Our Founder — The first blacksmith at Palmer Spring Company was founder, Joseph Benjamin Palmer. He brought his trade from England in 1849, to Boston then Concord, New Hampshire. According to Palmer’s great grandson, David Weeks current president, Concord was the original center of the carriage business in the United States. The Portland Branch — The Portland branch was opened in 1930 when grandson Richard S. Palmer took over the firm. It was opened in its current location, 355 Forest Avenue. As time went on the business grew. Palmer Spring now owns four buildings in all. All are connected and they have even added a second floor. Palmer has seven service bays, a blacksmith shop, a parts area, a warehouse area and offices. Leaf springs: our primary product — The primary product made by Palmer Spring is leaf springs.
