History

Established in 1990.

Dr. Doleac started his orthodontic career as a military orthodontist serving in Germany, Texas, and Alaska. While enlisted in the US Army, he attended the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio and went on to earn his orthodontic degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1981. After nine years as a military orthodontist, he brought his family to Portland and began his private practice.

Magic Smiles grew and Dr. Doleac added a satellite location in Scappoose, Oregon in 1995. In 1999 our practice officially opened a second primary office location in Beaverton, where Dr. Doleac and staff continue to provide excellence in orthodontics for our patients from all over the Portland metropolitan area.

Dr. Doleac and his staff love to laugh. He is fond of saying, «I don’t pay you to have a good time,» but that is exactly what he does! We want each of our patients to have the best experience possible, both in terms of quality of result and enjoying the process of getting there. Dr, Doleac is the jokester of the office and he loves to pull pranks. A great example of one of his pranks was when it was one of the staff members birthday and he had ordered a cake. While the staff was out for a birthday lunch celebration, they returned to find that they cake had disappeared. They looked everywhere for the cake except for one spot, the microwave. Yes, he hid it in the micorwave!

Wonderful experience overall. They were not too pushy or slick and explained why I needed the treatment I did. The staff was all very friendly and helpful and the facility was clean and comfortable.
My only complaints would be that they filed the edges of my two front teeth without asking permission first and the Orthodontist had a very dry sense of humour, always telling me that my braces would be off in a few years or some other such thing. While I found this slightly annoying after a while many people may enjoy his sense of humor. Overall he is a wonderful doctor.
If you are looking for a good, solid orthodontist, especially if you are a teenager, your search may very well be over.

I recently completed my Invisalign treatment with Dr Doleac and his really amazing staff, and every time I look in the mirror I can’t help but smile! The result is excellent, as I knew it would be, but what really sets this office apart is the total experience. Clinically, the care I received was top notch — gentle assistants took great care of me, and Dr Doleac is amazing. The front office staff was very friendly and definitely helpful. But what was really cool was the humor in that office. I found myself laughing every time I was there– I just wasn’t expecting to have so much fun! And it isn’t just me — you can hear fun conversations throughout the office. The kids obviously love both the assistants and the doctor. I recommend Dr Doleac and Magic Smiles very highly!

Dr Doleac has been in touch with me since the incident that caused me to feel very uncomfortable coming to this office. He has apologized for the way in which he approached me about it. He let me know he had some family problems that had him on edge and that is why he was short. It was just an occasion where Dr Doleac made a mistake. It happened and although I was hurt about the experience I completely forgive him. My braces have come off and the results are okay. There were some things that couldn’t be resolved. I had four teeth removed to make for less crowding in my teens and the gaps remained. Dr Doleac tried using wires and bands to close it up as much as possible and although there is contact the gaps are still there although not very noticeable. My two front teeth have always sort of stuck out more than the rest and they still do, just not as badly as before. I am not in love with the results but I will say that my bite is much more even now and that does make me happy. That’s as good as it gets I guess. I have had braces twice and this time I was really serious about it and I wish that for the more than ten thousand dollars I have put into my teeth that I could really be ecstatic about them. Oh well, I guess it’s as good as it’s going to get because I am not doing it again.

Relationships, fun and laughter are important to me — so it’s no surprise how much love I have for Dr Doleac and his team. Dr Doleac is hands-​down an amazing Orthodontist, his skills for making beautiful smiles is second to none. What I love the most about his practice is the experience they deliver — it’s about fun and feeling like part of their family. I don’t know how to really explain the «magic» energy they have going on there to do it justice, if you check out their Facebook page you’ll be able to see what I mean because you can see the love they have for their patients and for each other in every photo. I highly recommend Dr Doleac and his team.

I wanted to make an appointment to transfer my invisalign case to this dentist but the front desk receptionist was so utterly rude I decided to go elsewhere. Upon asking about insurance and if they would even consider taking on my case, the receptionist told me that «it would be significantly cost you a lot out of pocket– and I can guarantee you it will not be covered under insurance).
Well, let me tell you– after that, I don’t think I will be returning because if my first impression is THAT terrible over the phone, I cannot imagine how terrible it would be in person. Don’t ignore the negative reviews of others previously on Unilocal,they are there for a reason. And heed their warning!
If I have to drive out of state to find an Elite provider to, I will. Run away from their horrible staff – I would. Run as fast away as you can!

My daughters teeth are beautiful, thanks to Dr Doleac and his team! I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone who needs braces. They are always happy, so I know they love their jobs!
