Personal Beast

We stopped in while waiting for a table at the restaurant next door. We thought we’d bring some Portland treats back for our fur babies. The dog cookies are crack… my dogs love them sooooo much and the best part is that they don’t upset their tummies or give them bad gas. Lucky I will be back to Portland for business to pick up some more. I wish they had a way we can order online. :(

My last review came right after a bad experience, that’s not what this place is, and it’s not who I want to be either. They’re great. Everything is quality here and they really care about your pets.

I just got my first dog on Saturday. I walked into this place and asked «what does someone who owns a dog need to have… for said dog?» I have been back 3 or 4 times since that pseudo-​initial visit (I had been in before for catfood and litter) with various questions and concerns involving my new little chap and the state of his tummy/fur/mood/nails/…and so on and so on. Every single person who works here is patient and helpful. Most of (if not all) the people who shop here are equally patient and helpful. I’ve already gotten at least $ 30 discounted from the various items I’ve purchased here. Seriously, I have nothing even close to negative to say about this shop. AND they are open untill 7:00pm. Nothing in this friggin’ city is open past 6pm because people don’t, you know, have jobs during the day all week long.

I’m just going to join the chorus here. Personal Beast is a great place. I was all worried about my friend’s cat who was going to have to make a cross country trip in a car. I went in to buy my usual cat food when I happened to mention this to the woman behind the counter. She stopped everything she was doing to give me a comprehensive lesson about pheromone sprays and how they help calm a stressed cat. She spent a lot of time showing me brands and explaining the differences. I passed all this information onto my friend. My friend went ahead and got a product based on these recommendations. Later, after the trip, my friend told me that the spray was indeed effective. It is a beautiful store that is well laid out, they have great products and an extremely friendly, very knowledgeable (beyond the expected) staff.

Great pet store with great dog treat options and excellent dog food options that fit the dog owner that cares what they feed their dog.

When we were in Oregon, we wanted to find my boyfriend’s dog an Oregon shirt. Or any clothing that relates to Oregon. After stopping at every pet store in Portland, as nearly giving up on it, we decided to check out Personal Beast. At last, they offered cute Oregon Ducks dog shirt, and Oregon Beavers as well. Yaaayy, we got him the green Oregon Ducks shirt: D The customer service was also great! The lady that works there was helpful and kind.

If you need help finding a toy, treat or new food for your «best friend», these folks will help you out.

Would it be wrong to say I LOVE this place? Well, I do. My cat is newly diagnosed with IBD and I am in new territory with her special diet. The vet gave me instructions, but the woman who working when I went in talked me through all the different varieties and benefits of different products. She was so nice!
Lots of awesome products and good prices. Will be my go to store from now on.

We love the reward program. We were ecstatic to find Personal Beast open on Saturday, Feb 8^th, 2014, snow covered roads and all. Great selection. Great location. Great staff.

These are are just half a mile away from my home and I couldn’t be any happier. They carry both my dog and cat’s food (Taste of the Wild and Instinct). They have a customer loyalty program — so for every $ 100 you spend you’ll get $ 10 off your next purchase. They carry a large selection of toys, snacks, and other odds and ends. The staff has been very helpful every time I’ve been in too. I asked if they carried compostable dog poop bags and the gal looked up their bags online and gave me the proper information. Unfortunately they didn’t, but they do carry biodegradable bags. Another nice thing was they gave me free samples of cat treats for «halloween» trick or treaters. I am definitely a fan and will be going back.

I rarely take the time to write reviews on here, but this is certainly a worthwhile exception. my cat wet the bed, through the sheets and into the mattress, so I rushed in a half hour before they closed and asked the lady at the counter what would work best for my situation. she explained they were out of what she would normally suggest but checked their storage room for any backstock they may have had. when she came back out she handed me a bottle of their store supply, explained what it was and how to use it and wished me good luck, no charge! I am extremely grateful for her kindness in making an awful situation a little easier. This is officially my new go-​to pet supply store!

The ladies that work here really know pet stuff and are always willing to share information with you. The best pet store around! They carry just about everything and are great at helping you find what is best for you and your pets.

Met TriPod here a few months ago when picking up my cat food supplies. He’s gone now because he found a home!!! YAY! He was of the 3 legged purr-​sasion. sweet boy. They have cats from Mult. Co. Animal shelter here all ready for you to adopt. This includes shots/​and chip! The animal shelter is overfull right now so these sweet cats are going cheap, FYI.
They let them roam around from time to time but I cannot imagine how that must drive them crazy with all the food smells!!!
I have 2 senior cats so I need special food to keep them going. Not only do I love this place because they have a lot of variety of different foods, I love that it’s a local place. My favorite part though is that they are next to The Observatory so it’s like a one stop shop/​eat/​drink place for me!

If my dog was homeless he would probably hang out in front of Salty’s with a sign that says,“why lie, I need a treat”
They sell bully sticks. Bull penis. My dog loves them.
That doesn’t make him gay.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

They sell individual-​dose Advantage! This is a huge plus for me — it’s a lot easier to put out $ 15 at a time, rather than the $ 59 for a several months’ supply.
Good selection of healthy/​natural dog and cat foods at reasonable prices (not extra-​expensive as, unfortunately, some independent stores have to be).
The woman working was very helpful. She knew all the products and was able to take what I told her about my cat and recommend some good products. I’ll definitely be shopping here from now on instead of Petco.

Oh, hello! Salty’s didn’t quite save my hide the other day (in search of special food my vet had run out of — GODDAMN, the things I do for that devil beast kitten of mine), but what a great shop! They’ve got all yer fuzzies’ needs covered — food, treats, toys, leashes, clothes.
The beast eats special food. The beast eats better than I do. My vet ran out of special Beast food and while switching food all of a sudden was about the last thing I wanted to do, I figured better go with some super high quality stuff just in case. Man alive, the beast owes me big time.
Friendly staff, bright, clean, organized store, and a good selection make this a great pet store. In addition to our new fancy-​pants gourmet kitty food, I also scored some toys… $ 0.85/each, endless hours of hilarity guaranteed.

This is an awesome local pet store featuring quality local and natural products (as well as some of the better big brands), toys, accessories, and the like. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find the right stuff for that special little furry someone. Pets are welcome in the store (as it should be with all pet stores) as well.
This is in my hood, so I try to support as often as I can. While we go through too much cat food feeding the colony of strays that live on our street to buy anything bur the Purina Naturals (srsly, it’s like feeding a couple of kids!) I still stop in from time to time for treats, special wet cat food, gifts, and the like.
Good stuff for good dogs and good cats.

I love Salty’s. I drive up to Mississippi and Fremont from Clackamas, just to go there to buy treats. And what do I see while I’m walking down Stark? A NEW Salty’s, closer to home! I will have to save my five stars for when I go to buy treats, to see if it has the same great service. But peeking in the window, it looks like the same great goods I’ve come to expect on Mississippi, but in a bigger space. I saw the table of organic treats and animal parts. The dog food we buy, «Wee Bit,» in the princessy pink shiny bag, was sitting next to the front door, in two different sizes. Oola has eaten the last bunch of treats I bought, it’s time to stock up again!

I went in and the store is bigger and more wonderful than the Mississippi location (which was recently broken into and ransacked, shame on the bad person who did that), with a lot more choices and products. The owner was there, as always was helpful, and I got a LOT of treats for Oola, as well as three new toys. She took the 10% coupon that I had for the other store. Salty’s remains our favorite dog store ever.
