Saw Dr. DeGregorio at Zoomcare but was referred to follow up w/​him at NW Gastro. Also saw Dr. Smith at NW Gastro. Both doctors asked me if I experienced «trauma». Dr. DeGregorio went on a 20 min. tirade about the «mind/​body» connection basically implying that what was happening in my guts was in my head. Luckily Dr. Smith gave no lecture but downgraded my diagnosis, told me to take miralax for the rest of my life, and when my CT scan showed a mass, dismissed me to my gynecologist with no further help.
It turns out both these guys missed intestinal endometriosis & had either of them paid any attention… instead of looking for the problem being psychological or telling me to take propylene glycol (ingredient in jet fuel) forever they might have put 2 & 2 together. Female with Endo + IBS symptoms = duh.
These guys need to get I’ve themselves & try to do what they can to actually help women like me. I know I’m not the only one who has had to deal w/​such nonsense but I hope this review will help other women with Endo & IBS symptoms avoid these guys & go to someone who will care.

Called three different times trying to setup an appointment with the doctor. Still waiting for someone to call me back. If you can’t handle something as simple as scheduling I’m not going to trust you with my well being.

This ‘doctor’ wrote me off as soon as he saw I was a senior. He told me that I didn’t want to get well! He told me all kinds of things. to avoid telling me that he either didn’t know what was wrong with me or he didn’t care what is wrong with me. Unless you’re up for this kind of treatment, when you’re unwell, then please ignore my review and take your chances!

Not willing to write a proper review. Just have to note that one of the doctors in this practice saved my life. He should pat himself on the back or something.

These people do not legitimately care about their patients. Just like the rest of this country, they are money hungry and money driven. While the doctor I was seeing was a friendly enough guy, they do not care what’s going on with your health unless you are paying for it. I’m sick of Doctors like this, living with Crohn’s disease has exposed how disgusting this industry is. They will push pharmaceuticals on you, the pharmaceutical companies are after all paying them to do so. How is Humera used to treat Acne, Arthritis, AND Crohn’s disease? The commercials make me even MORE sick. NW Gastro was my follow up clinic after a trip to the ER for Crohn’s complications, they denied me follow up treatment due to an outstanding bill from an insurance deductible, knowing very well I was put on a high dose of steroids, and refused to at least refill the prescription. I had to miss work and spend another 5 hours in the ER in order to get the medication I needed or suffer severe medical consequences. Honestly I could care less about paying that outstanding bill at this point. My suggestion, find a doctor interested in treating the cause, not the symptoms. Are there no doctors left that are invested in curing people? Oh yeah… if they start curing our ailments they’ll stop making money.

I have seen Dr. Matthew Smith three times. Twice for appointments and once for a procedure. All three times he has been super friendly. Probably the friendliest, most sociable, doctor I have ever had. That really put me at ease (which is hard since I am afraid of doctors) and he answered all my questions. You can tell he wants his patients to feel better, and it’s appreciated.
As Andrew S. noted, doctors at this practice have different personalities so make sure you know what you want. I prefer a doctor who will have a little chit-​chat and smile and joke around — it makes me feel comfortable. If you prefer something more straight forward you may want another doctor, but I really cannot say enough good things about Dr. Smith. Everyone else (the nurses, receptionists, etc) are very professional and sociable. All around a great practice!

Nothing but praise so far for this clinic. All of the staff, from the receptionists to the schedulers to the insurance billing folks, have been incredibly helpful, pleasant to work, and on top of it. I saw Barry T. DeGregorio, MD and have never had a better doctors appointment in my life. He really took time to ask about my situation, explain things and see if I had any questions about the path forward. It is worth the couple weeks wait to get in.

I was sent to Northwest Gastroenterolgy two years ago for ailments that my general practitioner wasn’t able to treat, or properly identify the source of. I have since learned that I have Ulcerative Colitis, and have been seeing Dr. Derek Taylor ever since.
My experience with the disease has been less than ideal. What was initially considered to be a minor case eventually got much worse (doc can’t control these things). My needs from Dr. Taylor have evolved as much as the severity of my condition, and he’s consistantly proven to be professional, upfront, respectful, and effective in working with me through a rather uncomfortable condition that features symptoms that aren’t always easy to talk about with others.
Dr. Taylor comes across as very professional. Sometimes a little too professional even– not really one for casual chit chat– but I like that more in a doctor who’s job is to treat a condition related to my colon– and symptoms that are often awkward to discuss. His analysis and advice is always to the point, and I feel like I am engaged in understanding all of the facts and circumstances of my illness before making decisions regarding my health and well-​being.
During the lowest point of my experience with the disease, I was hospitalized for an extended period of time at Good Samaritan Hospital, where Dr. Taylor works (in addition to his office hours at the clinic). He was generally unhappy with the fact that I’d let my condition get out of hand to the point it had, but never patronized me in any way, or made me feel at fault. Instead, the tone was about the importance of seeking help as a preventative measure rather than reacting to worsening symptoms.
For a period of time, my family came to stay in town and help my treatment and recovery process in the hospital. My mother was very shaken by the experience of watching her son go through the physical changes I did, as well as the pain I exhibited due to the disease. Dr. Taylor was excellent at keeping her very up to speed and informed about treatment options and potential risks. In situations where the solutions carry their own weight in risks, it’s helpful to feel knowledgeable of the situation and trusting of the doctor’s opinion.
During my month-​long hospital stay, I also received care from Dr. Saad Jazrawi and Dr. Matthew Smith. Both were also helpful with clear and concise updates on lab tests, meaning of results, and potential options for me to consider for treatment.
Illnesses such as mine don’t always have the same symptoms, instigators, reactions, pains, and treatments. It’s a process to work to find a solution that is successful for each patient. I’m glad to have been directed to Dr. Taylor at NW Gastro, and will continue working with him in my continued treatment of my disease and general well-​being.
