I am sad to say I had the worst customer service experience. I called regarding pricing and an older gentleman answered. He not only cut me off while talking to him but also hung up on me. I will never support a company who won’t even listen to their customers.

I went in on Saturday with an idea of what I wanted, and within 15 minutes, I had purchased a queen bed frame with the customizations that I wanted, all at an amazing price. As promised, the bed was delivered on time on Wednesday (yes, only 4 days later), assembled in my bedroom in 10 minutes, and ready to sleep on that very night. This was the easiest and most satisfying buying experience I’ve had in a long time. Price, quality, and turnaround time are unbeatable. I highly recommend this shop for all your wood furniture needs!

Really beautiful, solid bed which came out just as we wanted it. His crew picked up the mattress, helped me move the rug, moved the mattress and bed up a flight if tight stairs, assembled the bed and were gone in about twenty minutes. Couldn’t be more happy. As for the character issues with Ted, I have found that portlanders are a bit serious and don’t react to sarcasm and teasing very well. If you take it as it is, there will be no problem. But don’t let that get between you and a really nice bed.

Recently bought a bed from Ted & the gang at Mission Craft. I think the reviews already touched on the experience.
The bed is great quality, and something we couldn’t have gotten elsewhere anywhere close to the price ballpark we got here. Its definitely a cut above (no pun intended) the MDF or particle board you might find at Ikea or online. Locally made is always good as well. Some of the communication stuff has some truth to it, but overall, we’ll definitely be considering MCF when it comes time for the next bed

Purchased queen sized unfinished bed in June, 2014. Paid for delivery and bed delivered. I had to ask the guys to put screws so slats would not be loose. Fine. 1 week later the bed collapsed. Thin beam underneath had collapsed. Owner took the call but attitude wasn’t the greatest ever. He did send his guy out so that’s great. Recently tried to move the bed and had to remove headboard. When putting the headboard back on, I discovered there is an issue with the holes that were drilled. The screws are super loose and there is no way to get them in there properly, so the headboard to bed remains loose. I would say, go somewhere else where you can get nicer customer service and someone who gives a #&*@ about smaller jobs. I think he is a nice guy overall who obviously does some good work judging by the better reviews.

Ordered a bed and met with the owner. He is honest, genuine and truly a character. I could not have asked for a better experience. The bed is perfect. He is a master of his craft. Well done.

Ted and his team designed and made our beautiful California King bed. We love it! We chose Cherry wood, which is beautiful just oiled. The bed was delivered and assembled for us in SE PDX. It is solid and a nice simple design.
Ted is a real no nonsense guy, so don’t expect a fancy showroom with someone bull-​shitting you. He is a craftsman though, and we appreciated the good price and solid furniture. Hopefully we will be able to order matching bedside tables from him in the future.

We just purchased a bed and 2 bedside tables from Mission Craft and are completely satisfied with the materials (select solid maple), workmanship and service. The price was fair, even generous especially considering the tables were customized to our exact specifications. True, Ted has a direct, no nonsense manner but he’s not mean, condescending or deceptive. Just don’t expect to be swept off your feet when you walk in the door but enjoy the fact that Ted is an honest craftsman and that you won’t have to sort through a lot of BS before you make your decisions. Because of our special requests, it took a while to get our stuff but Ted never failed to take our calls when checking on progress. Delivery was by 2 friendly, efficient Portland type guys who arrived exactly on schedule.

Nice enough furniture, but horrible service and a bad attitude from the owner. I ordered my bed frame 3 ½ weeks ago – was told it would take two weeks. Had to call the owner to arrange a delivery (of course he had told me they would call – and apparently it had been ready for a week). we agreed upon a delivery for today. I got rid of my old bed, and was really looking forward finally getting the new bed, and this joker never showed up or bothered to call to cancel. I left a couple of messages, and finally reached him later that evening – apparently he never checks messages or bothers to call people back. His attitude was less than concerned and he wouldn’t even commit to a delivery tomorrow. Maybe he got his friends to write the glowing recommendations, but I suggest you forget about dealing with this company. They are slow, don’t keep their promises, and the owner is a condescending jerk. He cashed my check very promptly though.

I just got off the phone with this guy and I’ll tell you right now, I will never give him any money. After just buying my very first mattress & box spring, I called to ask about his platform bed. I’m well aware that platform beds usually only need a mattress, but since we basically had to buy a box to get our mattress warranty, I figured I’d ask if it could take one. What the hell, right?
WRONG. This guy made me feel like a total asshole, saying things like «There’s just no talking you people out of this.» Lumping me into a group of pro-​box spring activists or something. In the end, he said I could have it made however I wanted it, and his work is beautiful, there’s no doubt it would have come out great, but he was so mean that I’d just rather look elsewhere.
Maybe I don’t have thick enough skin, but dude, be nice to people that you’re about to make money from. I don’t need you to hold my hand or anything, but don’t make me feel like a shitbag over a box spring.

This place is awesome. Go online, pick what you want, go see Ted (you may drive right by the place, but it’s here), and he’ll have in and out in 5 minutes. Dude does great work, the materials are A+, costs are a bargain and there’s a lifetime warranty. Honestly silly to go elsewhere. It’s nothing but efficiency, which I appreciate. Also, Ted’s dog kicks it in the office, and is a good boy. So, there’s that. Awesome experience.

Saw one of Mission Craft’s ads online and called to order a simple pine platform bed frame with walnut stain. The owner Ted quoted me a great price and it was ready for pick-​up the next day by 4 pm. The bed frame was simple to assemble, looks great, and feels sturdy under my mattress. Quality product at an affordable price from a no-​bullshit kind of guy. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Highly recommended.

You know that really nice bed frame you saw at Pottery Barn that costs $ 1800? Ted at Mission Craft can make that for you at less than half the cost and for higher quality and have it for you in a matter of days. I couldn’t be happier with the bed Ted made for my wife and me. We chose the style, the wood (solid pine), our choice of stain, we gave him the dimensions and he had it ready in 2 days, delivered and set it up for the price of an Ikea bed but 50x the quality. For those who claim Ted is tough to work with, well, he’s a woodworker, not a salesman, and a no nonsense guy. We were in out of his office in less than 10 minutes after choosing our design, he worked with me via email on dimensions to make sure it looked good and it did. He was great setting up the bed and even took a few minutes to pet our cat! If I need more furniture made I’ll be going back. Check Ted and Mission Craft out, you will NOT be disappointed!

You owe it to yourself to have Mission Craft make you something. Extremely happy with the quality, design and price of our walnut bedroom set. We went in w/​a drawing of what we wanted, and it turned out better than expected in just a few weeks. Some Unilocalers have criticized Ted on his communication or ease of working with, not true. Communication and ability to work with Ted was just fine. If you’re looking for someone to kiss your tail and tell you how amazing your choice in furniture is, or how you exude awesomeness… well they’re probably trying selling you something made from crate wood and or veneers. If you want quality old school craftsmanship like your grandpappy made, at a reasonable price, with amazing materials, then come here.

I had a great experience with Mission Craft Furniture! I couldn’t spend much money on what I was shopping for (a bed frame), but Ted was flexible about the price and found me a much nicer bed frame than I was expecting to buy. He was also really flexible about delivery. Overall, a great experience!

I recently purchased a bed frame in cherry wood from Mission Craft. Ted and his team were very helpful and accommodating. They clearly went over my options in terms of price, types of wood and finishes, which allowed me to make the optimal choice for me. Their turn-​around time was impressive (just a few days). We are very pleased with our purchase and highly recommend Mission Craft. Their furniture is beautiful and we will definitely be back.

This place produces some fantastic handcrafted pieces, but what a shenanigan getting it.
When I placed the order and put my deposit down Ted questioned where the cash I had given him came from. He asked me, «Are you a waitress or something?» I told him no, I just didn’t have a checking act and he said he only took cash or checks. He then asked what my husband did for a living. I started to get uncomfortable at this point, as I am mixed race, I was sitting there with my 2 year old son, and we were in the burbs — potential for racism running high on my thought process. What did he think, that it was drug money? I told him we both worked in advertising if he must know and that if he had a preference for checks over cash he should have said so. Get a card machine dude. I left there feeling uncertain if I had made the right choice in my purchase, but I had spent months researching beds and didn’t want to go back to the drawing board.
As I was saying, I ordered a custom king size bed from Ted which was promised to be ready in a week, stained walnut, have a side panel where there were no drawers (one side had drawers the other did not) and no spaces between the slats because I have a temper pedic bed and space in the slats voids the warranty.
Two and half weeks later the bed was ready to be delivered. Again, I have a baby so of course the delivery team arrived at my house at the end of the day and after 8pm (just in time to wake him up).
The bed came in the wrong color (natural oil stain), with half the amount of slats and no side panel. The guys who delivered argued that their purchase order said this is what I ordered. Dude, I am pretty sure I know what I ordered. So I told them to set it up b/​c I needed a bed that night regardless and to call Ted. Ted admitted the botch up on his end and said he would make me a new bed which would take another week (read three weeks, no thanks). I told him I could live with the color, but they needed to fix the rest of the order pronto. The guys left at 9pm and one returned at 10pm with additional slats so we could at least go to sleep that night on a bed.
The next day they returned with the side panel. Ted called again the following day to ask if everything had arrived as it should snce he hadn’t received payment from his guys. I laughed and told him that they were probably off partying with the $ 400 cash I gave them.
Overall, terrible experience from start to finish, but love the bed. It is beautiful.

Ted is an old-​school no-​nonsense craftsman. He’s like the handy-​man we all wish we knew who can do quality work at very good prices. He’s in the furniture making business and not in the butt-​kissing business, so if what you want is a good product for a good price, he’s your guy. If you want someone to fawn all over you, go to Restoration Hardware and spend five times as much. I won’t judge.
Another Unilocaler mentioned a bad BBB rating. I went to the BBB website, and their official determination was that Ted tried to make good to the customer but the customer couldn’t be satisfied. Don’t we all know someone like that?
We bought a mattress at Mulligan Mattress, and Ted at Mission Craft made us a bed for it. The bed was $ 300, plus he delivered it and set it up for $ 30… But you could probably do that part yourself.
A few months after we bought our bed, an unrelated mold problem cropped up in our bedroom, and it got onto the bed. I visited Ted at Mission Craft to find out what could be done about the bed frame. He had the frame sanded and re-​stained, and charged me a grand total of $ 15 to replace the center slats, his cost. He had it all back to me within a day.
***Our $ 300 investment was saved within one day for a total of $ 15. That is customer service you can only find from local craftspeople who care about their customers.***
This was months ago, and the bed frame is still perfect.

Awesome quality, Honest Pricing, Down to earth builder, No BS.
There are a lot of furniture makers out there, but I think I have found the place that’s going to be furnishing my home for a very long time to come! Can’t wait for my new Brazilian cherry platform bed! Future list is going to have to include: new dresser, couch, and dining set. Ted, the owner of the place, is down to earth, and full of good advice, making the selection process easy. He’s not a slick salesman, and you are just as likely to be meeting him at his shop, as you are in his showroom, a block away. It’s cool to get to know the actual people who make such heirloom, quality furniture. Friends don’t let friends buy Ikea!

Ted, the owner is a bit unresponsive at times in terms of communication however, the quality of craftsmanship and price is all there. He made us two beautiful custom designed (by me) night stands that we love. Now, we are working on beds for our twins. We have several other projects for him in the future.
