors were a mix, but from a small local theater, I was impressed. The seating is another plus, nice and close to the action, and the actors often move out into the audience.

2^nd time seeing a play at this theatre, first time review.
I like that this theatre represents spanish/​latino culture.
I like that tickets are cheap.
I like the plays I have scene.
I like the up close and personal seating.
I love the art.

I want to come to every show. I’m a fan. I walked in the door and I fell. Literally. I fell. My friend opened the door and I just walked on in eyes open wide looking around and tripped over my own feet. The theatre was saying «Welcome» even though I fell I jumped up quickly and acted like I meant to do that. The walls are brightly colored and you can immediately turn right to a café of sorts, small tables and chairs and a little make shift coffee bar. As always attended by a beautiful girl who wants to give me her treats. I bought a spicy hot chocolate and toured the small space. People were buzzing about waiting for the show to go on and I squeezed through to go to the window and get my ticket. The folks were friendly as they should be and showed me the seat map and confirmed I had excellent seats. This is a small theatre so really you can’t have a bad seat anywhere. Since the Milagro or Miracle theatre is a Spanish language they have a electronic billboard above with English subtitles. I had an incredible night here and look forward to supporting this group and maybe participating.

My partner and I watched a very good production at this location about a year ago… and enjoyed it very much. The theatre itself is smaller, with very small seats, but the environment was intimate and cool. The acting was decent… and the play was as well. It’s worth a trip… and very easy to find. Parking is on the street… but we didn’t have trouble locating a spot nearby.

Nice small theatre on the central east side. It’s also called the Milagro Theatre and it specializes in Spanish/​Latino theater. We saw Te LLevo en La Sangre, a play about an Argentinian radio show and its actors during the overthrow of the Peron Government. There were three interwoven stories, including a murder, told in Spanish with English subtitles on a reader board above the actors. It was great.
Reasonably priced refreshments, all good seats, friendly staff. Another sweet theater venue. Theater should be like food. Support your local producers. Keep it Fresh and Local.

I should have written this while the performance I saw was still on, my bad. I went to «Cuentos — Searching for my Story» by Viva la Cultura! and it was incredibly moving and uplifting. Not the best performance I have ever seen or best story or best theatre set, but it was genuine and raw.
The performance was under an hour which was enough time to express what it needed to. The play is billed as a search for cultural identity through music and I couldn’t have put it any better way. The production was both in English and in Spanish but you don’t need to understand both to be moved by its message. The performance was both soliloquy and folk guitar and song. There were quite a few children in the audience and towards the end they passed around maracas and tambourines for a group song. I feel this is a VERY good theatre for children. It exposed them to different languages, culture and music. In addition to thoughts of identity and family.
The folks at this theatre are so incredibly friendly, they allowed me to take photos (without flash) during the performance. My friend and I hung around to talk to the musicians afterwards and the stage manager invited us out for a meal with them! It was so spontaneously fun, I had the best time.
