Stumbled across Pacific in early January — very happy to have found it. Prices are reasonable and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Wish they were open on the weekends! Will be back for salmon ends and poke very very soon :)

I have consistently shopped here for 20+ years. I have never been disappointed with my order. The service is polite and helpful. The fish is fresh. Nothing else to say. The owner still uses a pencil and paper. That is always a good sign for me!

We have ordered fresh crab annually for many years and always get top notch service… friendly and helpful. We love the 5 lb fresh frylegs, what a delicacy! You will enjoy these wonderful people and their excellent products.

I love this place, I just wish they were open on the weekends. Very friendly and the quality is outstanding.

The most awesome place in town to get fresh oysters. They also have fresh whole tuna in the month of August you gotta love it it’s much cheaper to buy it there. Its an extra dollar a pound more than it is to get a Newport. So save the drive go to Pacific seafood it’s the best place in town.

I’m mixed on Pacific Seafood. I have friends who ocean fish to support their families. Some have lost their life fishing. Pacific has been a very rough bargainer with fishers. Pacific Seafood is no doubt supporting families of employees. Eating fish customers are all in supporting their own same family values.

If you can buy direct from a fisher, recommend it. For salmon, if you have a chance to buy from a native fisher, that is ideal. Salmon are literally part of the spiritual fabric of many Northwest tribes. And of course you can catch fish yourself!
Pacific is next best.
They understand sustainability better than most and can tell you where the fish are sourced.
If you are near one of their coast cleaning factories the fresh packed shrimp is sublime. Small Oregon pink coldwater shrimp are in season April-​October each year and are fished sustainably.
If you are buying «local sustainable» seafood at a store, question. Who caught when. Where. Does the fish go by other names. Likely you are getting fish from Pacific.
This particular store is small. It has a selection of the most common local fish and shellfish, fresh and frozen.
The Pacific Foods website, with a bigger selection, is maintained by the warehouse in Clackamas. The warehouse is focused on filling wholesale and restaurant orders, there is no retail there.
But if you see something on the Pacific Foods website, phone ahead a day in advance to the Powell store to see if they can special order it for you.

Great place for sustainable seafood!

Far and away best/​freshest seafood in Portland. We’ve shopped all the others, and Pacific Seafood has the best: ling cod, crab, mussels, dover sole, petrale sole, tru cod. Great and knowledgeable service too.

Oh hell yes. I am so excited to have found Pacific Seafood.
When your loved one has frequent hankerings for seafood of all varieties, and you both find the oyster cravings are coming faster than you can earn the dough to buy them, Pacific has got your back.
I love this place for so many reasons:
–great friendly service. They are matter of fact, helpful, quick and funny. I always rush over right after work to grab a dozen oysters before they close at 6, and they always serve it up with speed.
–prices are off the hook. Most oyster varieties are 6.95 for the dozen, and they will order whatever variety you want if you call ahead. Lobster tails are almost too cheap NOT to buy, and tuna steaks are crazy affordable.
–great selection. They have pretty much any variety of shelfish and seafood you can think of, and you can order with short lead time anything else you want including live crawfish.
If you even remotely enjoy seafood, promise me you’ll make a trip by here. If you don’t see what you want, I’m willing to bet that crack team of seafoodistas will hook you up.

I hate driving on Powell or in this part of town in general, but I go here to get seafood from this market. It is well priced and always fresh.
The people that work here are wonderful. They are SO helpful and willing to do just about anything to help you and your new seafood purchase make it home.
They always offer ice and last year, they completely packed up an order of Oysters for us (box and everything) for no extra charge so we could get them to Idaho for Christmas at my in laws house.
It’s rare to find service like this anywhere in Portland, so I wish I could give them an extra 6^th star just for their customer service!

Bad place to buy oysters bought a 5 dozen bag came home and in the cleaning processe counted only 3 dozen and was still charged full price no refund or anything. owner still will not take action all she said was «i will call my merchent» and sorry. So now i will take my hard own money and buisness some were els.

Looks are deceiving, indeed. Tucked away on skanky Powell Blvd, Pacific Fish and Oyster storefront and interior looks and smells like a complete throwback. More than slightly fishy with your standard bins of assorted seafood. Difference is, everything is absolutely fresh with a good variety of fish and shellfish. I usually opt for their incredible cuts of Copper River salmon in season and OYSTERS… 8 visits and never a letdown. Between ABC Seafood and this place, my eastside wants are taken care of, both business run by down to earth friendly folks.

That lucky Capt Hook! He’s the scourge of the bike lanes again & the holy terror of mud puddles everywhere. So why does this bad boy get sweet, tender dungeness crab risotto with crimini mushrooms & asparagus tips for V-​day? Because it’s still dungeness crab season & for $ 5.99/lb there’s no need to schlep to Costco, get run over by 5 SUV’s, 3 shopping carts, & the random stroller or two to get 2 crabs for the same price when I only need one.
Did I mention that the lovely lady behind the counter will not only clean the crab for you (She removes the back with one quick snap AND pulls out the scary monsterish appendage-​shaped lungs so you don’t have to do it later while thoughts of, «OMG. Did that just move??» go running through your pretty little head.) but also gives out cooking tips. (Octopus is cooked when it bobs up from the water, or oil if you’re so inclined, just like gnocchi!).

When I move to to a new city the first thing I look for is an honest butcher, and a great fishmonger. For the latter, anyone who enjoys cooking with fresh delicious ingredients should look no further than Pacific Fish & Oyster. The shop provides the kind of welcoming «Old Neighborhood» atmosphere which has always included patient, knowledgeable staff who are happy to see you and happy to help.

You can always tell fresh seafood by the smell. If it smells slightly fishy, like being at the ocean, you know it’s probably safe. But if it stinks to the point you gag when you walk in, you know something is probably wrong. Luckily, Pacific Seafood Company is the first of these two scenarios. Although a little deceiving from the outside, this little shop sized business with counter service harbors some of the freshest seafood to come out of the Northwest Pacific. With always-​friendly service and consistently reasonable prices, Pacific Seafood Company is also one of the main seafood vendors to local eateries, including most of Portland’s upscale, 5-​star restaurants.
