Olive Branch School is a year round Montessori Primary School environment serving children ages 2.5−6 years old, and their families. Our school offers a range of experiences that encourage critical thinking, support cognitive and executive functioning and nurture positive social interactions. We are a licensed Music Together preschool, a certified child care family home, and provide vegan and gluten-​free meals to meet families’ needs.

History

Established in 2015.

Founder Emily Canibano has rich background in education. She attended Benedictine University, studying English language and literature with a minor in secondary education. Her educational presentation earned her a fellowship from the Academy of Urban School Leaders. Although public education was not the right fit, she continued to learn and teach over the years, attaining certifications in a variety of health and fitness programs. She spent a decade engaged in the development and implementation of curriculum at the preschool level, presenting workshops to NFPs, schools and corporations, teaching Baby Sign, Mommy and Me, birth, lactation, and parenting classes.

Building on this diverse background, and her growing family’s Montessori lifestyle, she procured a diploma from Association Montessori Internationale at the Primary level and a M. ed from Loyola University. She continues yearly, and often monthly, ongoing training, including Music Together specialist.

Business Owner

Emily brings her life long passion for learning and teaching to Olive Branch School, a natural extension of her life’s work in supporting early learners and families.

Her educational presentation earned her a fellowship from the Academy of Urban School Leaders. Although public education was not the right fit, she continued to learn and teach over the years. Development and implementation of curriculum at the preschool level, presenting workshops to NFPs, schools and corporations, teaching Baby Sign, Mommy and Me, birth, lactation, and parenting classes while nurturing a growing family are joyful accomplishments.

Motherhood has provided many additional learning opportunities; from homeschooling her eldest to raising a child with pediatric epilepsy Emily has expanded her knowledge with each new phase of life.
