Great experience.
Jay, the owner, was extremely friendly and I’m thankful for how accommodating he was. Our room was very tidy and smelled quite clean upon entrance, and all toiletries and towels were fully stocked. Coffee was fully stocked, too, which was a really pleasant surprise for me. The DVD player functions well. We were even given a username and passcode for free wifi (it was pretty speedy). Up to three devices can be connected, but you can disconnect one device to connect a new one if you liked — honestly, it wasn’t at all an issue. We had some reservation but they were solved quickly by Jay, and I really appreciated that.
No pets, but the only animal I brought was my friend, so it was no issue again! There’s also free coffee in the lobby, so that’s cool.

Outstanding motel! If visiting Portland and/​or surrounding area, you will not be disappointed with your stay here. Extremely clean! Owners are very friendly! If we are fortunate to travel this way again, we will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for one night and wished it was longer! Loved that it was family and the owners were super nice! Got in after 11 and was in my room within 10 minutes. Room was awesome! Super comfy bed and pillows, lots of space and full fridge and stove! Really close to the transit center and got into downtown in 15 minutes on the red line. Will stay here again in the future!!!

Clean room, very kind staff, would definitely stay here again. A friend who stayed with me said they think they brought bed bugs home from here but I got home clean. This friend also doesn’t exactly have the most cleanly apartment…

BED BUGS bites found on me and my wife the next day. I don’t know what all good reviews are for? We have stayed at many other places along the way for much less money. And a $ 20 deposit paid up front. They say they will refund it, we will see how that goes in the morning.
In the morning, as you leave you have to wait while the cleaning staff checks your room. Then they give you your $ 20 back on your visa.
I have travelled for 2 weeks this trip, and have travelled many years and I have never been asked to pay a deposit up front. As I stood there waiting I told the lady that we stayed in much nicer places and paid a bit more on our trip down I-​5. For example, we paid $ 225 for a very nice place on nice street in San Francisco within walking distance to fisherman’s wharf. $ 160 in a run down area of town I said «if this is a good rate in Portland then Portland is overpriced.»
I can tell you how lousy I felt standing there waiting to get my money back, and made sure I let her know about it.
Furthermore, when you call on the phone don’t expect to receive good customer service on the phone from Lina or what ever her name is.

My wife and I had taken the red-​eye flight into Seattle, driven the rental car to Portland and really needed to take a nap. So we asked the manager for an available room. It was possible, so we were checked into a very clean, nicely maintained room. Usually these mom-​n-​pop businesses have a musty smell, cheap bedding, chipped paint, peeling wall paper, and scary bathrooms. Not here, everything was great. Even the bed had a couple of memory foam pillows.
Ask for a room away from the street if possible. The motel is on a 4-​lane route with a railroad line another 60 feet away.
The next time we plan to be in Portland, this is the first place I’ll check for room availability. It was a great room at a good price.
My wife left her phone charger there, the manager called about 8 minutes after we had left to tell us. Thanks!

Very nice suprise. Very clean, nice to have fridge and microwave. Wish we would have had 2 bedside tables though.

Flew in on the red eye and it was hard to find anything cheap during 4^th of July weekend. Found this place here on Unilocal.
Starting with perks:
— has a hairdryer (hit or miss in cheap hotels)
— loved the memory foam pillows
— nice staff
— delicious complimentary coffee
All reviews are correct. Nice little rooms but paper thin walls. Could hear the neighbor complaining that he could hear us, so I said, «Yeah guy? We can hear you too.» all from the comfort of our beds at 7 am. Awkward… I mean I’ve heard neighbors at other cheap hotels before like if they were drunk and obnoxious, but this was really bad, could hear word for word. If you are there JUST to sleep and leave, no problem. Don’t know if there is a way to fix the sound issue, other than that I would have given 5 stars.

Great place and the owner was very gracious and helpful. The room was immaculate and clean. One note if you’re a larger person it might be a problem with the bathroom being on the smaller side.

Stayed here again last week. The room was super clean and the service was friendly as always. This is my go-​to spot even if they weren’t such a good value.

I hate to have to rate this so low. The room was very clean, the rates are great, but the walls are paper thin. I could hear the guy in the room next door snore all night followed by a very long and intense conversation very early in the morning. Other than not being able to sleep, it’s a fantastic deal.

I had a very nice stay here. I normally go for something a bit more upscale, but at the Nordic Motel I felt I had all I needed to be comfortable for a great price, plus, the convenience of being closer to the airport.
The best part was the friendly staff. I left some clothing in my room. Before I had even left Portland, the manager graciously called me to tell me and ended up sending me the clothing!
Also, they were aware I was a musician and needed to practice and made every effort to make sure I had a place to practice without disturbing anyone.
A very nice experience.

If you’re looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay near PDX, go no further!
The Nordic Motel was furnished nicely and really clean. Your room will also have cable to go with the nice flatscreen TV and DVD player, as well as a small refrigerator and microwave oven and free Wi-​FI.
Definitely a great value and friendly staff. Recommended!

Nasty!
Me and my boyfriend got into town pretty late needed a place to stay for the night we checked in around midnight.
we walked in the room and it smelled really bad :/​
This place I won’t ever recommend.
we had to use car air freshener that we had in the car. In the morning we tried to take showers and we didn’t have any hot water. Wow what a dump.

Stayed here while attending a weekend convention in Portland. I had a car so there was no need for public transit. I got upgraded for free to a suite with a small kitchen. There was plenty of space, the room was clean, and the bed even had memory foam pillows! Wasn’t expecting that from a motel for sure! The staff was super friendly and even stayed up for me when I was checking in late at night when I first arrived. The room had pretty decent wifi. I was able to stream some shows on my netbook.
Overall, I’m satisfied and would stay here again!

If you want an inexpensive place near the highway and airport that is clean and has a comfortable bed, this is a good bet. We were only going to be staying in this particular area a couple days and would be gone all day long until late so we really didn’t care about a lot of amenities.
It’s nice that they have a small refrigerator and microwave and a DVD player for you to use. Bummer you have to go to the lobby to get a free cup of coffee, though.
With that said it is still a motel. The bathroom is tiny. The walls are thin. You will hear traffic noise and if you have a loud neighbor you will hear them, too (luckily we only had to listen to one loud phone conversation our neighbor had).

OVERALL SLEEPER DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH VALUE! Stayed 7÷10÷14
For a quick stop during a layover, or a week long vacation, the amenities in the room make this a great stay covering a variety of needs.
For a dime more than Motel 6, you get a way more comfortable bed, kitchennet with stove, fridge, and microwave.
Oh and Its close to everything.
SLEEPY TIME:
Bed was very comfortable and clean (with bed bags for those concerned about bed bugs), the building was booked during my stay, but not very loud. I heard the train a few times, but this is standard background noise for the area.
Bathroom:
Here’s where things get dicey. I was appreciative of the ADA size toilet which is larger than a miniature (read my previous critiques about motels) one, but there was a damn stumble of leftover shaved hair on the sink. FUJIN’ GROSS!!!
The staff needs to double check these rooms and spend a little more time cleaning. This made me look around more, and I just started to notice thick layers of dust everywhere. CHECK THE WINDOW SILLS and clean them.
Ok enough of that. In my opinion, mistakes happen and I could hang.
CLEANLINESS: SO-​SO
NEIGHBORHOOD/​EXTERIOR: Ghetto
STAFF: I only met the front desk person late at night and she was wonderful help in getting me an early taxi.
OVERALL CRITIQUE:
Highly recommend if they clean up the dust and watch out for errant shaved stubble!

Excellent value! I’ve stayed here twice and will continue to do so. Rooms are spotless and new, with high-​end touches like granite countertops in the bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. The five minute drive to the airport takes all the stress out of getting there. The location is also convenient for visiting the Columbia Gorge.
The office has excellent free local coffee, and the owner is super helpful and accommodating. The German Bakery down Sandy Blvd is a fun place to have a delicious traditional lunch special or German breakfast. Elmer’s on Sandy is a local breakfast chain similar to IHOP.
A few tiny nitpicks:
Sandy Blvd and the trains passing there can get noisy, so if you are sensitive to this ask for a room away from the road.
Agree with another reviewer that as a single woman I would’ve probably preferred having a chain on the door to the room. However, I always felt very safe there; my impression is that the owner keeps an eagle eye on things.
I generally prefer to not have cleaning staff come in my room during my stay so I always hang the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. In this case, though, it didn’t deter the cleaning person, who came in anyway while I was gone. A minor annoyance.
